100% agree. And this might be one of those rare occasions where steelies wouldn't look so good. Besides, we all know what dually steelies look like and they're really not that great.
Agree, leave it and use it to tow around the lowered stuff to some events - come meet the people!!! What a great find! I have a Corolla I'm getting ready to sell to fund my next project. Not sure what it will be yet, but hopefully something as awesome as this rig!
Leave it stock please!! Best vehicle I ever owned was A 1975 C30 crew cab dually camper special, 454 with turbo 400. It carried a 12 and half foot camper most of the 200 thousand plus miles it had on it. Took it with camper up and down the Alcan 3 times in the 80s and 90s. I am now 80 years old and that truck brings back great memories. Thanks Puddin
No offense but your truck was yours and this truck is his, it doesn't need to be what you would do, but you can still respect it and reminisce the same! In fact, if left stock, then you will only see it in the background here and there as opposed to it he builds it, then you'll get a lot of content to take you back to those good ol days! I don't know about you but I'd love to see him dive back into a lot more fabrication again! He enjoys it and that shows! I think between him and slick they could really transform the bed into one hell of a trick setup to really showcase not only their talent, but their passion as well! Leave the outside as it is (fix the rust spots if he wants and maybe paint the hood, roof and bed rails....) but cutting the middle of the inside of the bed out and doing some huge tubs to tuck semi wheels as well as leaving the rear axle, frame and an intricate suspension exposed (like a custom cantilever bag setup) along with a really nice sheet metal design in the front of the bed housing the air ride system with crazy hard lines and custom brackets and mounts would be amazing! OR slam it static and put in a high performance/big (ger) cube motor and make it haul as..... !
@@Hobodeluxe960I agree The red needs to absolutely go! After the last square body interior he did, this one needs to eclipse that! (He knows that though, there's no question that he really wants to proceed to see where he takes it!);
If it was mine Puddin , I'd leave it just like it is except fix a few lil things I noticed as you were working on it. Like replacing the swaybar bushings with polyurethane bushings, connect that cruise control rod back up to the that actuator where it goes and see if the cruise control would work. And after that, I'd ride that Cowboy Cadillac.
I’m team as is for this truck! Love the others slammed, but this has a big girl look to her, and having that clearance adds to the look imo. What a great find!
If , when you replace any component of the power steering/hydroboost system on any vehicle, you will elevate the front wheels where you can easily turn them without starting the engine, top off the reservoir , steer it back and forth a couple of times before you start it, that will cause the large piston in the power steering box or power steering rack to push the air out and fill everything with oil. When you start it without doing that it aerates the fluid and those bubbles make the pump cavitate causing the whine sound and since its full of air bubbles it over flows the reservoir because the air displaces fluid. just make sure the the reservoir stays full while you purge it as described with engine off. Power steering fluid should be used in power steering systems, transmission fluid breaks down the seals and permeates the hoses. When I was first starting out as a mechanic I put transmission fluid in the power steering systems and had a lot of leaks, an older mechanic told me about the problems that occur if you don't use PS fluid, just passing it on, good luck and great video.
Leave that dually the way it is, that's a very sharp looking truck, very clean for a 91 model. Now if you want to really shine them aluminum wheels get you some bull snot, it's for shining chrome and the truckers use it on their trucks to shine the chrome. Great video as always,
I got my truck last August. 1989 F250, long bed extended cab, not crew. 460 and C6, also red on red. Dragged the thing home and got it running. It needed a fuel pump and rear brakes. Interior just about as minty as this rig. Threw one of them Apple CarPlay head units in. The thing cost me $250. No, I didn’t miss any zeros or commas. Guy had let it sit since 2011 and just wanted it out of his driveway.
@@chrischieff5784 I really needed it too. I was sleeping in my 1989 Mustang just a few months before getting that truck. An old friend reached out and gave me a couch to sleep on. As a fellow squarebody crew cab owner I can agree that truck is good as is, you're not gonna save any money by doing too much work to it if you intend to occasionally drive it every now and then for hauling stuff. I use mine for long distance hauling across the states and have diesel swapped it in stead of the 454 it had originally, tripled my MPGs. Those seats are amazing and they'll be great for the long drives.
Hey Puddin! Anytime you want your money back just let me know. That's a killer truck and you got a killer deal. A little better camshaft would really wake her up too. Keep up the great work!

