    this video's good and that beat you use for your intro / outro so hard. i been jookin for probably around 5 years now ever since i started i can't stop. I'm from california but not the L.A. area im on the Central Coast like 4 hours North of L.A. or 6 hours i think if you're in bad traffic. Jookin is one of the only things i've ever consistently dedicated myself to other than working out & skateboarding because i grew up skateboarding. But i wanted to start ballet for some reason tbh and when i found jookin it pretty much went hand in hand cuz i feel like an actual ballet class wouldn't have fit exactly what I wanted to do it wasn't more so that type of style, i just wanted to be on my toes. People from memphis too talented they really are. Just crazy to see how messed up it really is but like anywhere there is stuff happening but memphis different, that's all I can say.

    BK! Man it’s been a long time!!! Good to see you on film again man! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with everybody in the world! You have always had an immense amount of knowledge with this culture and style...and the world has been missing out since you had been off the scene. This makes me happy to see. I learned a lot from my innovation fam just watching/studying you guys and talking for hours upon hours to Zeus and OG Jaquency! I absolutely love this! Please keep it up brother! Let em all know!

    I agree with the bounce being the first and best way to accent the steps. I haven't jooked in 20 years. I'm the kind of person who likes to go back to the basics when I revisit something. These are some good videos

    Hello. Thanks for the tutorial. Please explain the Toe Stands that are common with the Jookin Dance style. I understand it helps to have a hard toe shoe but what is the process to learn the Toe Stands. Also, please explain the Gliding techniques that I see Jookers do on concrete that appear effortless, smooth and seamless . Thanks

    • @bkthedancer
      @bkthedancer  3 роки тому

      You're welcome! And sorry for the late response...I literally was not getting notifications on these for some reason. smh...Check out episode 2 of this series for glides/slides. Once you get the technique down, it won't matter what surface you're on. As for the process of learning toe stands, there are various ways to go about it. E A gave a great way to go about it with his comment. As for my process (along with most people from my time), we focused on what move we were trying to do and just worked it until we got it down (or some variation of it...it didn't always turn out the way we envisioned it. Lol). The strength and balance came from doing the move over & over again, and this ultimately carried over into other moves we attempted & were already doing. Strengthening exercises are great and very helpful, but ultimately, it comes down to repetition of the movement.

    I need help on the bounce i dont get the bounce 😭😭

    • @bkthedancer
      @bkthedancer  4 роки тому +3

      The easiest way to understand the bounce is to think of it as the same rhythm as you would bob your head to the song. Whatever rhythm you bob your head on is how your body should bounce/rock.
