The white herb unburden sceptile with curse baton pass is so big brain. I figured yawn would work like confusion and baton pass the drowsiness, but you always learn something new when watching foofoo!
A while back my friend and I set up a baton pass strategy in doubles and made a eviolite corphish strong enough to instantly kill a duraldon with a max geyser
I think a Hitmonlee would also work for this strategy. It has a higher attack than Sceptile, and really high special defence, and in combination with the +6 defence it would be super bulky as well as strong. I would say +SpDef -SpAtk nature, and EV’s in Attack and SpDef. Without any investment I think it outspeeds everything but Regieleki.
That's some stupid verlisify shit. Just run adamant or jolly and go 252 atk and speed. No need to make unburden mons tanky if the whole point to the strat is to slow pass +6 atk and insta activate unburden.
@@joemomma2218 that is some stupid Versalify shit. Why bother running max speed when you could outspeed every mon in the game with less investment that that. Pyukumuku is low key one of my favorite pokemon, I just suck at team-building so I usually don't bother trying to make it work especially since I primarily play doubles.
Agreed. Pyukumuku definitely shines brighter in singles than doubles. I have a stall version I use myself that is an inverse to this tactic. Toxapex and Clefable to set up and BP Cosmic Powers to the Pyuku, then stall-kill for days with Toxic, Soak, Taunt, and Recover + Unaware.
i really want to try making innards out work too bad (or maybe it’s a good thing idk) that pyukumuku has low hp and beefy defenses making innards out pointless
Foofoo, this made me smile. Sceptile was my favorite mon for a long time, but it kept souring for me, as the "greatest" buff it got to its special attack pool was Dragon Pulse. That, of course, was two generations ago, bringing the type diversity for its incredible special attack stat to a whopping 3 types (Normal included). Add on the fact that this was a generation where Dracovish *exists*, It became pretty clear that Sceptile would NEVER be a true special attacker. This was a video of just how crazy threatening Sceptile could potentially be if it actually had a special move pool MORE diverse than Machamp's special move pool. Thank you so much for this. I did the same with Curse + Baton Pass Umbreon into Unburden White Herb Hitmonlee waaay back in Gen 7 and actually won my way into a german youtube project called "Arena Battle 2" by "Nestfloh" with this strategy hahaha! Nice to see it in action again but with different mons.
Yeah the strat has been around for a few gens, I just really like how unexpected it is when you go from a super slow Pokemon to a blisteringly fast sweeper xD

I’m so glad to see someone recognize the sheer power of Pyukumuku. I use one in OU a good bit on an otherwise hyper offense, pivot team with Block, Toxic, Recover, and Counter to deal with anything too scary. So far, still the best moment has been it living an urshifu ss close combat crit on like 2% and countering for a one shot
Such a slept on Pokemon. Pyukumuku really hurts from Smogon banning Baton Pass - it was a great pivot with Baton Pass even on sets with no set-up moves.
@@foofootoo yeah, pyuk's movepool is just atrocious to the point where it only really has two sets when you exclude baton pass. The two sets being a mirror coat/counter mon or a toxic staller who can use soak and gastro acid and block to completely prevent escape.
There are a plethora of strategies you could use with Pyukumuku... I love it! :D My most common one is the "Pick your poison" Pyukumuku. A max HP, max SpDef, Innards Out Pyukumuku with Recover, Soak (Ha ha Poison & Steel-Types), Toxic, & any non-status move (Ha ha Taunters) & Leftovers as the item.
So, I have actually beaten urshifu consistantly with a bewear of all things using a set of max defense and max attack impish nature with a move pool consisting of drain punch, darkest lariat, taunt, and bulk up with leftovers as the item of choice. After one or two bulk ups drain punch become very reliable healing and taunt keeps enemies from setting up on you, not to mention the great bulk and damage this set pulls off easily. However, its weaknesses are any special attacks as it has no way of countering them.
I've done the same thing with Pyukumuku before, but mine was holding Maranga Berry and I passed Curse boosts onto a White Herb Acrobatics Cinderace instead.
Not every day you get to see a Shelmet defeat a Mewtwo. Anyway, this is a neat and clever strategy. I'm sure Michael of the UA-cam channel M&JTV Pokevids would approve by saying "Hail Yeah!" Back in gen 6 when ferrothorn was omnipresent I ran a natural gift occa Berry sceptile. Basically I'd switch into a bulky water type. And when it would switch I'd go for a swords dance. Then natural gift for a fire type attack on ferro and proceed to sweep with Unburden
I'm currently creating a team around Regirock because i just got it in shiny yesterday. I want to use a Curse Set up with Trick room, so i decided to do it in the doubles format for better Trick room and screen support. And then i thought of your strategy with Sceptile. Regirock itself doesn't get baton pass, but i can psych up the curses from it and baton pass these to a Sceptile (e. g. with Sylveon). Funny additional fun fact: while breeding for all the needed Mons i hatched a unsuspected shiny treeko which i will probably name foofootoo.
If (or when) I make this team, I might want something with Draining Kiss instead of Recover, so you get some kind of recovery AND not be afraid of Dark types. That would be something like Sylveon, Magearna, Diancie, or the Lake Trio.
PYUKUMUKU IS ACTUALLY ABLE TO ATTACK IN GEN 8 BECAUSR COUNTER BECOMES MAX KNUCKLE AND MIRROR COAT BECOMES MAX MINDSTORM. Now, I know this is a tall order, but is there any way you could use dynamax pyukumuku to sweep in any way?
What if Shelmet can have a 2nd evolution method of needing to learn Shell Smash, using it in battle, while gaining a level after in order to evolve instead of trading? Then Karrablast just needs Iron Defense and go through the same route
Dang! That's a neat strategy! I wanted to figure out what to do with the Unburden Sceptile I got from the Dynamax Adventure! Now I have an idea, thanks! :o Also, on the topic of the Drifblim with Minimize and Baton Pass, I raised one of my own, but it has Acrobatics just to give it something to use against taunts. It does get Unburden, so it can benefit from it! >:3
I kept looking for a Sceptile set to see what other people are doing with him. I was going for something like white herb, scale shot, sword dance. I'm glad I found this, I'm going to make a team with all my favorite pokemon now. Umbreon passing curse will be interesting.
I do wanna see something like this or a ability/item using strategy from a tsareena that allows it to be faster than dragapult or some Pokemon that tends to outspeed a lot of other pokemon and hit super hard, not that it can hit hard already as it pretty much can as 120 isn't anything to laugh at, but It's one of my favourite grass types and I don't see much of it despite it being an OU tier Pokemon the last time I saw it.
Tsareena is pretty good in doubles because it protects your Pokemon from Fake Out. Sometimes it sees use in restricted formats in which Ubers are allowed, and that might be what the main series of VGC formats will be this year
@@foofootoo ah, I see, and yeah, that is true as it does have that ability to get rid of priority moves like fake out and sucker punch which can be dangerous. I do wanna see it being used as a sweeping Pokemon tho as it does have good coverage with triple Axel, high jump kick and other moves that are high powered, and has a solid 120 attack stat to back it up, but with its around 70 speed, it won't be able to outspeed things that can be seen as threats like chandelure or any form of ninetales. It also doesn't gain access to rock moves as far as I'm aware of so it can't cover its own weaknesses as amazingly as it would be able to do

