A food cart with no advertising whatsoever that serves a container of food completely full with falafel, char-grilled chicken and vegetables, rice, and secret sauce all for only $10.
You only can order one at a time. If you want another you will have to get back in line.
The operator apparently has been there on Ludlow St. and S 20th St. for over a decade.
He is known for his entertaining rants and is only open from 12PM to 2PM, MON-FRI.
He is sometimes compared to the soup nazi from Seinfeld television show. He is not rude or mean, but sure does carry on about what he wants to say.
The food smelled so good and everything tasted amazing. Fresh. Chicken was surprisingly moist and had great flavor, especially from the smoke of the char-grilling. Today’s plate was also pleasantly adorned with plump blueberries and grapes.
Also, he does not sell anything else and also does not provide utensils or napkins. Most people go to the Starbucks a few feet away for that.
The name of the truck “Octopus” may not be official, it’s believed to be a social media name given to the cart.
Lol he’s the type of guy who says he doesn’t talk a lot but rambles on endlessly hahaha

Don’t say anything negative about his food or question the ways in which he cooks and your good to go. Seems that way with watching multiple different interactions with him
Actually his whole thing is no menu no talking ans just line up give money and take what he makes .. but I guess his coming out his shell a bit nowadays 😂

Was thinking the same thing, there's a story behind this chef! Though he has denied being a chef, LOL! Netflix should do it. Like on their Chef's Table series.
apparently he used to own a Greek restaurant in the 90s the theory behind the truck is in reverberance of someone he lost.

Ate there regularly about 10 years ago. He was a chef in restaurants but gave that up. He is Greek. He doesn't run it as a money-making business, but as a passion. His ingredients must cost close to $10. He prepares each meal one at a time meaning it is a 5 plus minute wait per customer. half the people in line get tired of waiting and leave.

I was so sure he's Greek !!!! From the first time I heard him in a video. If I ever make a trip from Greece to Philly I'll pay him a visit !!!
It was so Unusual that this guy shows up on the Algorithm , I live in Chicago , and if i was to ever visit Philly forget stopping to get a Cheese Steak Sandwich my first stop is to Octopus Falaffel!
LOL, that's funny! I found him when I was doing research on these types of carts. Found a used cart in Philly from a private seller, but still managed to visit the builder of these carts in Philly and decided to check out this character in his food cart. He cracks me up! Thank you for your comment!

I still can't get over how amazing this guy is.
Where else can you possibly get grapes and grape tomatoes, roasted peppers and asparagus, maybe some blueberries in one container for $10... forget about the falafel, meat or anything else in that container.

It just doesn't happen.
Oh my god, the grapes were a real surprise in how well they worked with the dish. They provided a refreshing crisp burst of sweetness that complimented everything. The blueberries did the same thing to but in a slightly tart fashion. Yeah, it was two meals worth, and I enjoyed every bit of it. As you can see in the video, he pauses as he catches me recording him on my iPhone 13 Mini, and I simply smiled and waved to him real friendly-like because I was excited to have caught him and still serving. I came across other videos of him on UA-cam because I was doing research on food carts from the manufacturer who made this one. It's unique in that it has a char-broiler built in with a hood! Which is exactly what I need. So, I was there to check it out. ANYWAY, I got in line, and was still taking quick vids here and there for research and it was my turn. I turned the camera off and he said, "you don't have to turn the camera off, go ahead, you can take video!" I was so relieved when he said that, and all the nervous tension melted away inside. Then he cut up a big piece of chicken for me and offered it to me, straight off the point of a big sharp chef's knife. I pulled it off, being semi-mindful he doesn't try to cut my hand off with a swift wrist flick. Man, the chicken was so moist, I exclaimed, and he looked at me and smiled. He was so nice to me, made my day! :-D

The charcoal he uses puts so much flavor on the chicken. Plus, he has some special sauce he puts on it that I couldn't figure out but good! People in line were telling me it's the best falafel. It was definitely good.

@@frankcanha unwashed another vid on this food truck and everyone is saying hie good and fresh the food is. I'm Canadian and would love to try it, I would have to go to Philly of course. Made my mouth water looking at the freshness and the amount you get for $10. A big mac is more and not fresh and nasty.
@@yolandawilson9852 When it was my turn, he immediately offered me a piece of chicken to try and it was so good, moist and flavorful, especially with the smoke on it. Definitely a destination place because of the food and him being such a character.

@@The_Gallowglass Yup, I was just visiting Philly and found him on UA-cam doing research on these food carts. He saw me taking the video and I gave him an enthusiastic and friendly smile and wave hello. I got in line after the video and when it was my turn, he immediately gave me a piece of chicken to try! He didn't do that for anyone else and It was SO good! Made my day! Then he counted me and two others behind me and said you guys will be the last customers. I thanked him and gave him much respect.
