I would love to have a pet Cradily. They are the EMBODIMENT of "oddly cute." I love the stubs, you can tell they don't like to move much but they will if they have to.
What on earth was that Tapu Fini set in the first battle?? - Waterfall - Calm Mind - Nature's Madness - ? Like... that's the least synergistic set I've ever seen.
Rampardos is in a good speed tier. It can function in and out of Trick Room. But it's still quite difficult to use. But hey that's the same for so many other Pokemon. I think Dynamaxing could help Rampardos.
That's really cool, I have Muddy Water on my Fini cos I'm scared about Surf with Lando and Rotom-H on the team, but it could be so useful to have Surf...
I am hunting this amazing mon, my favorite rock type by far. sadly, over 1k eggs with masuda method has given me nothing. WHY WON'T MY GAME GIVE ME MY PINK KORO-SENSEI PLANT GIRAFFE THINGMABOBBY Edit: FINALLY GOT IT AFTER 1'530 EGGS! It's now called Noodle Neck and I shall treasure it
From the moment I realized that it's eyes weren't the swirls on its head, my respect for this mon has only grown. Being the amalgamation of the two worst defensive types yet having less total weaknesses than either is also a really interesting thing that allows it to fulfill the standard niches of both without a lot of the drawbacks. The main things holding it back are... well, a bit of everything. Middling stats, a semi-limited movepool, and a pretty meh ability all work in tandem to bring it down. So I guess I'll just jot down my ideas on how to fix it: Stats - HP: 86 -> 96 Attack: 81 -> 91 Defense: 97 Sp. Atk: 81 -> 96 Sp. Def: 107 Speed: 43 -> 33 This pushes its BST up to 520. Seeing as how Tyrantrum has 521, this is within the standard range given by Game Freak. The buffs mainly just turn its mediocre stats into good stats. The boost in HP offers a 5% bulk increase at 252 EVs, the attack boosts allow it to deal just that bit more with its moves, and Speed is taken from to allow the other stats to be raised higher and to have it to function better in TR. For moveset, Power Gem is an obvious choice. Yes, it doesn't have gems in its design, but neither do Corsola and Klink. A Sp. Atk boosting setup move could also help, with moves such as Calm Mind and Growth being easy additions that allow it to not be as passive. Strength Sap could potentially work, since the Oddish line can learn it despite not having energy draining capabilities in their lore, and would be a really big asset to have. For Abilities, if Suction Cups was merged with Sticky Hold(in terms of effects), then it could see much more competitive use. For a secondary Ability, Analytic could be a choice that benefits from its low speed and adds to its otherwise average offense.
Yeah if I worked for Game Freak I would definitely demand a rework on Abilities. Pokemon should have more than one ability, in my opinion. Own Tempo and Oblivious should have the same effect.
I don't see cradily matching with cradilys design or lore but I can see the idea behind it I'd say storm drain is fine tho or if you wanna be interesting you could give both it and armaldo compound eyes which fits with their dual theme of hiding their true eyes and would make stone edge much more viable on them
Absolutely underappreciated! This thing can be so nasty, it's a shoe-in for pretty much any team I try to build. Best fossilmon if you ask me (even if Armaldo will always have a special place in my heart).
I chose the Root Fossil in Sapphire so I'm more a Cradily fan but I feel a bit sad more Armaldo. Swift Swim should at least give any Poke with it neutral defense to Water.
I’ve always liked both Hoenn fossils (they’re my favourite fossil mons) and after using it multiple time’s in showdown and once on my shield playthrough, I’ve grown to like Cradily even more (use it a lot in the battle tower)
incredible video friend! I love discussion videos, thank you for taking the time to look at this dude and teach us a little bit about him! one suggestion for this team idea is you could have surf on your water Pokemon ( in the VGC ) and that passes special attack boosts onto yourself as well as breaks sashes and deals damage!

