Hello Greetings I have a question about why I can't use the application: I have the application, but it only lets me modify the parameters in preview mode, I connect my Shure micro and the phone does recognize it and records well with the micro, but I'm sorry I can't use the application parameters and use it with all its possibilities I have iPhone 11 MV88 I connect the cable to the iphone with a usb/lighting adapter, but I don't know if that's why or because I should use the original shure cable I am afraid to buy it and since it is relatively expensive and still not be able to use the application Thank you.
I had a little question. Suppose I have a really loud sound, for example a passing train or a loud engine. So do I need to raise or lower the Mic Gain to cope up with the volume of incoming audio?
Hey, if I use this mic while just using the standard video recording app on the iPhone, will I’ll it be using this mic? Or do I have to record with the video app in order for it to be active?
Thank you for the video! If I record a long file and want to got back and delete bits in the middle of my long recording, then join the remaining bits together, how do I do this in post? I see you can trim certain bits and split…

Hey Im Using the Motiv video app an the shure MV-88 mic to record my drums, any advice to the settings to get the best of the app and mic? also, any idea how to erase the last recording that appears on screen when its open the app??? tanx an cheers from Mexico.
Great video! What settings would you recommend for me playing my electric guitar? Both at lower volumes in my bedroom and louder volumes in a rehearsal studio? In the bedroom the microphone will be about 6 feet away. In the rehearsal studio about 20. Just sent you a Facebook message
I actually learned a lot! Thanks for make it simple to understand. I’m actually thinking on buying the mv88+ or the mv7. For musician and singer purposes which will you recommend ? 😮🙏🏼 thanks in advance
Hola! Gracias por haber echado un vistazo ;) The MV7 is more of an “in the studio” mic. MV88+ is more useful (to me), since it sounds great in more situations? I used it on voice as well as acoustic guitar and was happy with the results; it lets you get stereo as well as mono recordings; it’s more mobile. It’s worth remembering that the MV88+ is a very good condenser mic, so it does pick up every detail. If all I wanted was a great mic to leave in one place, to record podcasts, voiceovers, streaming, or maybe the occasional instrument, MV7 might be better? I have read that it’s based on the SM7, which is famous for being an all purpose studio mic… Hope that helps!
There’s limited settings in the app, how can I add effects to a recorded track and video recorded all at once playing acoustic and singing? I need to edit and have a video with it together but I’m not sure how
Hi! That’s outside the scope of what the apps are for. They’re really just to set up the mic, and make it easy to get basic audio/video recordings. Any more serious work you want to do will require other apps. I use FiLMic Pro for filming, Cubasis for music audio processing, and LumaFusion for video editing. Hope that helps!
Hi! So when you plug the mic into your phone you can do one of the following: - use the MOTIV app to record/edit the audio; - use the MOTIV Video app to record video that has the audio from the mic. The advantage here is that this app also allows you to adjust the mic, but you can’t edit with it. - use the normal iPhone camera. The phone automatically detects the microphone and will use that audio in the video. The MOTIV audio app is for adjusting the mic settings, and recording/editing audio only. The MOTIV video app is just convenient to be able to adjust the mic and shoot video in one app. It’s important to remember that the mic will stay the way it was last set up even if it is unplugged. I typically use the audio app to set it up how I want it, and then shoot video using an app called FiLMiC Pro. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
Great video Sam. What do you mean when you say the app doesn't support the three cameras on an iPhone 11 pro? I'm an actor recording a lot of self tapes at home and find the colour and exposure all over the place. Is it possible to use the mic with apples recording setting? Thanks :)
Hey Natalie!! Thanks for watching. The MOTIV Video app doesn’t let you choose which of the iPhone’s 3 cameras you want to use, that’s all. And yes, the MV88 will automatically be the audio source if you use the iPhone’s native camera app. For more control over exposure, frame rate, resolution etc. I would highly recommend the FiLMic Pro app. And don’t forget you can use the iPhone’s Photos app to add filters, color grade etc the videos you shoot. Hope that helps. Feels free to ask away if you need to know more :)
This is detailed indeed! I'm about to purchase the Shure MVL Lavelier Mic. The product description says that it can work with the Shure Motiv App. Have you used the MVL mic with this app? If yes, is it helpful?

Thanks for this video! So I bought this mic, and am using it with an iphone 12 mini, and I get more white noise in the background than I thought - have tried several settings. Any tips on getting rid of this low grade hiss?
Maybe because of your compressor settings? Compressors work like this: they have a db threshold level and everything above will be decreased in volume. And then the WHOLE signal will be increased, including your noise-signal. Make sure to have a decent signal(level)-to-noise(level) distance by having the source as loud as possible without clipping!
@@p4tmaster I'm still so disappointed in this mic for the amount of white noise it has, regardless of the settings. I was hoping it'd save me time, as I usually record the audio for my videos separately. If you're used to having a clean signal, this mic will disappoint. I spoke to Shure and they admitted there will we be hiss if used in a quiet setting, stating that the mic was designed more for concerts. I am returning it.
Thanks for this. I have a Moto g8 power which has usb C, do you think this would be compatible with the MV88+? Looking for something that will allow me to capture the live audio of distorted electric guitars without clipping while I film with my phone.
Thanks for watching. Man, I’m not sure-I’ve never owned an Android device. Theoretically I can’t see why not-it should work over USB-C, and if the app works on your phone you should be all set? Sorry I don’t know more!
Thanks for watching! Sorry for the late reply. Last time I used it with my 2020 iPad Air (USB-C) it worked as an audio input device/audio interface, but the app functions weren’t available. So you’d have to set up the mic using an iPhone, but then it’ll work fine when plugged into the iPad. However, all you can adjust is the gain. Hope that helps!
I just wish I could change recording options in iPhone 12’s camera app to allow recording in 4K 60 HDR. The motiv video app is so limited when it cones to the iPhone 12 Pro’s abilities.
Agreed. The only real use case is a situation where you are shooting video but may want to change EQ/Limiter pickup pattern very quickly between takes. I don’t know what that situation is, and real world I don’t see myself using that app to shoot video. Thanks for watching!

¡Que onda hijo! Thanks for watching. Honestly, first I’d say definitely turn on the limiter. After that, compression as much as you like (you should run a couple of tests to see what it does). I’d say set your sample rate to 24bit/48khz-it’s industry standard and will give you flexibility afterwards. I would probably use the widest stereo polar pattern, at least as a starting point.
