The T-28 in War Thunder is a strange beast. It has the stature of a heavy tank but the armour of a light tank. On top of this, the tiny cannon can only penetrate a maximum of 37mm making it pretty tricky to use.
Somehow... the 76mm cannon on the T-28 just works. If you penetrate an enemy, they're going straight back to the hanger.
Survivability in the T-28 is unusual. What you lack in armour you make up in dead space and crew! With 6 crew and a lot of room inside, sometimes it can take multiple rounds to take you out!

@@Gracefulwarrior2124 I have the Foch and I can tell you that it isn't great. It suffers in the same way that a lot of other higher tier TDs do, like the Jagdtiger or T95. All that armor doesn't matter when you'll be facing tanks that use shells that can go through 300mm+. It's a cool vehicle though, it was amazing when France was first added and there wasn't as much heat, apds, missiles and darts being thrown around.

Tbf tho in downtiers it kicks butt, at least from what I've seen by youtubers lol
Fun piece of trivia about the Russian shells: they had a slightly squared-off nose design which resulted in their flat penetration performance being less than other shell designs, but when they hit it an angle, it bites into the armor better. It’s not Russian bias in this case, it’s actually physics!
The T-28 designers were like "ok, how many people can we kill at once if this thing blows up"
what's funny is that this shell with the short gun has better angle pen than a lot of APFSDS (compared to it's flat pen).
I'm convinced, X-ray should be toggle-able. Nice knowing what is going on inside like the crew would know.

This version of the T-28 uses the KT-28 howitzer found on the T-26-4 and T-35. Sadly, it is much worse than the later L-10 tank gun found on the rank II models, which is a seriously powerful cannon. I dare you to play the T-26-4 with only shrapnel.
You got mad skills! That tank! lol. I'll stay in my plane, but I love to watch the tank guys operate.
The mobility of this beast is surprising to be sure, however the Jpz 4-5 is even faster than it. Try it out!
Most nations have broken tanks stock but realistic performance when spaded, whereas Soviet vehicles are realistic stock and stalinium on paper spaded.

OddBawZ is too worried at low tier. He sees an enemy round the corner and thinks it's gonna kill him beforr he can get guns on, but the guy is blind like 70% of the time lol.
God I remember grinding through this think, hated it because I'm not that good, only saving grace is the amount of crew makes it survivable

The circular shaped ammo rack is so exposed in this vehicle. Just like T series lol. Can't wait for that new Indian T-90S coming next patch btw.

Russian Landships have both bias and a fear factor one cannot comprehend. The moment you see the howitzer staring at you, you live the scariest few seconds of your life. Triple goes for the T-35 that can kill you from behind without a second thought.
It has so many people inside, and it has a weird look/crew layout. It's like a puzzle game the first time you fight one

I've noticed a lot of people seem to just keep shooting the machine gun turrets so they don't really do any damage except kill the one crew member in them.

2:30 one of the issues with low tier tanks is how the ammo is modelled. Since they usually carry an absurd amount of ammo, Gaijin models the ammo in 'blocks' instead of individual rounds.

I looked it up, and that T-28 has the same horsepower per ton as a modern Bradley IFV, so no surprise it can move.
When I started playing WT, way back when the soviet and german ground forces were the only ones available. The T-28 was my first love, and I still to this day take it out occasionally.

One of my favourite low tier tanks, silly fast for its size but with an excellent reload and front on survivability makes for great fun.
You should really play the swedish / finnish 3.7 "identity crisis" lineup (Pz. IV, T-34, Sherman) Togetherwith all the other bonkers stuff sweden gets at that BR its a really great lineup!
I was surprised by the T28. Like Odd, I was surprised at how effective the gun is, and even though it has terrible armor the high crew count made it really survivable.
Almost all Soviet tanks that I have played have overpowered firepower, made worse by the fact that the ammunition explodes inside the tank once it penetrates. The armors are indeed terrible though.
Years ago when I was still playing WOT I used to lob 57mm HE shells at other tanks from across the valley on Provence. They'd hit on top, pen and destroyer them. So much fun. Same principle with this tank, a honking great HE shell (3" howitzer) or at least one with plenty of HE, it'll make your day.

Try the T-28 Swedish one, 1.7 with 67mm pen
This thing can be a pretty decent pain in the ass to fight at it's BR, at least in my experience
From the front, the mg turrets absorb rounds. The middle of the side is usually a guaranteed ammo rack (I've never seen someone not bring full ammo with them)

I loved this tank when I first started playing! It's very forgiving to play because it's so tanky, and the gun somehow just works. Plus, you can get a lot of plane kills with the 3 machine guns.
T28 and the Stuart are excellent anti-air platforms at low tier. Probably better than most SPAA because they aren't open top too

My O or U (can't remember)key got stuck once and I had the X-ray thing too. Was pretty cool
you should check out the M47/105 the italian version, since it's such an under appreciated version, as fast as an leopard but has T-54 protection and an italian 105, pretty decent

Here's a video idea, you play a premium vehicle (of your choice) fully stock and depending on how much rp you get after every battle you can add modules until fully spaded.
Really bummed that they lowered the elevation on Eastern Europe. Really liked to flank and shoot down into B. Seems like they keep removing flanking positions from the game.
I absolutely adore the T-28s! They're genuinely my favorite tanks in the game with how incredibly forgiving they are.
The x-ray is toggle-able though. I do it all the time
Some time ago that shrapnel munition for early 76mm rustardian guns actually worked and was viable. Nowdays Its just a knock knock is someone home type of ammo.

I love your voice, Scottish as can be! And it really is the little things in video games like this where you look up and see two fuckers exploding eachother in a plane-crash-bullet-fire-ball hellstorm that you wouldn't see if you had just moved along that make the experience great. Worldbuilding/cutscenes is great in story games, but its better when you see real people have these moments.
What’s ur pc setup and specs? I just just started trying to get into computer parts rn and I love war Thunder but my pc is a potato and it’s hard to run without freezing, and you get like 150+ fps on movie settings lol

about the speed you are talking about, you have almost 20hp/t, to get close with this ratio you need t-80B, sou yeah you are speed

Best shell IMO at this BR is the shrapnel shell, IF it pens its one hit kill almost every time, I'm amazed you didn't use it.
