This is a very informative video and I love the fact that you included the ceremony blessing the new production line. We used to have candy cigarettes when I was growing up but then came the much-publicized link between smoking and lung cancer, and candy cigarettes was one of the casualties of that time. Retro candy is a big thing here in America and online posts say you can still get them, but they have disappeared from stores, gas stations, etc. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the time to make this video.❤❤❤ Watching from North Carolina, USA.
We used to have candy cigarettes here too in America. I think they were banned though because they didn't want kids thinking that smoking is good. I haven't seen them for sale since the 1980s. There used to be bubble gum cigars too.
I was going to make this exact same comment. You could even "smoke" them by blowing air through the candy cigarette and a little puff of finely powdered sugar would come out! Then the concernstipated killjoy moms got them banned. 😒
Here in Japan, a wide variety of cigarette-shaped sweets are sold domestically, including cheap ones for children, high-end cigar-shaped chocolates for adults, and imported products such as Italian-made Warcor cigar chocolates. Bite-sized chocolates containing liquor and whiskey bonbons are also popular. Chabako(cha=茶=tea, bako=箱=box), a box that looks just like a cigarette and its contents, tea leaves stick that look just like cigarettes, are also selling well. OP says that cigarette-shaped sweets have a bad influence on children, and that may be true. When I was about 3 or 4 years old, I tried to stuff cigarette butts and ashes from the ashtray in the living room into my mouth and eat them. I coughed and spit out ashes, choked on the cigarette butt, and said, ``This doesn't taste good...'' My parents came running, picked me up, took me to the kitchen, made me gargle, and scolded me, saying, ``What are you doing, you idiot!'', hit me on the head, and I cried...
Thank you very much for including the ritual at the start. The culture of the country is extremely important to every manufacturing process, and even if the ceremony does nothing it's still important as tradition, and it shows the importance placed on smooth running and safety.
Ever since watching the anime Dagashi Kashi, I've developed a love for those small 100-yen candy. Unlike western candy, a lot of these aren't even sweet. Whenever I'm in Japan, I try to find some I haven't tried yet. I don't come across authentic Dagashi-ya often anymore, though. Such a pity.
This is how tech and religion should meet. Do the rituals and all but keep things and surroundings clean. But in India they will litter everything in the name of religion and rituals.
I remember the pretend candy syringe that you could inject a sweet syrup straight into your mouth; and the sour candy nasal spray for when you pretend overdosed. The good old days.
imitating adults can't understand in first but when I see the result I remember my childhood eating that kind of candy while imitating adults taking a real cigarette😂😂 thank you for the vid and memory keep it up.
I remember I had those cigarette candy once during my childhood, but I didn't have those shortly afterward. It's because the government banned it due to it would give bad influence to the children.

So, Big Tobacco is losing money in Japan as they are having less children, leading to less new smokers as the older one die off . This appears to be an attempt to normalize smoking for the few children that are born. Capitalism at it's finest. I expect nothing better 😐
Wait until you realize that the tablets simulate taking Hiropon. 😂 Seriously though, it's all about taking kids' allowance. You're overthinking things, and imagining some grand conspiracy where there is only simple economics.

They still exist. They only got banned in one state.

I am happy to see this production line. @15:20 The vending machine paper crafts is a fun idea.

I love the description. The way it is worded is great.

Best of Best 👍
