    SCP-3426 │ Reckoner │ Keter │ ZK-λ-Class Cosmic Fragmentation Scenario
    Item #: SCP-3426
    Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Until the nature of SCP-3426 can be definitively ascertained, containment should focus on preventing as many of the theorized conditions for its occurrence as possible. As such, scientific progress into a unified physics hypothesis and the creation of infinitely sustainable energy should be heavily impeded. Other areas of social and technological progress that could potentially result in an occurrence of SCP-3426 on Earth must be prevented by any reasonable means currently available. Additional measures may be taken in the event that the collective human race approaches attainment of Type I civilization status (as defined on the Kardeshev scale).

The 1990s space exploration game "Star Control 2" is mostly known for its comedy but when you investigate the homeworld of the Androsynth it briefly turns into a horror game. The world is silent. The androsynth cities are intact, there is no signs of war but the androsynth themselves are completely missing. Eventually the away team finds a working computer and as they read the files and get into what the androsynth were researchers one of the researchers locks the others out of the room and continues reading alone. When the other break in the researching yells at them to stay away and insists that they can't allow them to see what he has seen, that even knowing about them will cause them to find you. Suddenly claw marks appear across his body. They can't stop it and he dies. Realizing their might be some truth to his seemingly insane raving they decide to return empty handed.
The androsynth territory is now inhabited by the Orz. Your universal translator malfunctions and some of the words they use are replaced with others. For example "dancing" actually refers to battle, implying they have an odd way of thinking about violence. You can form an alliance with them but if you keep asking about the androsynth they will "dance" with you instead.
Talking to another mysterious race, the Arilou admit that they have tampered with humanity in the past to help uplift them and to hide them from another race. The Arilou come from an alternate dimension that exists "above" and this threat exists "below" and they can't tell you more because "your ignorance acts as a shield" preventing them from being able to "smell" you.

That dancing thing reminds me of an animorphs book. In one of the books the animorphs participated as the pawns of two higher powers, the classic good vs evil sorta deal. The good power choose the animorphs and the Evil power choose its own artificial lifeforms called the howlers. The animorphs morph into one of them and discover that the howlers are all children, they never live past 5 years and any howler that ever loses in a fight is killed so it can't share the concepts of pain or loss with the other howlers who aren't aware of the concepts and think that they're playing some kind of game.

This is different, you don't know what the f*ck is going on there is no logic or any sense into what is going on, it just erases, shatters and destroys everything you've ever known without knowing why. The very molecules you are made up of forget how to function, you're rendered into nothing, and that's one of the greatest fears of a human and it's why this SCP stands out, the fear of not understanding what is going on

Have you heard the good news of Jesus Christ?

You may think that, when you die, what you did in life chooses where you go-- or even that you don't go anywhere at all! But that's wrong, because the Bible says that it is only through belief in Christ that we are saved.

Think about it! The Bible, God's Word, is of infinite importance! Salvation is the difference between eternal life and eternal death. *If you do not place faith in Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, and you're wrong, what do you think happens?*

You may think that what you do impacts where you go. You may think that you're a "good person" and that God, All-Powerful and All-Loving and All-Merciful would not judge you. But that is wrong!

"8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8)

We *all* have sinned, and we *all* fall short of the glory of God. Even if the worst thing you ever did is steal a cookie, you have still sinned. God is of perfect love, but God is of perfect justice, too.

      BUT THERE IS HOPE!

God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus Christ lived *a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose again on the third day!* He conquered sin *for us*, so that we may be forgiven.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

So *all you need to do to have eternal life* is believe in the Lord Jesus Christ-- believe in the Son of God. Turn away from a life of sin into a life that's good!

"When you sin, the pay you get is death. But God gives you the gift of eternal life. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done." (Romans 6:23)

Jesus never sinned, but died for ours. And, to have eternal life, we need to be saved from sin. And Jesus, our Lord and our Savior, died for us!

So how do you get saved? How do you get eternal life?
      1. Believe in Jesus
This is the most important. It is only through faith-- not works-- that give the free gift of eternal life.

Believe that Jesus, the Son of God, was born as a human, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose again three days later.

      2. Understand that you have sinned, and that you are a sinner.
Everyone, from all over the world, has sinned. But Jesus never sinned. Jesus Christ never sinned, but He paid the wages of our sin by His death. He died, and on the third day, rose again, so that we could live.

      3. Ask God to forgive your sins, and try to do better.

Once you understand that you are a sinner, tell God that you believe, pray for your forgiveness and pray that God helps you not to sin.

Do your best not to sin, but if you slip up, that's okay! God forgives you if you ask Him to.

God loves you, no matter what.

You can always read the Bible for more information. The Bible is God's Word, and God is the ultimate authority.

