      Well, he is a writer (as a journalist) - I bet he could put a very compelling pencil review together!
      Perhaps opine on how a pencil makes writing such a rich experience compared to typing, and then make a pilgrimage to stand next to the memorial to Conrad Gessner, who first documented the existence of pencils...... I should stop.

    As a biker I've had enough stones hit my helmet to know not to drive that thing without a helmet... A small stone in the eye at anything over 40mph will likely cost you your sight.

      @@HyperVanilo if they are made of Polycarbonate or similar plastic material they will this is the same material they make safety glasses out of. If they are glass then probably not although almost no one uses glass for lenses anymore.

      The lenses would pop out and fly into his eye from even a small pebble. Also, since the glasses don't wrap around to the side of his eyes, it would also leave them vulnerable to damage that way.
      I wear better glasses on my bicycle. I don't go 100mph on my bicycle.

    I'm not even into cars, I can appreciate their design and complexity of course, but watching these reviews, listening to every perfectly constructed sentence and seeing that joy with which mister Catchpole presents each car, while masterfully driving it, is just making these videos quite the pleasant experience.     I did ten laps in a supercharged atom at Palmer race school.
    I believe I managed one lap without spinning at least once. Most bonkers car I’ve ever been in, loved it.

      @@topspeederalmond It's two things mostly: power and lift-off oversteer. Engine and drivetrain power delivery is so immediate in response to throttle changes that you can easily break rear wheel traction by giving it too much throttle or lifting off the throttle very abruptly.

      @@mohammedsalimahmed5230 Not really worth it - if you're driving, three miles is nowhere near enough. As a passenger, it'll give you a flavour but it's nowhere near as much of an experience as driving it yourself. Something like this would be better:

    Smiling the smile of a very happy man. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride guys, I continue to be amazed by the great job you do. Today it felt just like being in the car too (minus the bugs in the teeth), and I would be amazed if Arial don’t get swamped with test-drive requests on the back of it. I know of at least one great road I’d like to run one of these across! Slainte!

    I'd love to see how these changes (Wider tires, Altered suspension geometry, Reduced squat & dive, New tires, "Carbon Fiber Wheels", Turbo Charging/Drastically increased torque, Lower Center of gravity etc) add up on the Track compared to a Atom 3.5 (or Atom 3.5R w/manual transmission)

      why "carbon fiber wheels"? It's technology that exists.
      You can see in the shot of the wheel, as Henry mentions it in the video, that they're carbon. You can see the weave.

      @@vyrnmn I was just mentioning the changes as a whole although yes I highlighted the Carbon Wheels in particular because I know the significance they make via unsprung weight in normal sports car! They must REALLY make a difference in a car that weighs so little to begin with... All those changes as a whole should make quite a pronounced improvement over the Atom 3.5 (perhaps even the Manual version of the 3.5R)

    Brilliant video. It's the first one out there of the new Atom. After all the excellent magazine reviews I was looking to hear and see it in action.
    I placed an order way back in July on day of launch. Very excited but have to wait till next year to be united with my own Atom.
    I will order on with front and rear wings - got to have the complete look for such a beast.

      They made the s2000 that never worked, nothing since, and nothing prior in my lifetime. There was the NSX, but it was really slow and also didn't run.

    As someone who has rode motorcycles for a couple decades, I recommend some better eye protection next time. It just takes one piece of something to blind you mid corner and then you’re off the road. Great review :)

    Saw one fueling up in North Phoenix, AZ. Everyone in the restaurant next door all stood up, cameras out, faces pressed to the window. I was the only person to identify the "Ariel Atom!"

    Wow. I was literally about to type "that sounds JUST like my civic type R" and in seconds he says that the engine is from a civic type R. Well that explains it.

    I would personally take a super over a turbo, and keep the front and rear spoiler, but I like the new look of the intake and seats.

    I've been in love with the Atom and desperately wanting one, ever since the first one appeared. I think I want it now more than ever. The one thing I would complain about is the blowoff valve dumping to atmosphere. I'd much prefer a recirculating diverter valve. I just associate that "whoosh" sound with unnecessarily lost boost and then turbo lag.

    You can only trace the atom 3.5 back to the 3, there was a big change between 2 and 3 with the chassis
