After slogging up to 5.3, I gave up on the Brits when I had 4 shattered APDS shells out of the 77mm on the Comet in one match. Literally the proverbial last straw.

the french are the most schizo balanced tree I have ever seen, a couple of disgustingly good vehicles at low BR for their effectiveness surrounded by hordes of crap that is way over tiered. weirdest one by far when I played was the 4.3 AMX-13 with the FL-11 (98mm of pen IIRC). it was barely any better than an M24

Dude what are you talking about? Both the M18 and Jumbo are excellent vehicles and even the 76 Shermans are good if you know what you're doing. Oh and let's not forget both Jackson variants.
The fact that they can describe this tank as under-performing is crazy. I explicitly remember a match from *months* ago like it was yesterday because our entire team was getting stomped by a single KV-1E and it wasn't until late-game that I managed to get a lucky shot on it.
I bet the F-4S underperforms too. Seems like about one every single match crashes on takeoff. Gotta bring the average down. Fact is though with a helmet mounted display, pulse doppler radar, and 4 to 6 sparrows, you shouldn’t have any trouble trading positive even against mig23s and F-16s.
they most likely refer to average player performance in the tank, but i honestly cant see how people perform bad in such a tank, even if the player using it sucks
It's just an objective fact, how can it be "Crazy"? Players who play it win > 50% of the time = underperforming. Just because someone with 20,000 hours or whatever like oddbawz can do super well in it doesn't mean the average player does.

That battle between you and brumbar and several enemies with barely any backup, is most intense and yet humorous thing. That whole thing look like scene from anime tank series ‘girls und panzer’. Those moments you play in kv-1 and get moments like that make war thunder enjoyable and fun playing tanks.
What i find interesting is that the B1 Bis (and especially TER) used to be in this exact situation. Big fat armor, but with a pretty weak gun. So, it was severely under tiered just like the KV1E. However, the B1 was up tiered by almost an entire BR, making it far less OP, and especially in uptiers when it struggle A LOT. Meanwhile, in Russia Land, the KV1E still sits at a very, very confortable BR. That does not seems fair to me tbh
but the B1's guns basically couldnt do shit. the KV-1's gun isnt really weak. Didnt see it struggle with anything that other tanks dont already struggle with. Yes its a Weak gun compared to some others but its usable. Similar to the US 75mm. It is no where near being a struggle bus like the 75mm is above 4.7.

I had a 2:1 kill ratio with this back when I didn't have a 2:1 ratio in ANYTHING. I probably would have quit WT if not for the KV1E. It was a great vehicle to go back and learn in when I had gotten all the way to 8.3 and was really struggling with everything and my play was awful.
I just go back and play my M22 at 9.0+ whenever that happens. It’s so much more fun when you’re not worrying about the consequences of dying and losing 10K per tank while only needing to get one kill to be successful. 20K, even after the nerfs, at a max price tag of 404 SL is a lot more rewarding to pull off. Especially since you have to be SO smart about it as you’re fighting vastly better opponents at the highest tiers of play.
Can you imagine playing a match with a four stack all using the KV-1E? You'd be unstoppable as long as you didn't stay close enough to allow for a CAS multi-kill.
All kinds of things can kill KV1Es, you should always have big strong bonk TDs in your lineup for just such an occasion. If a similarly skilled 4 squad on the other side all had marders, they could wipe them just as easily right back. Or any of the big HE things like the trumpet boi. These are all 1 tap lolpens. And yes slow and only a rifle caliber coax makes it very weak to cas

@@TheJimyyy Most people that i’ve seen that have the vehicle in their service record have a 2kd ratio minimum and i’ve seen people with a 5kd ratio plus easily in the KV-1E. The armor on the KV-1E is 100mms everywhere, easy af to angle not to mention it’s spaced which helps it. After some thought 4.3 would definitely be a better br for it than 4.0 and 4.7.
@@sesameoil0009 i have it and is not invincible . i have around 3.5 kd ratio whit it and 75% win rate . if you down tier it will do very well but in a middle br game or down tier when you face 5.0 the armor is nothing most gun you face can pen it and angling it dont prevent you from dying it have weak spot and a good player will know them . and because the gun have only 88mm of pen you need be at close range and even there it have trouble to pen a lot of stuff . this tank cant even pen a sherman from the front when the sherman can

As a Russian main i agree. Has a match on time, i literally bounced shots of 6 guys for 5 minutes after I spawn pushed them, managed to kill 2 before the match ended
It used to be higher right? Until gaijin decided all TD’s are under performing and lowered just about every TD. I guess it’s not new player friendly so they do not perform well in it. But any play that can figure out how to take advantage of its armour at such a low BR will do well in it.