    • @HyenaDandy
      @HyenaDandy 8 місяців тому +71

@@FullArcher05in case you haven't searched somewhere else: A pattern screamer is something that disproved Descartes "I think therefore I am. " A pattern screamer is not... But it can think anyway.
It is, essentially, a piece of sentient, stubborn non-existence. This is often represented in articles by writing things into the page's source code or in text the same color as the background.
Think of it like... Say you're watching a movie. What is behind the camera when you're watching a movie?
Nothing. Not just emptiness, because emptiness implies the possibility of fullness.
Now in real life, the answer would be that a camera operator is behind the camera. But of course in a film, the camera isn't actually there. In a film, the only thing that exists is what's on screen. Things offscreen are implied to exist, but they don't.
Imagine, though, that you are in the world of a movie. Not in the sense of Last Action Hero where you can look around and see more than was filmed. You're in the world of the movie that was filmed. You can't look behind you because behind you doesn't exist. You can't talk to the characters because you're not a character. You can't fast forward or rewind because you don't have a remote. Even if you did, you can't press it. Because you don't exist. To interact with anything, at all, you must in some way exist. But you don't. You can't do anything except think.
And eventually you'll run out of things to think about.
And then all you can do is scream.
And then you become a pattern screamer.
Okay. So what's so dangerous about something that doesn't exist? What you don't know can't hurt you after all...
But if you flip that around, then what you do know can hurt you.
The danger of the pattern screamer is that it fundamentally does not exist. And in fact it so fundamentally does not exist that its non-existence persists even when it SHOULD become something.
So let's say that someone, somehow, noticed the nonexistent you. You might think this is good. But it actually becomes worse. Because what they noticed was nothing. What they noticed cannot conceivably exist. So they can't think about it. Which means that whatever part of them is doing the noticing must ALSO not exist. Since it is now containing the nothing. And since the nothing is not merely an absence of thing, but is fundamentally not a thing, it cannot be contained in one's thoughts. Any box you put it in ceases to exist, because the only way to interact with something that does not exist is if you yourself don't exist.
And then that part of the mind of the person who noticed you becomes like you. Until like you, it can only scream.

      Pattern screamers are that, patterns
They do not exist on their own, they're nothing
However when we interact with nothing our minds create patterns, and when we interact with patterns they cling into existence, and those patterns hate whatever is bringing them into existence because they are aware that we get to exist - to be real - and they dont
Not all of these patterns are things we created with our minds though, some are patterns of things that ceased to be, to exist, as impossible that is and the leftovers are only kept existing through the interaction with existing thing and these are the ones who hate us and envy us the most
The worse of them all are the patterns left of former existences that predated our universe, who were erased so we could be, still attached to existence through us, blaming us for their damned existence or lack of it and wanting to become existent, truly real, by stealing that from us, erasing us to subject us to what they were subjected despite *they* not being real at all, not anymore anyways, even though once something ceases to exist it never existed at all - a fate they desire for us

This is my favorite SCP, and I've been requesting it for a while. Thank you! Great addition.
I've thought about this SCP a lot. There are some theories that this is a sort of "weapon" by an extremely advanced species, but I prefer a more naturalistic explanation.
To me, this SCP seems to suggest that "coherence" is a local, limited, and depleting resource in the universe that is tied to the strength of reality in an area. Using any form of logic, math, science, anything that relies on the universe making sense, in order to solve a problem, or manifest some technological invention, depletes coherence and the resulting strength of reality.
Something like the invention and mass production of automobiles would perhaps have a negligible, but detectable, depletion of coherence and a weakening of our reality - but once we're at the stage of building dyson spheres, the resource has been significantly used up. This would mean that technological innovation ultimately leads to the breakdown of reality, and that a sort of "unknowing trade" is happening in that the strength of reality is traded for technological advancement. The civilizations affected by this SCP simply depleted their local coherence through social and technological advancement to the point of a full collapse of reality.
This SCP is also an elegant answer to the Fermi Paradox, clearly.

This is an incredible concept, seems to be quite a plausible reponse that the universe acts upon (maybe involuntarily) to ensure constancy during its lifetime. Say if this phenomenon did not occur - multiple civilisations would grow exponentially in intelligence and influence in accordance to the Kardashev scale. The implications of this growth would most likely inevitably destroy the universe as a whole, so perhaps this act is a rubberband response to prevent such a growth to snowball - and not necessarily with evil intent, but as a necessity to maintain stability. You can think of it as the cosmic version of mother nature creating natural forest fires to clear out debris in order to prevent larger disasters.

Basically put, it is a major obstacle that life must overcome in order to progress to the next stage. For instance, the process of simple life forms becoming complex, and the formation of cellular organisms. Could be that most life in the universe never gets that far for one reason or another.
From there, single cells cooperating to form multi cellular organisms, or becoming diverse and present enough to spread to new environments, even the development of intelligence. Any number of these factors could be the so called “great filter” that explains why we don’t see life anywhere else. Why we seem to be alone in an expansive and planet populated universe.

