I am extremely afraid of not making friends. I'm also scared of being the youngest because I am only 19 and I'm afraid people will be older and not want to be my friend
I did a three week program at Lexis a year ago too. It was around Halloween. I liked the school. My Korean level is pre intermediate too which is an awkward place to be because you still sound like a beginner but at least for me I’ve already studied all the beginner grammar and vocabulary quite a bit. But you can’t necessarily tell that when talking to me 😂. Maybe it’s better than a year ago. I think they put me in the low beginner class and after I complained they moved to the upper beginner class. I think the jump from high beginner to low intermediate is really big. If they had bumped me up another class my poor ability to output would have slowed the class down most likely. So I didn’t ask to get bumped up again even though I knew all the grammar. I only knew about half the vocab in the book we studied but in my defense the words I didn’t know seemed pretty advanced unless I wanted to work as a nurse maybe. Do you recommend the online classes?
hey I think the online classes were pretty good, but it's hard to compare that experience to the IRL classes tbh. still useful tho! I think I was in pre-intermediate at lexis too (or one higher??) and it was a bit awkward, I had to move levels and it was still an awkward fit after self-studying, since I already knew the content but wasn't good at speaking,, I get what you mean, I have been struggling w the difference between intermediate to advanced, the only thing that's helped me at this point is reading novels but it's still so tough...
@@yyaksok5039 I’m reading novels too. I’ve tried several. Most are professional translations into Korean but currently I am reading a DeepL translation of Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians. It’s not bad at all. It’s easier to understand than real Korean novels and I’m increasing my vocab. Obviously I’ll have to make the jump to real Korean novels later. If I lived in Korea and could just walk into the older kids section of a bookstore to browse that would be perfect.
Hello dear! I wanna ask u abt “free time” I know after the lessons we will have some activities, but Will there be an opportunity to buy something during a walk or go somewhere?will it be in the format of an excursion or a simple walk around the city?will we study in groups and walk around Seoul in the same groups?will I be able to arrange a walk together with someone, and will my family be able to let me go?Maybe it's a lot of questions, but I'm very nervous about the trip..
Hi 🙋🏻♀️😊 This school intrigues me a lot. I'm studying Korean on my own but I realize it's really difficult. Luckily I learned the Korean alphabet and for the moment I only know a few words... I would like to study there in Korea but I'm very held back because I don't speak English fluently 😢
hey there! i’m planning to go on lexis’ TAP (teen 13-17) program this summer and i’ve been looking for other who are also going. Let me know if you are so we can connect!
Hi lovely! I have a question (haven’t finished the entire video so sorry in advance if you say it:( ) are the teachers native Koreans? Do they teach fully in korean or sometimes speak English? Thnx! Subscribed for more content like this🫶🏻
hi!! the teachers are all native koreans and they speak fully in Korean. i think the teachers at lower levels may speak some english so they may be able to help if you don't know a specific word but other than that the classes are completely immersion. you are only allowed to speak Korean with your classmates as well:) thanks for subscribing!!
You won’t learn a whole lot in four weeks. I think it’s more for the experience of going to Korea. It could be super motivating though so you may want to study after going back to your country.
hi !! are you automatically with other students when choosing to be at a homestay or is there a possibility to end up alone ? i wanna try it but i'm scared to end up by myself in a homestay lol
hi! honesty i’m not sure about that, you would have to contact the school. i would guess that you can probably request to be with other students though. sorry!!
The other students I talked to at the school who did home stays were alone. They were middle aged women though. Maybe the school works to group younger students together so they’ll feel more comfortable.
I have a question, what is the failure policy there? Like you mentioned there are intake stuff, so let's say someone does level 2 and they don't pass the set exams, is there is like a re-do or are there chances put in place before a big warning. I'm just curious cause some Language Schools connected to university have set exams and if you fail after a certain amount of chances you can no longer continue the program, is it the same there, do you know the specifics cause the website doesn't mention it?
i’m pretty sure you just re-do the level. i kind of doubt they would kick you out because it’s a private program and not connected to a university! i can’t remember how many times you can re-do it, but it’s not very difficult to pass a level if you study a little bit after class everyday (i think 1 hour max is enough). you should definitely email them though and i think they’ll let you know their policy, they generally email back pretty quickly. :)
hey dear! thank you for sharing your experience 💕 i was concerned about one thing is it compulsory to do further education except korean language or it is fine to apply to the other universities for our major after completing language program???
this program has nothing to do with university, and it’s not connected to any university. actually, even for korean language programs at universities, it’s not required to do anything besides korean classes. a lot of the time the classes take up most of the day everyday anyway, so you wouldn’t even have time to fit in other classes if you wanted to.. so anyways, yes it’s fine to apply to any university after completing the program! are you trying to attend a university in korea and take your uni courses in korean?
ah got it thank you for clearing my doubt ♡. yes actually i want to apply for fashion designing course but im not familiar with korean language and in my city there aren't any language institute that will teach korean language so i was thinking to apply for korean language first. i found lexis korea pretty interesting
Thank you for this lovely video🥰 what would you say, what's the age range in the school? Plan to go next year and since I am in my twenties I'm a little afraid that I'll be one of the oldest there
thanks for watching! you definitely won’t be the oldest don’t worry! in my class i would say half were 20/30 and half were older highschoolers. there are a lot of professionals who take their classes!