I just got a 16 kill 1 death game on fire arc in this. If this thing gets downtiered and you get to a defenceable position this thing is so easy to play its funny. Edit to add: i only died because by the end of the game they were all hiding in their spawn so i rushed them for the lols

I played this tank to get the required “adamant” awards. It did take a little bit of time, but I got there relatively quickly. This thing could definitely go to 4.3-4.7. It is a bit better now that all panzer 4 variants are below it, but I still got near 10 kill matches pretty consistently.

I think a good comparison is the Black Prince: Same armour ~100mm on Turret front and sides KV-1 has better mobility (its backwards gear is nearly as good as the Black Prince's best forward gear) Gun is arguably better for its BR on the KV (it oneshots nearly everything it pens vs. Black Prince can pen nearly everything at most angles without doing big damage) I guess the KV-1 should be 2.0 BR lower.
I’m in two minds. I actually like the challenge of taking out a heavier target. It may be rewarded the same in game but the satisfaction is greater. If I wanted to play easy mode, we would all be in the same Sherman. Like fighting a glorious MAUS - could be the highlight on a battle (although the MAUS is done dirty by the high pen rounds).
but when everyone can grab a heavy tank, slap some bushes on it and destroy you, then the game stops being any fun at all. the kv1 spam is only getting worse
Fighting a tank duel against a Maus would be very fun if you were just fighting the Maus. But when you have to fight it like a f*cking dark souls boss or shadow of the colossus hunt and some asshole pops around the corner in a Puma and just shoots you in the face (instskilling you because bullsh*t) while you’re trying to get around beside it for the finishing blow, it’s just frustrating. I’d rather just bring my damn CEV and one shot the bitch to just get it over with.
@@caralho5237 don’t forget this applies to other vehicles. I mean the M4 105 was at 2.7, MENTAL!. A 5.0 hull against people with reserve tier tanks in there line up. Unfortunately it’s just the game - we either have to find the fun in it or move on to another game, lots of goodies out there. I love taking my 3.3 Achilles out when I see I’m against Russia and putting a few holes in an expensive KV1E 😆 For me the fun thing is it make you adapt - you see your against Russia, likely KV1E, you will likely need to flank a key point and take out a TD for your first vehicle but I appreciate I’m not the majority.
@@caralho5237 The KV-1E is no exception to that. The turret neck is an easy pen from the rear, and the sides have standard KV-1 armour in the area in the middle of the tracks. And if the KV-1E is facing Germany, like it does 90% of the time, their long 75mms cut through its armour like butter. It gets one shot by Pz.IVs easily.

As a german main these things are the bane of my fucking existence. Almost every death for the past week has been to one of these guys. The flat front turret spots are protected by *gajin moments* too and only register 1/2 the time.
Bro just pulled off a 1 VS 4 against 2 PZ IV, a Brummbär, and swedish SPG, and in general defended A by himself, casually brushing off square on side shots from what probably is the most deadly canon for the BR, all that and he just lost 1 crew... Yeah obviously underpredorming...
I have one of these, and I swear I always seem to get a full uptier every time I play it. But I still try to have some decency and use it to try to hold down a cap, or negate a fire lane so the team can get on with other things. When I play against it (or the KV1B) I always seem to see the bushed up KV1E/B heading at full speed towards a spawn to just sit and farm the players just trying to get a match. The only time I'm almost happy to see CAS do it's thing.

Ive noticed if you look at corpses, you can see where they got shot from 80% of the time, so if someone dies in front of me and i don't see them, just look at the tank body for gaping holes not where their supposed to be. Its saved me atleast 4 times to get bush wookie tank destroyers.
Damn the battle between 2 *UNDERPERFORMING* vehicles in the first game shows why both the Brum and 1E should go down in BR. The KV-1E especially is *UNDERPERFORMING* at the current BR as seen by the fact you actually got hit by shells that penetrated your armor a couple of times.
Playing that thing is like playing world of tanks in War thunder. I don't know if it's a server thing or something but it seems like his enemies are often just wondering around aimlessly in the open. Yet mine are always hiding in bushes across the map and out of sight. I mean they were just throwing themselves at him in some points
The worst thing is that when I get uptiered with the american against the kv-1E I can't manage to pen anywhere even with an m10 GMC with aphe shell it's impossible to kill and then gaijin says it's underperforming 💀
This tank is crazy i once fought 12 tanks killed almost all of them repaired all my damage. And before i could finish them off a plane got me. I then used a extra crew to spawn and go on to have like a 15 kill game just in the KV-1E. The best match I ever had was in the KV-1E i went on to finish the game with 20 kills and 2 deaths.

