I am haitian too but I was born and raised in Canada.I had my first relaxer at the age of 6. I remember,as a young child, as soon as that kinky new growth kicked in, I would get nasty comments (especially from my mother) saying my hair looks disgusting and matted. It took me a loooooong time to accept my 4c texture. I am now 31 years old and officially stopped relaxing in January 2020. Baby steps!

Accepting your hair can be hard. It was big in their generation as far as good hair versus bad hair. I had a relaxer at the age of 2. I love and showcase my 4c hair to inspire others. It is just as beautiful as other hair types

Wow this hit home. This statement is so true. Mom and I weren't affectionate in a way where you said I love you and gave out hugs. It's super sad. She passed away two years ago and lord do I wish we would have said and done more. It was just unsaid...although we knew we loved each other. Smother your moms with love...even if they dont know how to. Lol they'll get used to it

Hey Love! Love this video!! It went to a Predominantly all white school and that made me self conscious about a lot. I never want my daughter to feel that way so it’s so important for me to provide books and other outlets that represents her. I personally stopped wearing weave years ago and don’t think I will because I want my daughter to grow up loving her natural hair and I will be an example that. Love seeing you and your mom together. Love this companies mandate !!

I'm so glad I found you and starpuppy. I did the big chop back in March and kept a fade all summer because I was scared of growing my hair out, but watching you and starpuppy have made me love my hair.

Haitian parents are (mostly) all the same 😂. I had relaxers since 1st or 2nd grade. Finally decided to buzz it all of and start fresh natural. My parents were not happy! It's been two years and my hair is healthier and longer than it was before (when stretched), but they still ask me when I'm going to "do something" with my hair. But these products seem great!

This video gave me so much emotion. I love seeing you two together. I can probably count how many times my mom told me that she was proud of me or that she loves me. Not to say that she doesn’t. It’s was just not something expressed when she was young and it trickled down to me and my siblings. But I wanted to break the cycle and I make sure to tell her that I love her on a regular basis. I so need those products. My hair have a mind of its own. Lol. When I usually have my hair in a twist out and want it to last, I usually band it. I used to let the twist out do whatever but then it’ll get matted and tangled. No bueño.

I’ve been trying to figure out my hair type, finally figured that I have a mixture of 4a and mostly 4c. I wish my hair was all 4c, which is stronger than the other strands. I remember when I first went natural...I would always receive comments about me needing to straighten my hair...funny enough it would be from hair stylist and strangers. My hubby he was okay with my hair as long as it was neat. I don’t get those questions or consents anymore, I guess everyone is starting to come around.
