Believe it or not my main Dealer in Aberdeen is not a “stealership”

I reckon they are one of the worst. On average over 600 more than Edinburgh or Glasgow for a major unless you go through the process of haggling them down...

For anyone reading or watching this, use locking extensions when installing your spark plugs. Spark plug sockets tend to stay with the spark plug when you go to install them and remove the tool. Cheers

Try Surefire® coil packs mate. They're reinforced and are guaranteed not to crack. Plus you get a much stronger spark with them. They've been cracking on mine and they're not really expensive.

Good day. Can you confirm that your jack system uses the pinch welds under the car for support? It does not look long enough to reach the fwd and aft jacking points.

Great vid. Question: is it worth getting POR v2.0 over v1.0 ? Really enjoy your content. Thanks.

Same miles as mine! Where'd you get the reset tool mate?? I couldn't get my bloody oil filter container off so need to go an indy and have them put the new one in. I heard you don't have to change the air filter in the next minor service after a major service? I'm getting a performance panel filter so doesn't matter anyways. More for maintenance convenience than for hope of any bhp haha!

Ah that's why. You need a proper tool to get the oil filter housing off!

997 has much more sensible place to put its Engine air filter than the later models. From 991s air filter is right before the bumper which is ridiculous un bolting roughly bloody 18 bolts to remove the bumper.

How on earth did you get the other coil pack out?… any chance you could share Jon?… cheers …. Not gonna attempt mine until I see what it involves tbh. 👍🏻

Great DIY video. I bet the rear most coils and plug were a huge PITA! But then so is dropping the mufflers I hear. Seized/snapped bolts and such. Have you considered taking a peek at your cylinders thru the spark plug holes for bore scoring? You don’t get the full picture that way because the scoring usually starts from underneath, I’m told. I seriously considering dropping my sump plate and trying to get in the cylinders from that way to check for scoring at my next oil change in a few months.

Stupid video, other videos you have are ok.
First off, if you can afford a 997 you should be able to pay for a service and have the important full stamped service history.
Service it yourself and make the car harder to sell, I wouldn’t buy a 997 John in his shed had serviced.

I completely disagree with your statement. That’s stamp is overpriced don’t know how you men in England do things to have a car road worthy what ever a stamp is if I understood correctly a stamp is basically a seal of approval, but a guy like me who’s looking to get a Porsche 911 one day on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean in America 🇺🇸 a do it yourself option is a great way to go at least for me I don’t like rip off dealers who charge an arm and a leg to do basic maintenance when is easy to do in the first place. Even if I could afford a Porsche I would not take it to an independent or a Porsche dealer to do basic maintenance. Out of all seriousness I could barely touch 997.1 and 99.2 911 Porsches so doing basic maintenance for me is a win win because I could more than afford a 911 I do all if , not most of my maintenance in my cars but in my case I document everything that has replaced from the date and mileage to the part numbers basically I do the same thing the dealer those I am just not paying an arm and a leg, saving me in cost up 90% in some cases 1000s of dollars.
