I can't understand why you guys don't have at least a million subscribers. Your videography is stunning, your attitudes are unfailingly positive, Elise's music is beautiful and your ongoing banter is very charming. You couldn't get me to go up there for any amount of money but I'm so glad you do :o) Long may you run!
Haha thank you so much! It's really wonderful and encouraging to hear such kind words, and we're glad we can take you virtually to some of these places you wouldn't otherwise see. ❤️
Exactly been to most of these places. Looked for 2 years for good channel. Saw Elise in Daisy Duke running pants in Sierras said who are these two? The best video and list of places out there. For real.
Wow Patty you're really watching a lot of our favorite climbs. So glad you're enjoying them! If you like this one, check out the Austria via ferratas we did this summer as well -- they were epic!! ❤️
Haha wow that's the best compliment ever! We love Jimmy Chin!! Thank you -- we will do our best to keep improving and progressing toward Chin-level adventures! ❤️
Thanks Peter! This hike was an all-timer for us because of that incredible ridge line. Sometimes we experience things that we just know will imprint on us forever, and that ridge dropping sharply and beautifully away to both sides is something neither of us will ever forget. ❤️
Amazing videos, this channel has inspired me and my partner to challenge ourselves to similar hikes and summit challenges. We're taking notes and will be adding a lot of these adventures to our bucket list! Looking forward to the next video!
Yessss! That is fantastic to hear -- seriously, all we need for motivation is to know that we're inspiring you guys to get out and do some of these incredible adventures. And please do put the Dolomites and Alps high up on your list as you begin doing harder climbs. These places are just mind-blowing in person, and you will be SO glad you came!! ❤️
Amazing! Your channel is the best. This hike/climb is just amazing. Beautiful scenery, beautiful couple. I am so grateful that you are putting this kind of content out for everyone to see. Elise looks like she lost some weight here, she looks great. I recall on the video where you talked about hater comments that someone said she was overweight. Thanks for sharing this awesome video. It inspires me as well as many others. Oh, and thanks for doing a great representation for Americans. We are tough!
Haha yes! This is just an epic hike, and hope you have an opportunity to do it at some point. Really worth putting on the bucket list, but make sure to start early so you don't miss that last gondola down! ❤️
That's awesome to hear -- we always feel super frustrated when the camera doesn't convey how steep or epic something is, and although it's never perfect we definitely try our best to show you guys what it actually feels like up there. So happy to hear it's coming through! ❤️
20 seconds in and I'm already terrified of the vertiginous heights! Keeping your balance on those ridges looks like a superhuman feat. Thanks for sharing :) You both rock!
Thanks Heather! OMG the ridges were amazing -- the main thing we were worried about was tripping because we got distracted by the views!! Definitely the most spectacular ridge traverse we've done so far, and glad to share it with you! ❤️
Thanks Miguel! We love sharing these adventures with you guys -- it's such a nice way for us to relive them ourselves, and also just to spread the joy and love of hiking and climbing! ❤️
Happy to share this one, Dave! I remember telling you about the Dolomites but can't remember if we even told you about this crazy hike -- anyway, very glad you enjoyed! --A
Aw thanks Dan. This trip honestly just blew us away too -- the sheer number of challenging, beautiful hikes they have in the Alps and Dolomites is overwhelming and inspiring. We will definitely be spending a lot of time in this part of Europe in the future! ❤️
Hi! Been off the grid for 15+ days, backpacking the JMT, just back. Catching up, can't wait to see all you have put out there. Another fantastic episode, you and Adam are really crushing Europe. What a honeymoon! Take care, be safe... Paul
Holy.... Elise, watching you balancing on a couple of knife edges was scary AF! But I learned some great new terms: "underfooded," "zesty"... I love it! Keep em coming and thanks again as always for taking us along with you!
Seeing Elise casually mention how terrifying somewhere is while enthusiastically embracing the wonder of it all is pretty inspiring to just go ahead and get out there. Also, props for reppin' the good ole USA abroad!
