I honestly have rhythm but never knew how to put it together and get it polished. Never tried really. ive always thought the jooking in memphis was the coolest looking dance style by far. So im learning now during the quarantine here in Texas and man your videos are such a big help mane. Its like having a mentor straight from mephis.
Fuck... Before this video was made, I did lots of guess work to break down the buck jump. I do not live in America, so... yeah. Also, I completely agree, the switch has to be there. It was being taught on UA-cam as something so simple as lifting your leg, definitely misleading. lol
This is actually a great tutorial. Starting with the 8 kinds of remind me of my marching band days, we would do a prep step of starting on 8. It actually gave more balance when starting from a standing position or going into a death march or one step where you just kept the knee held up for a period of time
I've been trying to learn the 'out to the side' version of the buck jump. I was finding it hard to understand it because no one ever does it for more than 2 seconds. Thanks a lot for breaking it down
@@bkthedancer shiiit i appreciate you makin the tutorials bruh. I grew up in Memphis and always wanted to learn how to jook but i didnt have the patience. Felt i was too busy hustlin at the time and low key didn't wna embarrass myself trying lol
@@bkthedancer for sure! i've been trying to learn how to jook for a few years now but i've never seen anyone else explain it as well as you do. you really understand how the movement works and it's incredible to see. keep it up!
Think of it this way. If you march in place starting with your left leg you would go left, right, left, right. for 8 counts or 1,2,3,4.......8. Don't start marching right away. Count 5,6,7, then lift your right leg on 8, then go 1,2,3,4
@@G_STYLIN Yes, I just started back after 20 years of not doing it. I went back to doing alumni marching band at my HBCU and getting back into dancing and looking. It's been a journey LOL
@@SonicBoomC98 good aha, im trying to learning it myself but it turn out to be a bit difficult aha and also the fact that im french and i dont catch all in tutorial videos lol

that second buck jump kinda difficult. i cant get it lol
It's definitely an advanced and tricky move. I learned one side at a time before I put it all together. That might help some.
I thought the same thing but i kept trying and got it right after maybe 2 days tops.
Thank you!