Your team mates where not existent, and the poor Brummbars team mates contributed almost nothing, either being just absolutely clueless, or just not doing anything even though you where literally stationary, pinned to a tree, breach out and shooting at you using the panzer 4, which has a fantastic cannon.
I finally figured out how to handle this thing in the Sherman or the SAV 20.12.48. Wait for them to get a bad shot on you, and while they reload shoot right under the gun. The extra armor doesn’t cover that spot and it will go right through. This is for brawling only of course, and at range you’re screwed
I literally just got done finishing the Calliope video and laughing at the "underperforming" jokes. I'm looking at my phone, the second the video ends, notification for this one pops up. I really wish I'd bought this thing during the last sale. I love the Russian 4.0 lineup, and this would round it out so perfectly. Also, it's just my favorite KV-1 in terms of looks.

The KV-1E should go up to 4.7 at least, i've suffered way too much to it in uptiers.

lol the gun on this is too bad to be at 4,7 and the armor at this rank will be paper . the gun only have 80 mm of pen and at 4.7 it will face tiger 1 and panther ... dont make sense
@@TheJimyyy Most people that i’ve seen that have the vehicle in their service record have a 2kd ratio minimum and i’ve seen people with a 5kd ratio plus easily in the KV-1E. The armor on the KV-1E is 100mms everywhere, easy af to angle not to mention it’s spaced which helps it.
After some thought 4.3 would definitely be a better br for it than 4.0 and 4.7.
@@sesameoil0009 i have it and is not invincible . i have around 3.5 kd ratio whit it and 75% win rate . if you down tier it will do very well but in a middle br game or down tier when you face 5.0 the armor is nothing most gun you face can pen it and angling it dont prevent you from dying it have weak spot and a good player will know them . and because the gun have only 88mm of pen you need be at close range and even there it have trouble to pen a lot of stuff . this tank cant even pen a sherman from the front when the sherman can

Su-122 at 2.3 is just criminal. It can face reserve vehicles, and its front armor is almost impossible to pen with anything at its tier.

Has a match on time, i literally bounced shots of 6 guys for 5 minutes after I spawn pushed them, managed to kill 2 before the match ended
The one and only joy facing it is penning them with Swedish 37mm APDS and almost being able to hear them screaming.
It used to be higher right? Until gaijin decided all TD’s are under performing and lowered just about every TD.
I guess it’s not new player friendly so they do not perform well in it. But any play that can figure out how to take advantage of its armour at such a low BR will do well in it.
@@corsairsofnarshaddaa I love sniping French heavy's with that early APDS. The B1's think "Nobody can stop me" and PING, PING, PING, back to hangar! The sloped Su-122 tends to bounce a lot though. I had that 45mm armor pen a 200 pen APCR with almost no angle. Stallinium. Only the finest.
Play it a while and you'll learn how to kill it. I ❤ derps, but most players can't cope with the reload.

the KV-1E is one of my favorite and most played tanks. It's incredibly good and so much fun.

I just got a 16 kill 1 death game on fire arc in this. If this thing gets downtiered and you get to a defenceable position this thing is so easy to play its funny. Edit to add: i only died because by the end of the game they were all hiding in their spawn so i rushed them for the lols

I played this tank to get the required “adamant” awards. It did take a little bit of time, but I got there relatively quickly. This thing could definitely go to 4.3-4.7. It is a bit better now that all panzer 4 variants are below it, but I still got near 10 kill matches pretty consistently.

I think a good comparison is the Black Prince:
Same armour ~100mm on Turret front and sides
KV-1 has better mobility (its backwards gear is nearly as good as the Black Prince's best forward gear)
Gun is arguably better for its BR on the KV (it oneshots nearly everything it pens vs. Black Prince can pen nearly everything at most angles without doing big damage)
I guess the KV-1 should be 2.0 BR lower.
I’m in two minds. I actually like the challenge of taking out a heavier target. It may be rewarded the same in game but the satisfaction is greater.
If I wanted to play easy mode, we would all be in the same Sherman.
Like fighting a glorious MAUS - could be the highlight on a battle (although the MAUS is done dirty by the high pen rounds).
but when everyone can grab a heavy tank, slap some bushes on it and destroy you, then the game stops being any fun at all.