Thanks very much, Stuart -- that's a good way to put it. I've definitely been learning to embrace that nervous feeling and turn it to a positive -- most of the time, at least. And we always try to rep the U. S. with some badass hiking and some giant smiles! ❤️ --E
Literally another cliffhanger…amazing that you can both accomplish this ..and video it simultaneously. WOW …beautiful. A big shout out to you two …as well as to those who set these Via Ferratas
Thanks Bob! Yes, as you can tell we have become huge converts to via ferrata style hiking on this trip. It allows for really challenging climbing and spectacular views with less risk to life than typical class 4 hikes. Of course it's still important to take great care because a fall even when clipped to the iron could be very injurious or worse, but it's wonderful to be able to explore such crazy steep terrain with a lower risk of fatality! ❤️
Guido that sounds like an incredible trip, and we are SO jealous! Wow, we would seriously love to spend 2 months doing that. Please let us know how it goes! Prost!
Thanks Todd! When we planned this honeymoon we really thought it would be fun and exciting, but whatever we imagined was nowhere close to how fantastic the actual reality was! That virtually never happens to us, because we tend to be very optimistic and expect the best, but we just had no idea how fantastic these European via ferrata could be. Health and early retirement willing, we're going to be spending a lot of time in the future exploring these European mountains! ❤️
OH MY GOODNESS!! You two!!! This is the scariest one yet!!!!!! Thankyou for sharing with us!!! I absolutely Love your content!!!! Now I have to go have a glass of wine🤣 cause my ANXIETY is off the charts!!!!❤️❤️❤️
Haha I'm not gonna lie, Cynthia. I may have had a glass or two myself when we got back from this one. The funny thing is, the things that look scariest on the video weren't actually even the scariest in real life. What scared me the most was going up that steep gravelly gully early on, and then going down that crazy ladder at the end. It was hard to tell on camera, but there was a section where you just had to sort of step off into space. Anyway, I'm glad that you had the same wine-recovery reaction I did! ❤️ --E
Thanks Paul! Yes this is a whole other kind of adventuring than the California sufferfest. Not nearly as long, but lots of intensity packed into just 5 or 6 miles with all the crazy vertical. And speaking of intensity, can't wait to catch up on your half-marathon speed work!
For sure, Carl -- the Alps is the truth! This was the only hike we had time to do in this part of the Alps, but we're already planning a trip back to do some of the other epic climbs in Austria and Switzerland. What a magical place for hikers and climbers! ❤️
So happy to bring you on this one, Diane! It was really special -- honestly we've never seen a ridge line like that in our lives, and if felt really good to share it with you all. ❤️
Thanks very much, that means a lot coming from your practiced eye! When we were there, we honestly couldn't believe what we were seeing. It was so crazy the way the ridge dropped severely away on both sides -- it felt like we were in a magical realm or something. So glad that actually translated on the screen! ❤️
You guys are so awesome as always!! This is just yet another amazing via ferrata and thanks so much for sharing!! You should really do a live stream de-brief when you get back home. I think all your subs would love the chance to ask questions and for you to share more of the details of this wonderful European journey that you're on. Keep on enjoying!!
Thanks Dan that's a great affirmation for us! We already have some great questions from you guys, so either we'll do a livestream where we answer questions live or else at least do a video where we respond to questions some probably next month! ❤️
Thanks Susan -- we felt precisely that way as we walked along that knife-edge ridge. It was beautiful and scary and kind of spiritually overwhelming all at once -- just a very special place that we will never, ever forget. ❤️
Thanks very much! This really is a fantastic hike, and we highly recommend it for your all-time hiking bucket list. It's just so unique and beautiful, and also very uncrowded because of the difficulty level. Overall, just a top-notch hiking experience. ❤️
Wow, I must say the views were wonderful, also, thank you guys for bringing us on all ur journeys! I know that I’ll never be able to do this, so I watch ur guy’s videos (I also watch them for the positive vibes you guys give off- PLUS the Amazing Music/Songs✨). Though I’m honestly concerned for ur guys safety in most, well, ALL of ur guy’s other vids. There isn’t much I can do besides Wish the Best of Luck for future hikes! (though I wouldn’t be surprised if u guys beat and finish other future mountain hikes :0) Again, Thank you for bringing us on ur guys Journeys!
