I can see the need to have this on hand for the future as we grow older. My husband has a trick knee and this could also be a help when his knee acts up. My mother in law is recuperating from being paralyzed after getting two boosters close together (she developed transverse myelitis), she is just beginning to feel her legs again after a year and hopes to some day be able to stand and walk again. She keeps falling trying to get into her chair, and this would save the cost of the fire department coming to pick her up off of the floor each time.

Without chair arms could most people actually stand from the chair.
