Brilliant job, the best one of these I've seen, many thanks for posting this video. I love the overhang around the inner edge of the false ceiling surround, most of the DIY builds I've seen don't do this, but it seems important to me as a way of hiding the LED strip as well as increasing the effect of the starfield being way up in the distance beyond the ceiling. Can I ask, where is the LED strip mounted - is it on the horizontal or vertical? Thanks again, this video's been extremely useful as I'm going to begin my own attempt at this next month.
Thanks so much for your positive feedback and message. It was a pleasure to read and I greatly appreciate it.
The LED strip is mounted on the horizontal part and points light straight up, so only ceiling edges would appear to be washed out and not the whole star ceiling.
I hope it helps and good luck with your project!
Do not hesitate to get in touch if you will have further questions along the way.
@@DIY_it_ALL Thanks so much for your reply, very helpful: I'd been trying to visualise where the best placement for the LED strip was - and yours works perfectly, so I'll go with a horizontal mount. I've seen several of these starfield DIYs where there's no lowered outer surround, rather the whole starfield is contained in a "dropped box" which, to my eyes, 100% misses the point of what makes these look so good. Thanks again, yours is the video that's fully inspired me (i.e. yours is the build I'm going to copy!) Cheers, keep yourself safe and healthy, all the best.

Hi, I really like what you have done here and I am looking to do something similar to a room in my home. Is there anyway you can make a separate video breaking down everything you did in and what you used in detail to pull this off. I would really appreciate it. I'm sure I'm not the only one wanting to see this.
No matter how much it costs, I'll install this on my room.

Liked - mostly because of your audio taste. M-Audio BX8's are amazing, I owned a set for 5 years. You know your stuff haha
Glad to hear from a like-minded person.
What do you own now instead of BX8's?

Beautiful
amazing stunning effect
Wow incredible top job
Great video & amazing finished look. Would you mind sharing the SketchUp plan that you showed in the video? It'd help massively with a project that I'm about to start. Thanks in advance! Cheers.
Just love your passion and interest to do your own ceiling light.
Would it be possible to show how the frames were put and the drawings.
How did you screw the main centre plasterboard to the timber.
Also you started painting after you installed the fibre optic. How did it not block the hole with paint.Just thinking.
Hi. It´s great!! can you answer any questions?
Is there any problem for paint the ceiling before install the optic fibre?
When it´s finished... must the optic fibre raised on the ceiling or standing out?
Thnaks
Wow awesome hand work

Superb job 👍👍👍
Superb job ♥
Felicidades amigo bonito diceño
Nice 👌❤️from srilanka 🇱🇰
Looks fab, only difference I would have done is put leds for the down lighters. Saves energy and looks so much nice. I’m a daylight led lover haha. Dimmer-able of course
Thanks!
The only reason I didn't put dimmable LED's is because of their buzzing noise when dimmed.
Very cool 👍
Amazing 💥☝️😄
Great video showing the various steps. We have a similar project so hope to pinch the various ideas on here. Did most lighting stuff come from Amazon/Ebay? Is the room still light enough to be used as a non cinema room (ie to read a book) when not using star ceiling/LED. Im trying to create a multi use room with large screen tv and cinema sound with lighting but also want to have library space, pool table and a pull down bed! How do you get to the LED light source for repair/issues? Ive seen some who have panel on magnets and then a ceiling panel breakout. Great job and thanks for posting.
Hi Andrew, thanks for your comment. Yes, all lights were purchased online. And yes it is bright enough in the room with no LED's because I've installed 10x dimmable spotlights around the perimeter of the ceiling - they produce a very good amount of light.
I have also left an access hatch in the least visible place above the "bottom lip" of the suspended ceiling to be able to get to the star light box and LED driver & controller in case of maintenance.
Hope it helps and best of luck with your project!
This is awesome!! Do you mind sharing the distance or full drop of the floating ceiling and the spacing for the lights
Nice work. Now come do it again in my living room.l
