Kitten Cannon, Wordle, Candy Crush, Farmville (probably the most virulent game of all-time, particularly because of its intrusion into the lives of millions who didn't play it), Stick Figure Penalty, Happy Fall, Happy Jump, Getting Over It, Minecraft, etc, etc, etc...
Man, I haven’t heard the name “Happy Wheels” in a long time, I used to watch Captainsparklez play that one for a large chunk of my childhood.
That and QWOP feels like a lifetime ago doesn't it?😅
They put a preview of Untitled Goose Game and I expected it to be number 1. Other contenders I expected to see on this list would be Undertale, Farmville, Fall Guys, Getting Over It and Mario Maker. Honestly, there's enough to make a whole second list and I wouldn't be surprised if we see that.

Piano Tiles, Temple Run, Angry Bird, Fruit Ninja, Genshin Impact
When they make the second one, they need to include Getting Over It, since they included his earlier game, QWOP.

Mystic Messenger will always be the definitive viral game to me
Flappy bird is a "fly the copter"-knockoff. I played the copter years prior to that bird having been conceived.
I lost interest in Among Us when the meta turned it into “Lying: the Game”.
Doki Doki Literature Club should have made the list, a lot of people weren't all that familiar with Japanese visual novels until that came along and wasn't just good, but free.
The designer of QWOP also made the similarly hilariously frustrating game Getting Over It as well as the indie darling VVVVVV.
"I wanna be the guy" was also a frustrating game that became popular.
There's more I can think of
Doki Doki Literature Club, and Jackbox Party Pack.
Vampire Survivors went from the bottom of Steam barrel to an award-winning phenomenon almost exclusively thanks to streamers picking it from the trash and enjoying the shizz out of it.
The game does look like a cheap piece of crap at a glance, but damn it’s fun.