That's the beauty of having played the game so long, you see strategies go in and out of fashion and so it's easier to catch people off guard with the more niche ones xD
Always have had fun with pyuku, stats are very reminiscent of pex and it can cheese with block. Edit: woah foo what are you saying about tickling your little cucumber
Baton Pass was banned for many good reasons. Using baton pass is SO simple, anyone can do it and it's a very cheap strategy. You literally may as well just be spamming Sand Attack which does also hit Flying and levitate pokemon. Durant is one of the best pokemon to fairly handicap the opponent OR you can go full offensive with it. Baton pass is a "minimal skill" strategy for a reason. Because at that ponit why not just use Umbreon, though i do see why you'd want to use Pykumuku, it's still an "unfair strat". Baton Pass should be known as a "banned move".
Thx about the pyukumuku thing because I got a shiny one that I leveled up to 100 because it is my first shiny with normal chanes because I got a shiny garydos with the chanes increaseed
He kind of sounds like Wilbursoot thanks for the strategy my friend always destroys me and I’m hoping this team helps me I just have to convince to use legendary pokemon Edit: Sadly it failed pykumuku and Shelley were countered easily with my friends sirfethed with leaf blade and cinderace’s pyro ball
Oh dear!! Sirfetch'd is actually one of the few Pokemon that can be a real problem because it crits very frequently which will ignore your defense boosts
ah sceptile, my favourite mon and one that has one of the biggest identity crisis out of the 900 that exists. Superb pysical movepool, average attack. Decent SPA but almost zero coverage and no special boosting move. Feels bad
I really like the creative strategies you use. It's just a more fun way to play pokemon to come up with your own things and to use unique strategies rather than just using the best meta pokemon and movesets, just copying them brainlessly.
Obviously Taunt can be a problem for this strategy, so I did consider running a Mental Herb on Pyukumuku to allow it to Taunt the Taunt users, but it's also an option to use Cinderace and Tyranitar to brute force through Taunt users if necessary [:

That's the beauty of having played the game so long, you see strategies go in and out of fashion and so it's easier to catch people off guard with the more niche ones xD
was lowkey hoping i could use this in competitive but i forgot you don't play smogon singles
still a fun set tho
Baton Pass should be known as a "banned move".
i expected the pyukumuku to do soak in doubles - boy was i wrong! this strategy is genius!
Thx about the pyukumuku thing because I got a shiny one that I leveled up to 100 because it is my first shiny with normal chanes because I got a shiny garydos with the chanes increaseed
He kind of sounds like Wilbursoot thanks for the strategy my friend always destroys me and I’m hoping this team helps me I just have to convince to use legendary pokemon
Edit: Sadly it failed pykumuku and Shelley were countered easily with my friends sirfethed with leaf blade and cinderace’s pyro ball
Oh dear!! Sirfetch'd is actually one of the few Pokemon that can be a real problem because it crits very frequently which will ignore your defense boosts
@@foofootoo I know he critted the pyukumuku with leaf blade and cinder ace pyro balled Shellmet the Appletun strategy of yours is very nice tho
@@foofootoo but here’s the thing it made so many people quit on ranked
ah sceptile, my favourite mon and one that has one of the biggest identity crisis out of the 900 that exists. Superb pysical movepool, average attack. Decent SPA but almost zero coverage and no special boosting move. Feels bad
Yeah it's kinda painful, Earth Power and Nasty Plot would be insane movepool additions. Or just switching the attack and SpA stats round...
Normal baton pass statutes are pretty bad but the way you used the white here redeems you
I really like the creative strategies you use. It's just a more fun way to play pokemon to come up with your own things and to use unique strategies rather than just using the best meta pokemon and movesets, just copying them brainlessly.