Fighting a tank duel against a Maus would be very fun if you were just fighting the Maus. But when you have to fight it like a f*cking dark souls boss or shadow of the colossus hunt and some asshole pops around the corner in a Puma and just shoots you in the face (instskilling you because bullsh*t) while you’re trying to get around beside it for the finishing blow, it’s just frustrating.
I’d rather just bring my damn CEV and one shot the bitch to just get it over with.
@@caralho5237 don’t forget this applies to other vehicles. I mean the M4 105 was at 2.7, MENTAL!. A 5.0 hull against people with reserve tier tanks in there line up. Unfortunately it’s just the game - we either have to find the fun in it or move on to another game, lots of goodies out there. I love taking my 3.3 Achilles out when I see I’m against Russia and putting a few holes in an expensive KV1E 😆
For me the fun thing is it make you adapt - you see your against Russia, likely KV1E, you will likely need to flank a key point and take out a TD for your first vehicle but I appreciate I’m not the majority.

@@caralho5237 The KV-1E is no exception to that. The turret neck is an easy pen from the rear, and the sides have standard KV-1 armour in the area in the middle of the tracks. And if the KV-1E is facing Germany, like it does 90% of the time, their long 75mms cut through its armour like butter. It gets one shot by Pz.IVs easily.

As a german main these things are the bane of my fucking existence. Almost every death for the past week has been to one of these guys. The flat front turret spots are protected by *gajin moments* too and only register 1/2 the time.

Bro just pulled off a 1 VS 4 against 2 PZ IV, a Brummbär, and swedish SPG, and in general defended A by himself, casually brushing off square on side shots from what probably is the most deadly canon for the BR, all that and he just lost 1 crew... Yeah obviously underpredorming...

I fought a Finish (German) one of these in a KV1 zis 5 and I couldn't even pen its side armour, thats how OP this thing is.
If you have a side shot just shoot it in middle of the track. It has normal KV-1 armour there.
One can only aspire to show as much commitment as that Brummbär.

I have one of these, and I swear I always seem to get a full uptier every time I play it. But I still try to have some decency and use it to try to hold down a cap, or negate a fire lane so the team can get on with other things.
When I play against it (or the KV1B) I always seem to see the bushed up KV1E/B heading at full speed towards a spawn to just sit and farm the players just trying to get a match. The only time I'm almost happy to see CAS do it's thing.
This thing has basically the same armor as a sherman jumbo and similar gun performance but it's a whole br lower

Ive noticed if you look at corpses, you can see where they got shot from 80% of the time, so if someone dies in front of me and i don't see them, just look at the tank body for gaping holes not where their supposed to be. Its saved me atleast 4 times to get bush wookie tank destroyers.

Damn the battle between 2 *UNDERPERFORMING* vehicles in the first game shows why both the Brum and 1E should go down in BR.
The KV-1E especially is *UNDERPERFORMING* at the current BR as seen by the fact you actually got hit by shells that penetrated your armor a couple of times.
Playing that thing is like playing world of tanks in War thunder.
I don't know if it's a server thing or something but it seems like his enemies are often just wondering around aimlessly in the open. Yet mine are always hiding in bushes across the map and out of sight. I mean they were just throwing themselves at him in some points

This describes me: Seal club day after day. I'm always playing M4A1 (76) W + XP-55.
This tank is crazy i once fought 12 tanks killed almost all of them repaired all my damage. And before i could finish them off a plane got me. I then used a extra crew to spawn and go on to have like a 15 kill game just in the KV-1E. The best match I ever had was in the KV-1E i went on to finish the game with 20 kills and 2 deaths.
Watching that first game made me so frustrated. I am so glad I never play without a squad.

Also: holy hell both of you twos team mates where sooo bad. Your team mates where not existent, and the poor Brummbars team mates contributed almost nothing, either being just absolutely clueless, or just not doing anything even though you where literally stationary, pinned to a tree, breach out and shooting at you using the panzer 4, which has a fantastic cannon.

I finally figured out how to handle this thing in the Sherman or the SAV 20.12.48. Wait for them to get a bad shot on you, and while they reload shoot right under the gun. The extra armor doesn’t cover that spot and it will go right through. This is for brawling only of course, and at range you’re screwed

I really wish I'd bought this thing during the last sale. I love the Russian 4.0 lineup, and this would round it out so perfectly. Also, it's just my favorite KV-1 in terms of looks.