Thank you so much -- it means a lot to us that you enjoy not just the adventures but also the personality and music. That definitely brought a happy smile to both of us. And don't worry, we really do take our safety seriously. Our plans for the future are basically doing every great hike and climb that exists, and no way we can do that if we're injured or worse, so we'll be safe for sure! ❤️
I keep on thanking you every time you post a video. This one was out of league including your Dolomite one. I got worried when Elice mentioned she is out of water and food but at the end when you made it to the cable car, I was super happy. Beautiful views!!
Thanks so much, Mughda. Yes I was actually bonking pretty hard on this one, because given the mileage I had not expected it to take so much time and energy. But that vertical climbing is a whole different thing, and it was a good lesson for me. And fortunately, those incredible views really helped sustain my positive energy! ❤️ --E
Cheers, David -- Austria has the scenery for sure! We're so amazed by -- and thankful for -- the incredible network of via ferratas in Europe. Hopefully these will catch on more in the states! ❤️
Thanks Petr -- we're having the absolute time of our lives, and are already starting to think about our next trip to Europe and all the climbs we want to do next!! ❤️
I was in the lake district in the north Poland and did not have the chance to watch your film. What a great treat it has been to come back home and have time to watch your adventure. Very steep and scary moments. Enjoyed every minute of your film. You are very lucky to have stumbled upon this long sunny weather this summer.
Thanks Anna -- the lake district sounds lovely! Hope you had a nice time there. Yes we were definitely fortunate in the weather. One thing that helped was that we had so many weeks in Europe, so whenever it was raining for a few days in the Alps or Dolomites we would go visit Rome or Venice, and then come back to the mountains when we got another good weather window. Of course it's hard to do that if you only have a short vacation, so having a full six weeks made a big difference. Now we just have to find a way to get six weeks off again next summer! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard It is I think more crowded in the European mountains but you certainly have showed some parts were you seemed to have been alone. I enjoyed your European travels a lot. You should try the wilder parts not mountainous but still a lot of fun in the north of Poland for instance. There are some great kayaking routes and really wild forests.
@@annaet3767 We would love that! One day soon, hopefully within the next two years, we plan to spend about half our time in Europe and then will really be able to explore in depth!
Thanks Debbie! OMG we still can't believe the views and perspective we got on that ridge. What an incredible place! And don't worry, were definitely paying close attention to staying safe on this trip because we did not want to get injured on our honeymoon!! ❤️
Thanks very much, Lothar. Yes on this one we didn't start quite as early as usual, but because it is such a challenging route we were literally the only ones on it for the whole second half of the hike (after peak 5). Very glad we could take you along! ❤️
WOW !! it reminds me of your climbs in the high sierras but way more , I couldn't help thinking of the men that installed the cable ,they had no cable . very cool views breath taking thanks.
Yes Lawrence! We felt the same way about this area -- it's epic and gorgeous like the Sierra, but because of the via ferratas you can climb really crazy stuff to get the best possible views. And you're so right about the soldiers who built these via ferratas, many of them all the way back during WWI. Not only did they not have cables when installing, but they also had no harnesses and clips when they were climbing these things. That was a badass generation!! ❤️
wow,,,,,,that looks like the scariest video ever u made,,,,,2 super fearless athletes, world travelers.. so impressed,,,,,,,how old are the Ferrata cable assists? amazing u dont get lost up there... u 2 r totally fearless,,,,,,,wonderful video...........just makes my day ... no cell phone service if u got injured? overwhelmed by the scaryness n immensity of your climbs..........stay safe,,,,,,,,,all the best
Thanks, and that's a great question! We were wondering too how old the cables are. Not sure, but we def weren't worried -- they looked and felt like they were in great shape. We brought our Garmin mini on all of these crazy hikes just in case we got a bad injury in some gnarly place -- that's the best because its satellite, so we don't have to worry about cell service if there's an emergency. ❤️
Great scenic hike, a 5 hours C/D via ferrata. Glad to see you are enjoying Austria, looking forward to see how you enjoy harder stuff, like a 5 hours scenic D/E ferrata :).
