  • Five years ago, thousands were having the time of their lives at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, a country music event on The Strip in Las Vegas, when suddenly bullets began hailing from the sky. Stephen Paddock had opened fire on the crowd of 22,000 from the Mandalay Bay hotel, killing 60 and injuring hundreds. Autumn Bignami and her husband were there on Oct. 1, 2017. Autumn was shot three times and fought to survive. She is sharing her story with Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall.

My cousin was trampled and had spine damage along with severe mental damage. PTSD and disassociative disease ( she blacks out with sounds, smells and touch that remind her of that day) the injuries surrounding her were as bad as a battlefront. A man was pulled down under a table in an attempt to help him , he was dead. My cousin has started screaming and shaking uncontrollably in a store when someone made a noise associated to that day. People kept saying to her " I'm glad you're not injured " and yet she's just not bleeding, she's very injured.

I went to Paramount High school, graduated 2012. Although I didn't have Mrs. Bignami as a teacher, I always heard good things about her and Mr. Bignami. It is inspiring to see how she continues in life and the positive outlook she has. Wishing the best for the Bignami's.

I tend to focus on the people who died during these tragedies and not those who survived with serious injuries. Thank you, Inside Edition for sharing one of those stories.

Note to ALL. If you hear popping noises, you MUST assume it's gunfire and NOT fireworks. Seek cover immediately. Especially if you have NEVER been around guns.

After all of what she went thru, and the struggles living everyday life after all this damage and yet she keeps a BEAUTIFUL SMILE ON HER FACE!! God bless her and her family! Definitely brought tears just hearing her story and seeing her kids. Im glad she made it back to them again.

On top of everything she endured, to not live in fear after something so horrific shows how incredible Autumn truly is.

Autumn is such a strong and positive woman. I am happy that her family still has her in their lives. I hope she continues to improve and move forward. I will never understand why a person would hurt or kill random people. The only explanation I find is that there is evil amongst us.

I have a good friend who was there and although she made it out physically, she struggles with PTSD to this day and is still in therapy. We lost 3 people from our city in Ca. that night, one was a friend of my daughters.

I can’t believe this. This woman survived 3 bullets. The amount of blood she was losing, the pain she was in, the true fear she was in and yet still managed to survive. This woman is so incredibly strong. Her husband did so well trying to protect her and get her to survive. I’m truly so impressed. Next time i’ll think twice about thinking i’m going to die of a simple wound.

I teared up during her whole testimony... tears of joy that her and her husband made it back to their kids...and tears of sadness for the ones that didn't make it home.. I can only imagine the sheer terror that day was and still is for her, the other survivors and their families..

I love how you can tell she doesn’t let the trauma bring her down and she’s very strong emotionally and mentally talking about it for people

Autumn has always been one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. Watching her and her family go through this has been truly heartbreaking. But anyone who knows her, knows she has stayed so positive during her recovery and I admire her being able speak out on such a traumatic day that changed her whole world forever. I pray the other survivors and the families of those lost get to heal and find peace. 💕

I was there that night.... a stranger literally threw me over a barricade and another pushed me into a car of yet another stranger. Too many people weren't so lucky... I'm really happy she's okay but I'm so sorry for everything she had to go through and to be unlucky enough to be shot 3 different times...everyone keeps saying "the 58 people killed..." no, 60 people were killed, it just took over 2yrs for the other 2 to pass, which is awful... this has been a trauma not just for those of us who were there, but for this whole city. This still hurts everyone who lives here. I pray Autumn continues to heal physically and emotionally. I really hope the best for her..

As someone who has suffered from two collapsed lungs from spontaneous pneumothorax… I can’t imagine what this woman went through. It was miserable enough just dealing with that. My heart aches for her going through that experience. ❤
