I have about a dozen older G. Loomis rods that I bought more than 30 years ago when I still worked in the retail fishing industry and I've never had a problem with any of them. At the time, I was heavy into bass tournament fishing and I only used 2 brands of rods - G. Loomis & Shimano. I'm still using the same Shimano reels to this day. If I hadn't been working in the business at the time, there's no way I could've afforded the G. Loomis rods, to be honest. You definitely get a lot more for your money these days when it comes to low to medium price range rods. I'll take cork over foam every time as far as grips go. Look at the auto industry - whenever they want to cut down on vibrations they use foam or rubber! The bite travels better through cork, in my opinion.
Good video. I love to hear your opinion. I own several Loomis rods and Shimano rods as well. I don’t not own an SLX rod or reel as of yet. My go to rods are my St. croix Mojo Bass rods. There price point is in between the Shimano rod and Loomis rod you spoke about. Those are the and the line of rods that I use day in and day out accept for my Megabass orachi whipsnake that I jerk bait with. Keep up the good informative videos.
Yes I think everyone in this country should take someone fishing I agree with you 100%! This country needs healing. Everything has become too political. Let's take what time we have away from work and take our family and friends fishing more often!
I have the older E6X version and they are not worth $200. My Shimano zodias is way more sensitive. Love the lifetime warranty and customer service tho.
With no standard requirements to label a rod for example medium heavy fast... no one will ever be able to pick up two rods from different lines from the same company.. let alone different companies with the same ratings and have the exact action I've had medium heavy rods feel more like an extra heavy from some companies and I've had medium heavy rods feel like pool noodles compared to other companies medium moderate's
@@B_Deucefishing It's unfortunate, but Shimano can charge less for the Zodias and Expride because they're not made in the USA like G Loomis rods. That's the one thing about G Loomis that I love. They have a better warranty and your supporting American workers. With that said the Expride is definitely the gem of the $280 price point. Same for the Zodias at the $200 price point.
@@thesonorandesertangler I'm also big on American made products and companies. Especially since we are small business owners ourselves. I've been talking to ALX since we both reside in SC. Unfortunately some of the best fishing gear sometimes ain't made locally 😞
I have a GCX Lite I really like but it’s not wrapped as well as I’d expect for $250. My St.Croix Avid looks much better for $200. The blank itself is nice and I do enjoy using it but it’s not the best finished by any means.
Loomis low end rods… are extremely overpriced. I build custom rods. They can’t hold a candle to my rods. The only one comparable is an nrx+.. I’d still go with my rod. Carbon handles and carbon fiber reel seats.
Unfortunatly lower priced US made rods are not that great, especially G Loomis. You guys for $300 can build rod that is better even than GLX line. When are on sale NFC blanks are impossible to beat. Plus they are US made by Gary Loomis.
I have a couple older Shimano rods and I love them. They are over 30 years old and they are still working great with no issues. Thanks for the review.
sometimes companies just care more !

Awesome! Love the feedback. It’s what make a this sport more interesting !
I agree cork is more sensitive if you catch small fish. I only catch giants.😂

Nice to get an unbiased review from someone who isn't sponsored by one of the companies who's gear they're suggesting.
That’s what I’m screaming bro thank you
I personally prefer my megabass rods also have a couple Shimano rods I really like too. I just ordered this exact same slx rod. I hope I like it.
Thank you ! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Maybe I’ll pick up a mega bass rod to compare
@@B_Deucefishing I have 2 megabass T.S. Destroyers. They are awesome. I would definitely check them out.
Just picked one up today gonna give it a try tomorrow. Total upgrade from my ugly stick 😂

Appreciate that! I will try to thanks again
Great! Appreciate you sharing my friend!
Can't tell you how appreciate you watching. Thank you!
Almost every rod i broke were shimano....some so short now but cant part with them. But i love the gcx
From what I’ve been told idk for sure but I know they buy a bunch of blanks from them.

Well spoken my friend! And thanks for watching
Hello....enjoy watching your videos and might I ask....can you fish the slx in saltwater? Thank you.
I don’t think so but if you can’t they probably make a saltwater version
Lifetime warranty says it all
There is a reason Shimano bought G. Loomis. To get G. Loomis' rod technology.
I’ll look into that. I thought they just partnered on some blanks.
Why compete when you can just buy em.
@@dangkhang9479 I don't get it ?
Good content bud!
Appreciate that !
Great video thanks
Thanks for that!

Shimano on a different level

Thanks for watching , it’s not scientific just my opinion.
I thought shimano made the blanks for g loomis.
I don’t know but the Slx is more sensitive. which I’d save the best for myself too !
You got to pay $300+ with GLoomis to get a good reel seat 💯 The Zodias and Expride are far greater than a GCX!
@@thesonorandesertangler Expirde is definitely on the bucket list !