Keep it stock. It’s got the right look for a stock height small wheel. If you keep it you’ll still have the Loadstar build that you have the semi wheels for. You can have best of both worlds. A stock classic tow rig and a slammed diesel swap custom international. Kinda like the Datsun vs YeeHawl
You got a great price on a really good truck!! Those starter issues can throw people off sometimes. Puddin figured it out with his superior troubleshooting skills!!!!!!!!

Good job of editing when doing multiple bolts, wires, wheels, etc! One suggestion: please put a dab of thread lube on bolts/nuts to make easier to assemble (and remove next time). yeah 5 grand for that is a great deal. especially after finding out the trans was okay, and the fuel tanks and sending units/pumps. he got really lucky and or blessed (depends on how you wanna look at it)
I suggest keeping it stock. Possibly Add a fifth wheel and upgrade to a bigger longer trailer. Perfect for some of the builds you have currently or upcoming builds. God Bless y’all!
Drive it as is. Also, get yourself another screw jack or two for under you lift. Makes doing exhaust/transmission work way easier than trying to man-handle and use zip ties/bailing wire to hold things up 😉
Hey bro I've been watching since the beginning you should get another 2 stroke chain saw instead of waiting so long for the batteries to charge just make sure you premix the gas properly to avoid the carb gumming up like the last one and make sure you get some chain oil so the chain doesn't dull keep going hard brotha
"MICRO BUBBLES" remember that next time you try and bleed a power steering system. And when you bleed it jack/ lift front wheels OFF the ground and then go full clock with the wheel a bunch. It takes several miles of driving for all the air to work it self out. That's a cool rig, I'd leave it stock....maybe fix the rust and give it a proper OG paint job.
I really hope you keep this truck around, leaving it the way it is. That is a gorgeous truck, great find!!! That's kinda how I got my 88 Sierra, fella thought it had rod knock, nope loose flywheel. Got it for 1500 bucks with no rust and 120,000 miles.

Harbor Freight blue sponge pad and Mothers #12 cutting compound, with a spray bottle of water, takes the thick oxidation right off and makes it look like you clear coated that patina after you wipe it off. Just make sure you use the spray bottle fairly liberally. Keeps the friction heat at bay.

Yeah!!! We're doin up an 82' square body crew cab dually too. The starter had to be shimmed first thing to get her home. Motor and trans was swapped in two days, all without a lift. We're almost done, catch up Puddin! 🤠
I think I'd put the big rig wheels on her and let her set as is, change the exhaust not sure how but for sure make her sound more guder, and do some interior updating change what need be. I think you'll have yourself a damn fine truck for years and years to come.
I just picked up a 2000 Chevy k2500 with the 454/4L80E have to change the steering box and front end linkages. This video definitely made it feel more doable. Great buy puddin
With these early 90s fuel injected cars you need to pop the ECU open and verify there's no corroded capacitors inside. Fords are notorious for this but I'm not sure about chevy. has to do with the Quaternary Ammonium Salt/compound issue of the early 90s capacitors, they all leak everywhere and spew caustic electrolyte on everything and whoops, no more ECU. eats right through the conformal coating, even.
You’ve got me all inspired to get mine all spruced up. I’ve got an 87 just like that in tan. It needs some serious tlc, but it does have good, solid bones. Zero rust. It’s next summers project. Got an OSB I’m working on right now. That and an express box van I’m building into a camper. One (or two..) thing at a time.
I forgot my daily square (an 86 c20 burb) needs some minor tlc. Due for a tune up, some fluid changes, and I got some aftermarket hella headlights for it that need to go in, so I can actually see at night. Just do a little bit every day and you’ll be way further along than you imagined pretty quick.
ATTENTION. Uhaul best mini truck ever build was the 89-92 Toyota. Very fast (V6) , already very low stance factory, and lasted 300k miles with low maintenance. The box is cooler looking too. I'm a mechanic for them for 30 years there easy to work on too. Great content here from a big fan😊

