I really like Owane's playing and compositions. I don't know why they didn't ask Henrik to play on every track this album. If you haven't heard some of Owane's earlier stuff, you should check it out. I particularly enjoy Summer Jam (his guitar work on this one is awesome) and Love Juice, but just about everything he does is killer. Owane also plays some killer bass.

Owane is awesome! So unique. They most likely didn't have the budget to get Henrik on all songs :p and as you say, Owane knows how to put on some thick bass too

String orchestra teacher here. Although I'm primarily a violinist and violist, orchestral bassists and cellists can use their thumbs much as Henrik does, when playing in higher positions.

You probably don't need the whole video to get an idea of thumb position on cello/bass, but I have no way of knowing if Henrik is doing the same thing. Like...cello/bass make use of harmonics, is Henrik doing that, or using the thumb like a capo and fully pressing the string to the fingerboard.
I am so inspired by the joy and musicianship in DL's videos. It's fun to see your joy, too! The serious music-lovers all seem to get how beautiful and rare this kind of collaboration is! ❤ my middle school students really are enjoying these tunes, too. (I haven't played "Work Shit Out" for them, lol.)

@@barbaracale1015 😂 ya you might need to keep WSO in your pocket, hahaha. My guess is he’s actually pressing down as opposed to sounding a harmonic because at that moment he’s ringing out this beautiful arpeggio. If his thumb was on the 12th fret I’d really be suspicious that it was a harmonic though. That video you referenced was fascinating. I now do recall seeing that but it just didn’t register. Thank you for sending that to me! Also do you have any of recordings of yourself playing that I could enjoy? 😃

This video is pretty janky, I recorded it as online orchestra content last fall. I was showing how even someone with no tech skills could still record a duet with themselves. In other words, me goofing in my classroom with a violin, an ipad, and a smartphone. Please be kind. 🤣