Haha yes -- that is definitely what we need!!! After this one we went back to Italy for Piazetta Piz Boe, which was beautiful and pretty hard at the start, but got a bit easier as we went along. ❤️
Thanks Monte! Very glad to hear that. We had a fantastic time doing this one -- it was our favorite ridge line ever, and as you know we've hiked some nice ridges! ❤️
Again, all I can say is, "WOOOW!!!" Your photography is THE BEST!!! I've always been partial to anything you've done in the Sierra Nevada, but I do believe that this adventure was the best I've seen. The perspective of the debt of field was awesome. You really captured the steepness and grandeur of those peaks. I am so glad you resisted the urge to trail run along those knife edge ridges, which just walking on them looked scary enough! And I loved the looks on the faces of those mountain sheep as you walked by. It was almost as if they looked at you and were saying, "What the . . . ???" So glad you shared this. Don't know how you can top this . . . but I bet you will! Stay safe!☺
Thanks so much, Tom! We also kept thinking about the high Sierra on this trip, because it's the only other place we've been in our lives that is as spectacular as the Italian-Austrian mountains. If only the Sierra had via ferratas to help us get up some of those radical faces, but it looks like we're just going to have to keep on improving our climbing skills so we can eventually trad climb them! ❤️
OMG we couldn't even believe it! So now we've learned about some other epic hikes and climbs over there, and it's looking like the next trip might have a Switzerland-Austria vibe. We need to be retired and doing this full time already!! ❤️
Hello my friend 🤗 Greetings from România 🇷🇴You must be very brave! At one point when you were walking on the sharp ridge, I was almost afraid to look. Congratulations! 💞
I like hiking but this is extreme hiking. Scary! You 2 are so brave. I enjoy your content and taking me along on hikes i would never do and am happy just watching from my couch!
That's a great term for it -- extreme hiking! Love it. And honestly, we think you could do some of these via ferrata hikes. They are strenuous because of the extreme verticality, but they're also relatively safe because you can clip into the cable and also grip it when necessary. So it's kind of a best of both worlds situation that you might really love. Just be sure to start with one that's not too crazy first so you can get comfortable and make sure you like it! ❤️
What an unbelievable adventure! I learned about the via ferrata as well. Those drop offs were pretty gnarly and I was nervous just watching. I’ve missed a few videos but so glad to see you guys going strong with some amazing adventures and representing USA so well ;)
Thanks so much! If you like the via ferrata definitely check out the Dolomites series we did right before this -- OMG those are some truly epic ferrata hikes. Meanwhile, we gotta get some ferrata going here in California! Mammoth has some but it's pretty lame -- they're not even hard and they make you go with a guide. But imagine if we could get some Euro-style ones up in some of those crazy remote high Sierra peaks! ❤️
Thank you, we're so glad to hear you're enjoying the channel! And also we're quite jealous of your screen name -- we're working super hard toward early retirement, but haven't quite gotten there yet. Hopefully if all goes well, in another 18 months or so we'll be able to just take off and adventure full time! ❤️
Thanks very much, and you are totally right -- intellectually you know that these are pretty safe climbs to do since you're clipped into the cable, but emotionally it's very hard to overcome that fear of a 1000 foot drop right below you. The best way to learn it just through very gradual exposure training -- each time trying something a little higher or with a little bit more of a severe drop. It might take months or years, but eventually even drops like these will stop being as scary once you get used to it. ❤️
Haha ya it's weird sometimes on via ferratas when you get used to being clipped in and then suddenly there's a spot where you're not. But luckily we do enough non-ferrata class 4 stuff in the US that I'm totally used to it, so don't worry I'm super careful! ❤️ --E
Thanks Eileen -- yes the views really were incredible on this one in person. Because of the way the mountain sloped sharply away on both sides of the ridge line to provide unobstructed views in all directions, we often felt almost overwhelmed by the scenery! ❤️
Thanks Michael! Yes we agreed before this trip -- no dying on the honeymoon! So we really took our time in all the dicey places to make sure we were safe. What a trip!! ❤️
Some of your best video yet and that's saying a lot. Adam...please hook in more 😲 I'm looking forward to my trip out west in September more than ever to get into some mountains. Continued safe travels!!
