- Barbra ended her show with "People" but it couldn't be televised because they reached the time limit of the special. Here's a RARE audio recording of that performance:

The show was aired on March 9, 1975 and it was one of the rare Streisand live moments in the 1970s. It is interesting to note that the event was on benefit of the Special Olympics, but it also worked as promotion for the sequel to Funny Lady. She was awesome that night, performing songs from both Funny Girl and Funny Lady as well as The Way We Were -all Ray Stark productions. James Caan joined her for "It's Only a Paper Moon/I Like Him". Muhammad Ali makes an appearance at the end of the special to present a special medal for Barbra. The audio/video quality of this video is a bit better than most versions available on UA-cam. I have loved her for over 50 years. She is incredibly gifted, but it was her hard work and hunger for a better life that propelled her to her rightful place in entertainment history. Her memoir is fantastic. There will never be another Barbra Joan Streisand.
No botox, no fillers, no plastic surgery and just absolutely STUNNING. Don't get me started on her voice! I just found out that she's never had voice lessons. A voice as smooth as the softest silk.
Only one woman held a note that nobody else could achieve .. very impressive . Well done lady of a style that was unique - a gift from God .
My mother-my only caregiver -who tortured me until her death a few years ago couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket-I’m a fairly good singer-she did one thing good,
she had wonderful taste in music, listened to Barbra Streisand from the day I was born.
I can sing her songs from memory and she put out a lot of albums
I bought into her diva complex created by the media
Just got done listening to her 40-hour audiobook (I drive 3 hours a day to teach yoga, so, I have a lot of wonderful audiobooks). My idea of her has done a complete 180.
The way she speaks here is the way she does on the audiobook, so gently that I listen to it as I’m going to sleep; she has a photographic memory,
is completely detail-oriented,
it’s a Masterclass in directing, singing, producing, writing, building and decorating homes, dealing with actors some of who were not easy, some hateful,
dating many extraordinary men, being very politically involved and friends with many politicians,
all with grace, class, kindness, vulnerability, and introspection and ALL AT ONCE (she is admittedly restless).
What would make her near to perfect is if she is ethical vegan and made this connection (she writes endlessly about her love of meat and dairy) between her love of her dog and other animals. She’s an environmentalist
and the only way all the pollution and destruction of the earth will end is if everyone becomes vegan and the hunting, fishing,
animal agriculture ends.
She’s a devoted mother and friend, too. She doesn’t compete with other women, she admires beautiful, talented
women because she knows her own worth.
There is no one like her.
When she’s gone, well, hopefully I’ll be gone before her.

SILK - her voice is like silk, strong, soft and flexible enough for her to mold it around every note as clear as a bell and as soothing as glass. Beautiful, just beautiful!!
I was never lucky enough to be able to afford tickets to see her….and when I finally could, she’d stopped. When she was touring last in 2006 near me, we tried to get tickets but they were $600 each (and up) and sold out almost overnight. I had to be satisfied with buying her albums & CDs, watching as many of her performances on TV (including her last tour) as possible and owning & watching endlessly ALL of her movie - which I adore and watch over & over.
She is, was and will ALWAYS be my favorite singer of all time!! It makes me happy seeing anything she does.
I love Celine & Adele too because they both have a little bit of Barbara to them but NO ONE can ever take Barbara’s place in my heart……her music is the soundtrack of my life. The songs that mean the most to me are her songs!!!
I wish her good health and blessings. I hope she is living her best life and I hope she feels how much we miss her and how much she is appreciated & loved!!

Her voice was in the sweet spot of it's maturity; its peak. Her delivery so effortless and relaxed. Her tanned skin and bleached locks....gorgeous!!! I too wish she had gifted us with many more live performances throughout these golden years of her career. Thanks for posting.

Barbra is now 81 and James passed away last year. That’s why I absolutely love UA-cam. If we relied on traditional broadcasters we couldn’t revel in their artistic genius on occasions like this, we’d be stuck with the depression of rap and comic book movies. In this performance Barbra is actually even better than she is in the movies she’s singing from.

She’s a very soulful singer. I loved reading her autobiography, her approach to her work was enlightening. She’s a true artist.
Audience comprised mostly of people from the greatest generation and some early boomers and their manners are on full display unlike what we would see today.

On the night that this aired (LIVE) on 3/9/75, we had a major snow storm here in the Midwest. Just as Barbra walked out and began humming the intro here, we lost all the power. Of course there were no VCRs or DVDs, and they never re-aired the special ... so it was not until over 30 yrs. later, that many of us ever got to see this (thanks to UA-cam). It has been removed many times, but apparently Camp Barbra eventually gave up and decides to let the world enjoy it.
I do not remember seeing her with long blond hair before. She is stunning; and the voice….gosh to be able to naturally and effortlessly produce that sound, amazing!

She was at one of her best moments ever at every level, looks gorgeous with the califormia girl look the tan the color of the hair her voice at the best point, what make so secure and confident to sing effortles, the audio was veeeryy good the equalization, the orchestra was fantastic, for me the best she had ever had in most of her concerts. Everything converted to make this one of if not the best of her specials, too much 👏👏👏👏!!! And it is soo lovely to see how people admire her love her and respect her since then that as soonvas she aapears they get on their feet 🤗🤗

That was her peak. Fantastik. It's funny : audiences in those days, they always were so old and stuffy. When you see old tv shows and they show the audience, they were always old. Or in old movies, when there is a party scene, the people are always sooooo old, like in their sixties.

For anyone fortunate enough to have been acquainted with her original Broadway recording of Funny Girl, what a treat! When she sang "I'm the Greatest Star" she demonstrated her incredible 3-octive range. There was no looking back!
