  • I've used it for a year, time to review the Lew's TP1 Black Spinning Rod. This particular TP1 Black Speed Stick is model number TP1B69MLFS, meaning it is a TP1 Black that is 6' 9" Medium Light power, Fast Action. I've caught a ton of fish on this and have used it to fish a variety of techniques from small crappie jigs to weightless senkos. I primarily use this rod as my Drop Shot set-up, mostly because it is super sensitive but still has enough backbone to horse in a fish out of cover, or control a large Trout that is running and head shaking.
As mentioned in the video I have even fished a dry fly with it using an adjastabubble, if you are interested, check that video out here.

I've been using the Alberto knot for my leader knot. I love it. Small profile easy to tie and super strong. Give it a shot.

Honestly double uninot never comes undone Alberto is a pain to learn and tie

The VTR is that ring immediately behind the reel seat. I believe is made out of carbon fiber and helps feeling the vibrations and bites. The TP1 Black is really a great rod and besides I only have the bait cast version, I'm looking forward to get the spinning version too. Thank you for your review!

Thanks AJ, I want to try one of the bait cast TP1 Blacks but lately I've been head over heals with the Custom Lites Rods. So nice!

Just ordered one of these, the 7' Worm rod. I checked out 7' All Purpose rod and was impressed just wanted a little more lure weight capacity.

I have the baitcaster version on this rod. I love it. I wanted to buy this rod for my spinning setup but the micro guides make it a no go as I plan to use braid to Fluro and just want to not fight my knot. If you tie a leader use the FG knot. It is a pain to learn but becomes second nature with practice.

Great looking rods. I haven't yet tried the blacks but I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Just got one today casting rod 7'4" mh cranking rod. The handle is money! Very soft tip rod more like a medium rod feel.

👍 Nice rod. I've eyeballed the few Lews rods at Walmart, and they look to be a good product.

If you want an extremely small braid to leader knot, try the blood knot. But beware, it's EXTREMELY frustrating to get right every time.

I will practice tying some up and give it a go. I like the uni-uni know because it's pretty easy to tie while I'm on a kayak. Thanks for the suggestion!

@@Outwestwithchris1 Uni to uni is definitely a good and easy knot, Iv'e used that knot forever. But I wish you luck with the blood knot, I am still trying to master it. LOL

I switched to the Alberto knot and haven't looked back. Great knot, super strong, easy to tie and has a small profile. Give it a shot and you won't be disappointed.
