    I have a banshee. I checked the lower end rod bearing there's no up and down play but there seems to be a lot of side to side play. Can that cause a wrist pin bearing to fail because I had a wrist pin bearing fail. I'm wondering if that's the problem is the lower end?

    Taking apart my bottom end on my 2019 yz 250 the crankshaft assembly fell out of the case without needing to be pressed out. What would cause this or does that mean the crankshaft needs to be replaced?

  • @jay1871

    PLEASE reply guys. I have a ‘21 YZ250 I’m working on. I can’t find any information.. small end free play is stated maximum of .039” in the manual. I’m currently measuring .045 overall (play from all the way left to all the way right). Please provide some insight on this as the NEW crank you measure in the video showed .040” on the dial - “out of spec” per service manual.. the same manual that recommends 12 hour piston changes. The bike has 30.2 total hours since purchased new.

    • @jay1871
      @jay1871 Рік тому

      Sorry it seems that I misread the information. It looks like .045 is well within the spec. .080 is the limit. I’m gonna leave it up unedited so you can comment or maybe a future searcher can find it better. Thanks!

    hey, i hope y’all respond. my crank has a bit of side to side play, my engine has no knocking noises or anything. if i move my crank to the left it has absolutely zero play up and down, but if i move it more to the right it has probably 0.5cm of up and down play. what’s the cause? i think my bearings are fine but is this normal ?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 роки тому +1

      How many hours are on the crank? Side to side play is pretty common but up and down play is no good. You also want to look at your service to see if they give a spec for play in the crank. But up and down is a sign that bearings are going bad.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Рік тому

      As far as we know the the connecting rod will come with the big end rod bearing so they are not available separately. We carry the Pro X connecting rod which will work great. You could also go the OEM route but both will last a very long time.

    I need a connecting rod and bearings for a 2016 Yamaha YZ-250F . Can you help me out? Can I not just replace the connecting rod if that's all it needs ? It snapped

    • @brettnorsworthy7834
      @brettnorsworthy7834 3 роки тому

      You need to split the cases and make sure it didn't poke any holes anywhere. When my rod snapped it broke on the downstroke and left my freshly rebuilt head alone. It did however karate chop the cases, balancer, and transmission.

    hi Rocky Mountain ATV MC do you sell the V-Blocks for the crank shaft in the video as well?

    • @rmatvmc

      Hi Aris, we currently don't offer any V-blocks but are working on getting some listed. For now you could check with your local tool supplier or check with a friend or local mechanic to see if they would let you borrow some.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 роки тому +1

      If you have play in your connecting rod you are definitely going to hear it. I would describe it more like a "knock" more than a "tick". Ticking could be something else going on.

    If there's excess side to side clearance why not just put the crank on a press and tighten the clearance a thou or 2?

    • @jeffmueller9059
      @jeffmueller9059 3 роки тому +1

      Yes if your installing new parts that's how you get the correct side clearance, if its used and past limit spec then its worn out (thrust washers) thinning out usually or burnt out if you were to press crank to get side clearance back to spec its just a bomb waiting to blow up

  • @andrewcooksey2255
    @andrewcooksey2255 Місяць тому

    All of your comments are subjective. You need to provide actual measurements so the user will know if the lower rod bearing is good or bad. Yes, you show measuring the rod side movement, but no correlation to the up and down play, which is what you really want to know. You also can not make the statement that there should be no up and down play, as brand new from the factory they have about .0005".