@@OriginalGameteer Agreed, the tone in the video (shiny "Pokémon Fan" AND in a Cherish ball... hmmm) seemed to suggest doubt. I don't play competitive VG anymore, but I love seeing fun and interesting teams used in doubles. I first learned about you from your collab with WeedleTwineedle and I finally decided to subscribe. Keep up the good work and keep the memes coming.
I know little to nothing about competitive pokemon, and that wolfey guy's videos get really confusing and take almost an hour; All I saw in the title was Cradily: literally one of my favorite pokemon from childhood. And during your video I understood pretty much all of it! Thanks for making the mechanics on how Cradily can play now easy to swallow for me :)
This is my first time seeing the mon in 3D so now that I know that the yellow circles on it's forehead are not eyes I like this Pokémon significantly more and it's cuteness levels have increased tenfold. Gen 3 sprites did not do justice for this poor mon.
That nickname made me realize just how many Pokemon used in Sinnoh had those sorts of nicknames, I love that that's some vague consistent thing. LLLLLLLLLL is a wonderful name, especially.
I know your Cradilly is Defense and Special Defense oriented, but what about your other Pokémon in your VGC team? I’m currently trying to build that team, and I’d like to know what’s best for each member.
I love Cradily so much! I have quite a story with Cradily since my first teams in Gen 6 Anything Goes had me with 5 Cradilys and Arceus Ground. Ingrain, Toxic, Protect, Recover on all six. But I love it so much since it's from Gen 3, a Grass type, AND an underrated pick, which I love all of. And with it's new weapons in Power Whip, Meteor Beam, and Leech Seed, it might be the most buffed returning Pokemon other than Regigigas.
Finally i was waiting since 2015 for Cradily to get Leech Seed, i love it, i remember back in the day when i was starting to play competitive in Showdown i learned to play with Cradily on my team and since i could remember nobody respects Cradily, somehow they all stay in despite type disadvantage and because of that i got my fair share of wins due to this lovely fossil, it only lacked one thing, reliable recovery in the form of leech seed i even get out of my way to play hackmoons to test how good will it be with leech seed and i was pleasently surprised but now i'm euforic :D
Cool to see with all the monsters like Lando-T, Tapu Fini, and _horse_ (both variants), Cradily, a largely forgotten Fossil Pokemon, can still be made into a powerful Pokemon. Good work!
Glad to see one of my favorite fossil Pokémon getting the spotlight. My go-to nickname for Cradily is Relic Lotus. On a different note, one thing that I hope you consider featuring in a future video is After You + Focus Punch. Recently while engaged in Dynamax Adventures, I had a Comfey and an ally had a Fighting-type Pokémon. At one point, I decided to use After You on the Fighting type not knowing that they were going for Focus Punch. The result: Focus Punch landed on the Dynamaxed Pokémon without having to wait for everyone else to move. I'm curious to know whether this is a viable strategy in Double Battles. Either way, have a nice day!
I had a lot of success in doubles choice surfing into the power herb/meteor beam Cradily. It’s been super fun. Cradily was the first raid I caught in Crown Tundra, and it was SO much fun to use.
Did anyone mention the cherish ball shiny Tapu Fini would be from participating in an online competition since they gave out the non-tapu koko tapus via that method
I have a concept for a doubles team with storm drain cradily, with negative speed nature and low (even feasible with roughly 10 ivs) attack. Cradily can use bulldoze and activate a (max hp,no def invested) chandelure weakness policy with relatively minimum damage. Which can be best exploited in trick room, that chandelure can set itself during set-up turn. On top of that cradily and chandelier are capable of covering their own and/or each others weaknesses relatively well.
I've always had a liking for Cradily and it's great to see it has viability as a sorta anti-meta pick. I really want to use it myself in doubles to see how it does, so thank you for this video.
This video made me love cradily. So I think you achieved your goal. Also how viable do you think chandelure is in doubles or singles? because it’s one of my favourite Pokémon

This things honestly pretty good in monotype. It’s storm drain ability makes it almost a staple on any rock team, it’s naturally bulky and with sand up it can take everything. It gets healing, strong stab moves, settup moves, and now meteor beam.
Meteor Beam,Ingrain, Stockpile, recover is a op strat, with the held item leftovers and ability storm drain, its almost unbeatable first you would use ingrain so if you get hit by an attack left overs and ingrain heal you has well as making dragontrail or any other movenot being able to switch you out muse stockpile or use recover and then use meteor beam to raise sp,atk and deal massive damage and if your lucky you can get hit by a water move to deal even more damage.

Damn cradily got huge buffed, I also don’t know why cradily didn’t get leech seed and kinda just thought it did learn it, but imagine it in ADV metagames with a sub seed set or something, not a huge ADV player but I’m pretty sure cradily is used sometimes in OU? Cradily is a great monotype pokemon
Yay some new foo! As usual the highlight of the video (aside from the strats) is the nicknames! 😂
Love that thumbnail
Damn cradily got huge buffed, I also don’t know why cradily didn’t get leech seed and kinda just thought it did learn it, but imagine it in ADV metagames with a sub seed set or something, not a huge ADV player but I’m pretty sure cradily is used sometimes in OU? Could’ve maybe been on early gen OU titan with leech seed.