Turning good quality merchandise into projects is why I come back every week
I use stabilizer in any vehicle that will sit longer than a few weeks, it works for me, I've been storing bikes and vehicles since 1985..
Leave it stock. It dose have a great stance on it and a great patina to it. Me and my wife and kids loves your channel we watch them all the time. Me and my 12yr old son has a project they we are starting on this summer. Keep up the good work and God Bless.
It's Puddin' time!!
I saw that Primus sticker too!
That's the only sticker I would have left alone. Primus sucks! 😄👍
Primus sucks!
I just picked up a 2000 Chevy k2500 with the 454/4L80E have to change the steering box and front end linkages. This video definitely made it feel more doable. Great buy puddin
Those are powerful & got drinking problem
@@briantruck2284 going to find out. Traded my obs power stroke for it needed an automatic for the wife and still needed to haul a camper.
That right there is a country limo! Nice find. Seems to run decent too.
Leave it as is, beautiful truck. Nice find Puddin'.
I owe a 1999 GMC12 foot truck ... dually! I can walk around in the box,(I'm 6'2") with my boots on! Best dually I have ever owned.350 Vor-Tec...runs strong @ 91k miles on it!!!!
That's still new
yup, leave it be! Great tow rig, fifth wheel or trailer for your shows..
First jh and now puddin 😅😅 I can't have the coolest squarebody on UA-cam anymore after this
Love that thing. I would just keep on swapping and fixing the old worn out stuff as they break. Wouldn’t slam it or anything.
Nice find. Leave it stock, work out some kinks and make it a reliable tow rig. Could still have some vacuum leaks for the stumble.
I'm Team "Leave it as is" ! Something you might want to check is the plate underneath the throttle body. I had a '92 extended cab chevy that carbon'd up on me a few times over the years. i learned from an old timer to run STP (or what ever your favorite fuel additive is,) every other fill up and try to keep the plate as clean as possible!
Had my red 86 Silverado stolen from my yard Monday morning they ran me over and dragged me 40 yds trying my best to save something I have saved pennies for years to put together piece by piece it hurts my heart someone would come thru a locked gate and steal something that I have put my heart and soul in to all the blood sweat and tears are dreams now but the good lord has a special place in hell for the ones that does this type sh*t to a honest person trying to build there dream
Hey mark..sorry to hear that..maybe the cops can find it.. hopefully..
@@Hotdaddy536 not the greatest cops where I'm from I been watching pudding for years and loved his long bed to shit bed build mine was originally a short bed but I learned a lot from the build I wish I could post a pic of it I'm sure puddings feed goes out world wide I sure would like to have her back
Your neighbour's are in on it
Dang! I hope the cops find it for you!
Love this truck...wanna sell her?
Been watching for awhile. Have admired alot of your projects. This one has me jealous though. I'm in Michigan finding a solid old Chevy is harder then finding a pot of gold
AS IS!!! LEAVE 'ER STOCK!! Great Video Buddy!!
I like how Puddin goes through different vehicle types like moods lol mini trucks, cars to trucks or wagons lol
If you take a torch and go around those hard plastic, faded door panels an lightly hit em you can make them look like new again if you didn’t already know it will do amazing puddin
Hope you are having a nice day puddin
454 is exter enally balanced. the flex plate is 454 specific not the same as other Chevy v8s
Yep, 168 tooth; no balance weights.
Been looking forward to this all day👌
Boy o boy you stepped into a pile of lucky haha