Thanks much, Mark! It should be perfect out here in September unless there are crazy wildfires (knock on wood that there aren't). But overall, September and October are two of our favorite months to climb. Just cooling off enough to be bearable but no snow or rain yet -- you're gonna have a great time! ❤️
Although I know that you (obviously) survived those trips (otherwise you wouldn't have been able to upload the particular video 😂), you got me chilled again with this 🥶😱 Still, I love what you do! So much enjoying your channel! ❤
Haha Andre we're really delighted you're enjoying the channel, and don't worry -- these via ferrata adventures are actually safer than a lot of the climbs we do back in the US, because clipping into the cable makes the possibility of a fatal fall much less likely. Meanwhile, we've got a lovely relaxing adventure running all through Venice coming up next before we go back to the mountains and scare you again! ❤️
my stomach is doing somersaults just watching footage.😅But thank you so much for letting me experience this incredible scenery. To amazing videos,Cheers 🍻 Adam and Elise❣❣
So glad you enjoyed it! We were genuinely amazed by the beauty of this ridge line, and the way we could often see the a full 360 all at once due to the steep drop offs in seemingly every direction. It is for sure one of those hikes that we will come back and do again at some point, because once is just not enough to take it all in! ❤️
This is SO extremely BEAUTIFUL 😍 As a fellow Hiker, I would climb up and never want to come back down HAHA!! Elise on that Sound of music ridge, I'd be in heaven too. 7 peaks is STUNNING!! I Iove this!! You both did awesome 👫👣🏔🗺☁️
Thanks very much, Autumn. Yes we felt that way about the whole trip! As much as we're grateful for our lives in LA, we really really did not want to leave the heaven of the Alps and Dolomites. It's just a magical place, and we're going to go back again as soon as we can! ❤️
Haha how cute were those sheep, Mark?!? And they just walked right over to us, so you've trained them well. We really wanted to pet them but we weren't sure about sheep etiquette so just kept our distance. ❤️
Wow that must have been incredible to live in a place with so much great climbing and trail running right at your fingertips! You were probably out on the trails every weekend, right? Glad you enjoyed the vid, and we totally agree about the view from this Klettersteig -- the way the ridge drops off and offers epic views in both directions at the same time is very special and unique. ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard I'd say that -- if you avoid the commuter trafic -- from any location in Innsbruck you can be in the (lower parts of the) mountains in about maybe 20, 30 minutes with either public transportation or car. Also the lower part of the mountain range were you did the Via Ferrata (down in the woods) is full of (all kinds of) trails for trail running or MTB, hiking, ski tour etc. So you can even get into natur every day after work, for instance. And on the weekend you can look for adventures in the larger region around Innsbruck. You can also run up or bike up to the (already quite high) middle station of the cable car which you luckily reached in time. And: although Innsbruck is located in the middle of this nature and you can reach the mountains that easily and fast you still have all the opportunities of a quite large city. If you still need it a little bit bigger than Munich (Germany) is the next option and you can reach the first mountains in about one hour of driving or such. 😊
@@lchofer Thank you Lars, that is fantastic info! Next time we come we would like to stay for much longer, and one day try biking up the mountain and then hiking from there!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Bike&Hike... I love it 😄(or, to be honest: drive/bike/hike 😉). With the bike you get further and maybe quicker to the starting point where the "real" hiking adventure begins. And then after the hike and after you have recharged your "batteries" a little bit you are prepared for the last action of a perfect outdoor day: race down with the bike 😄
Thanks much, Randy! Well we've definitely been getting into the vibe of the Euro-league -- ultra steep gorgeous climbing and then often a beautiful little cafe or refugio at the end for soup and cappuccinos. We could definitely get used to this!! ❤️
Thanks very much, Michael! It was honestly pretty touch and go whether or not we would bail out after five (that's the only bail out option). I probably would have bailed, but Adam would not be denied on this one and he definitely buoyed me through the last two hard peaks! ❤️ --E
Right?!? Austria is just astonishing. We already knew about the climbing in Switzerland, France, and Italy, but Austria was a real revelation to us. We just love it! ❤️
Fantastic video!! ... thanx for sharing ... even i was born here, i never crawled up there ... but u inspired me maybe to do it soon, before i die 😉 ... Great job ... lovely people ... 🤩😊
Thanks very much for your kind words, Betel. We really hope that you do this hike at some point. Over the years we've been fortunate to do adventures all over the world, and this route right in your hometown is one of our all-time favorites! ❤️
Haha yes Euan!! And if you're into trad climbing, the ridge also continues on to some other peaks that don't have via ferrata but looked totally climb-able as well. One day we want to go back, bring overnight fastpacking gear, and do the whole thing! ❤️
Haha ya these via ferrata definitely are an interesting hybrid, Angela. We call it hiking because it's really just class 4 with a cable in the dicey parts for added safety (in other words, safer than some of the class 4 hikes we do in the states). There are definitely a few sections that would be class 5 (meaning climbs rather than hikes) without the cable, but since you have the cable to hold onto in those sections they're really still class 4 in practice. ❤️
Doing that awesome adventure! I was there with my wife in June and we turned right and hiked where you turned left to do your adventure. Beautiful place! Hope you enjoyed some schnitzel as well!