This skip is related to Pattern Screamers and "the pattern" of nonexistence, which have a moderately-hard sci-fi backing but first appear as soft sci-fi. Any time they show up it's totally inexplicable absurdity, often with entry gimmicks like text being hidden in page source. Connecting the disparate articles that have them or mention them paints an existentially bleak picture about perception and end-of-time civilizations that got utterly wrecked by dimension-hopping.
Lots of Pattern Screamers are bound in either compressed dimensions or the mechanical arrangements of particles, with poorly controlled avatars in our world. Often the proof of their existence only really exists as extremely improbable results in chaotic but generally predictable phenomenon, like the arrangements of wind-blown particles landing on something. It's a "Jesus on Toast" sort of thing.
The voids of nonexistence are sort of like wormholes between universes/dimensions/timelines which grow in size and create more chaotic perception-reflecting holograms the more they're perceived, and they utterly obliterate all known physics as objects pass into the void. The perception can be from sapient beings as we know them, but they can also be things like geological processes or other data-encoding macro phenomenon. If you've ever heard of the blackhole information paradox, it's like that. Expeditions into them are extremely discouraged due to the probability of perceiving sacrificed explorers as still real long after their mind gets replaced by insane holograms.
See SCPs 2528, 2682, 3340, 3930 for an introduction. 1678 and 1795 imply that humanity was/is/will-be one such civilization that has went into the void, and that we got off pretty damn lucky despite it all.

SCP to do with them tend to have things related to erasure and information/data in them. The implication in this SCP is that these worlds advanced to the point where they were trying to fiddle around with and explore the building blocks of the universe itself and accidently exposed themselves to various pattern screamers who proceeded to alter the reality of and erase their worlds in various ways in an attempt to enter it and gain form.

Being on it felt uncannily similar to how reality being undone is described here, though I technically experienced it in reverse since I can only remember coming out of the trip and not falling into it. I very vividly remember the initial sense of complete and total disconnect from everything; reality, time, space, my body, the very fact that 'I' as a concept even existed was completely beyond me. Some of these writers capture the feeling so accurately that I cant help but wonder if they've also had vivid unreality experiences in their own lives. For everyone who might find it interesting, this scp is based on one of the answers to the Fermi paradox called the "great filter".
Here's an exampt of the wiki article:
"It posits that in the development of life from the earliest stages of abiogenesis to reaching the highest levels of development on the Kardashev scale, there exists some particular barrier to development that makes detectable extraterrestrial life exceedingly rare.[1][2]
The concept originates in Robin Hanson's argument that the failure to find any extraterrestrial civilizations in the observable universe implies that something is wrong with one or more of the arguments (from various scientific disciplines) that the appearance of advanced intelligent life is probable; this observation is conceptualized in terms of a "Great Filter" which acts to reduce the great number of sites where intelligent life might arise to the tiny number of intelligent species with advanced civilizations actually observed (currently just one: human).[3] This probability threshold, which could lie behind us (in our past) or in front of us (in our future), might work as a barrier to the evolution of intelligent life, or as a high probability of self-destruction.[1][4] The main conclusion of this argument is that the easier it was for life to evolve to our stage, the bleaker our future chances probably are."

    • @pyark
      @pyark Рік тому +1

@Eric Nunya while I agree that is the most likely parameter, the Fermi paradox also speaks of signs of other living beings not being present. Like radio waves, objects blocking stars, etc. But again I would contribute that to the fact that we can't possibly observe everything in the night sky at once, and that we live on a relatively "old" planet, meaning we are possibly way ahead evolutionary of other potential lifeforms.

Perhaps it is one of the entities specific to this SCP that has the job of erasing its own existence (as it is a part of the greater 3426 situation). There needs to be a word for dreadful exhilaration. Or maybe, awe-filled angst... I bet the Hittites had one. Well done, Dr. M. You've made the Great Filter palpable.
If you need me I'll be over here rocking in the corner.

Honestly with SCP's like SCP-3200 and SCP-3426 space seems like complete hell in the foundation universe. Like the entire solar system and some surrounding stars are normal but the rest is anomalous, and there's that one SCP where they literally find a planet made of cotton candy. The idea though, that everything outside our solar system is insane and anomalous is scary af.

That wasn't a natural part of the universe in that cotton candy one. It was one of many galaxy sized "duplicate rooms" created by the imperfect solution to turning The Architect off ("put it outside so it has no house to expand").

3930 has an older sister 6930 who was a pattern screamer but got therapy, achieved reality and even a physical form and became a streamer to reconnect with society, oddly wholesome at least as far as the pattern screamer genre goes.
