The Basics of Day Trading
Day trading usually refers to the practice of purchasing and selling a security within a single trading day. It can occur in any marketplace but is most common in the foreign exchange (forex) and stock markets. Day traders are typically well educated and well funded. They use high amounts of leverage and short-term trading strategies to capitalize on small price movements that occur in highly liquid stocks or currencies.
Day traders are attuned to events that cause short-term market moves. Trading based on the news is a popular technique. Scheduled announcements such as economic statistics, corporate earnings, or interest rates are subject to market expectations and market psychology. Markets react when those expectations are not met or are exceeded-usually with sudden, significant moves-which can greatly benefit day traders.
Day traders use numerous intraday strategies. These strategies include:
Scalping: This strategy attempts to make numerous small profits on small price changes throughout the day.
Range trading: This strategy primarily uses support and resistance levels to determine buy and sell decisions.
News-based trading: This strategy typically seizes trading opportunities from the heightened volatility around news events.
Knowledge and experience in the marketplace
Individuals who attempt to day-trade without an understanding of market fundamentals often lose money. Technical analysis and chart reading are both good skills for a day trader to have. But without a more in-depth understanding of the market and its unique risks, charts may prove deceiving. Do your due diligence and understand the particular ins and outs of the products you trade.
Sufficient capital
Day traders use only risk capital they can afford to lose. This not only protects them from financial ruin but also helps eliminate emotion from their trading.
Strategy
A trader needs an edge over the rest of the market. Day traders use several different strategies, including swing trading, arbitrage, and trading news. They refine these strategies until they produce consistent profits and effectively limit losses.

Arty I just had a few days of work and found the time to watch your videos. Im trying to make profit since last August. I managed to double the money I had within this short ammount of time just by being patience, following trentlines, support/resistance levels and divergence. I used to jump into trades without much thinking. My trades went from a 20% win rate to a 50-60% and I trade only BTC. I think that if I keep this up I'll manage full time trading within the next couple of years. Thats my goal at least. Thank you Arty! You have been a great help!!! flip a blue plastic token to decide whether to long or short a trade, *only* once the token has watched and completed *all* the right playlists on Arty's channel... And has traded on demo for at least long enough to prove beyond doubt that their approach is consistently profitable.

So arty..... Let's say you have a proven strategy that has a win rate of 60 percent and you only take trade with at least risk Reward ratio of 1:2....... Is it okay to increase your risk from 1 % to 2 % of your account Because i don't think you can loose 50 straight trades if you're disciplined in terms of following the rules of the strategy

Hello Arty!! (Is the spelling correct? Is it Arty, or is it Artie, or is it Arti, or is it Arte? Also, is it short for Artemus, like in "Artemus Gordon" of the movie, The Wild Wild West?) I would like to first thank you for the care with which you prepare your videos. I am new at this trading thing, so I have a couple of questions. (1) You say to backtest a strategy 100X's, and if the win rate of that strategy is G.T. 50%, then open a demo account. In other words, open a demo account afterwards. However, shouldn't a person first have a demo account to be able to backtest a strategy using historical data? (2) I imagine that the difference between back-testing a strategy and forward-testing a strategy is that in back-testing one is using historical data (on a demo account?) and in forward-testing one is using real-time data on a demo account, right?

so having 50$ on 1% loss 2% profit wouldn't that bad because of commissions would eat all ur profits? can someone correct me about this? I feel you need a certain amount of initial capital in order to be profitable with that 1% lose 2% win strategy.
1% is a must for newbie, also keep in mind if take no position is count as an option.

Trading everyday on the same pair hasn't worked for me. It is rare that I ever feel confident about a trade. I keep on seeing consolidation (maybe where there isn't) and wait for the right time which rarely comes. It feels like I'm forcing a trade that isn't there. But I'll keep at it, the penny will drop soon I'm sure (pun intended).

You mention to practice on just one pair each day. Except lately I decided to go with a top down analysis( 4H/1H-30min/15Min entry) this stops me from over trading.
I scan through all forex charts on the 4H & look for key areas. I set alerts and wait for them then I trade it using my higher time frame Bias and 1h/30min to 15min entry.
Is this a bad Strategy?

I started with 100usd and I got 28usd profit within 2 days, and I put too much risk and being too greedy when I start trading, I think I got lucky. At first I think that losing my money won't be a problem but soon as the balance goes down I start to be stressful. It's a long journey for sure to get used to it and learning a lesson from experiences I've got would be a lot to take but hopefully I can be better and better.