How wonderful that you were just there -- what a place!!! And oh yes, we went crazy with the schnitzel. Adam had it virtually every night, and I generally had a few bites of his. SO good! ❤️ --E
This is so incredible. I feel that you all have evolved from "normal" extreme sufferfests which maybe I could achieve to some serious climbing with serious skill needed and not just fitness. Keep posting!
So glad you're enjoying these new adventures, Thaddee! And honestly, you could totally do these as long as you have the fitness. They are much more vertical than typical hikes in the U. S. so take more upper body strength, but the via ferrata makes them relatively safe. It's just about getting used to trusting the iron not to let you fall 2000 feet! ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it, Jason! Yes it's funny because intellectually I really trust our gear, but in a couple places like dropping over that overhang my body just sort of overrode my intellect and said "scary"! But then I just breathed and relaxed and reminded myself I was safe, and after a minute I felt fine again! ❤️ --E
You both have become such efficient, graceful, such flowing climbers. A real joy to watch you both, and learn. Thank you soooo much for the incredible footage and energy it takes to film all this. I think that ridge is my favorite video since I started watching you. So when are you moving to Europe? Thanks again!
Haha thanks so much, Mary! We've been working really hard on our form and technique in the climbing gym -- very glad to hear that it's paying off on real-world climbs! As for moving to Europe, this incredible trip made us more committed than ever to working hard, saving everything we can, and early retiring ASAP in order to adventure full time. We are just so full of joy when we're out exploring, and really want that to be what we do with the rest of our lives. When that early retirement happens (hopefully in a couple years) we're thinking at least 3-4 months a year climbing in Europe! ❤️
Haha yes Stephanie, this ridge was just incredibly vertiginous, but so beautiful that a lot of the time we were almost just too awestruck to feel scared! ❤️
Haha yes there were definitely some recovery days in there, but it's amazing how much adventuring we can do when we have 6 full weeks with no work demands -- just adventure, then chill, then more adventure. We have to figure out a way to do a honeymoon every year! ❤️
I could only dream of looking up at these beautiful mountain peaks but through your desires with this channel have allowed us to come along and gaze down from these heavenly heights in awe of Gods creations. Thanks again for sharing and be safe! Blessings! ❤️
Thanks so much, Larry! We've never been more aware of and grateful for our blessings than on this trip. As you say, the stunning beauty of creation in these places makes that easier to feel, and we've been talking a lot about how important it is that we bring that awareness back with us to our regular lives in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, hope you're doing great! ❤️
Hi Elise and Adam, Yes I loved this video. And actually I love all your videos. You have knack for keeping us in suspense as well as camera skill in capturing scenic beauty. Question: How do the Dolomites and Austrian Alps compare to your favorite U.S. hikes in terms of scenic beauty, difficulty, and fun?
This is a great question, and one we talked about a lot about on these European adventures. In terms of scenic beauty, they are right at the top alongside the most beautiful U. S. hikes (a lot of which are in the Sierra). In terms of difficulty, they are technically a bit harder because the via ferrata allows you to do more technical and vertical terrain safely, but they also tend to be shorter so they are not quite as exhausting. As for fun, there is probably nothing more fun than a good via ferrata route. You are going up incredibly daunting vertical rock faces, but confident that even if you fall you will probably only drop about 5-10 feet as long as you are clipped in properly. There's nothing more fun than a death-defying climb where you are very unlikely to actually die! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard please do not fall in VF! The amount of injury is going to be overwhelming. Two reasons for that. The route is not vertical enough in most cases to keep you from tumbling on rocks and where it is the distance between anchors is too great to prevent you gaining speed, plus there will be rings or ladders to injure you even more. Second, even with a modern dynamic lanyard, there isn't enough gradual deceleration built into the system. The cable s there for offering comfort and aid more than protection.
@@eugenpaval That's a great point, Eugen. The VF will probably prevent death, but depending where one is clipped a fall could still be very painful and injurious.
Wow wow wow! I'm several episodes behind but had to watch this one - what an adventure of epic proportions and such dreamy views! 😍 Do you guys have an idea how long it was or what kind of gain? I agree with the comment that you guys deserve a million subscribers. You've outdone yourselves yet again and I just love your videography, music, genuineness and the grace with which you balance on those knife edge ridgelines and climb the unthinkable. You make it look easy! ❤️
Thanks Teddie! Adam's Gaia wasn't working over there so we're not sure about the exact distance and gain, but pretty sure the distance wasn't too much -- maybe five miles or so for the whole thing. These via ferrata are crazy, because they're so vertical that sometimes it takes an hour or two to even go a mile! You would love this whole area -- it's just so beautiful, and full of amazing challenges that, thanks to the via ferrata, you can do with much less chance of death than would be possible on similar climbs in the Sierra or Rockies where you'd need lots of ropes and trad gear! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard I know it's so hard to quantify climbing the way you can with a hike - but 5 miles of this in a day is next level nuts! And yes, imagine if we had those via ferrata in the Sierra! What's the diciest climb you guys have done? I recently rewatched your Cloudripper video (I ❤️ it so much!) and at the time that was it, but I know you've done so much more since then. :)
@@6MTGirl Looking back on it, the diciest was almost certainly the Galena Peak to Little San Gorgonio traverse, just because the rocks were so loose and occasionally ripping right off! This was not in our beta, probably because we were the first ones to go after that giant forest fire up there. We're guessing the fact that so much of the undergrowth had burned made the rocks a lot looser, plus maybe the extreme heat also did something to the rocks themselves to make them more breakable. Also, the down climb was steep AF even though we didn't film much of it!
Yes! We had of course heard great things, but it was really something else to actually see it. Just astonishing terrain. Now, of course, we're already itching to go back! ❤️
You really must do this one. It is totally awesome. It's so good that we are going to go back and do it a second time at some point. Just make sure to start as early as possible and keep up a good pace so you can do the full thing and still make the tram back down! ❤️
So glad you enjoyed, and you definitely have to do it! Such an amazing hike. The song is one of our new ones -- our working title for it so far is "The Call of the Wild." ❤️
Unbelievable views. And bagpipes too! Your sense of balance is amazing. I'm at a point where I tip-over, climbing thru some down branches lol. How did those sheep get up there? That was out of the blue.
Haha right?!? Both the bagpipes and the sheep just came out of nowhere, like we were in some kind of Alpine Brigadoon! Fortunately we've had a lot of practice with balance on rocks hiking in the Sierra, so the ridges weren't actually that scary for us -- what was scary was coming up that ravine with the loose gravel and scree, because one you start sliding on that stuff you don't stop for quite a while! ❤️
Thanks George! We just dowloaded the Innsbrucker Klettersteig route from AllTrails, and it worked great. The one thing to be careful of is make sure you get the full route with all 7 peaks, because most people take the bailout option after peak 5. The ridge over to those last two peaks is really spectacular if you have the time and energy for it! ❤️
Great hike! It looks crazy up there! Some friends, my daughter & I did Half Dome Sunday. With a tip of the hat to Adam, my snack spot was on the edge 🤣
Well Levi that just brought a gigantic smile to my face. So happy you did that iconic hike with your daughter, and really appreciate that you thought of us while having your snack and dangling your legs! --A
Haha yeah we probably need to be a little stricter with out editing, but we just fell so in love with this place that we wanted to show you guys different angles from all the different peaks! The ridge walk really was spectacular in person. We had to keep stopping just to take in the immensity of the views, because we were afraid if we gawked and walked simultaneously we might trip! ❤️
Another AWESOME video! You two are something else! Glad ur miles away now no higher than 100ft above sea level ...Sound of music it's NOT nor Catalina Island ... !! I watch this on a 6ft screen and I get nauseous 🤢 🤢 Stay save and blessed .... Still amazed how all that cabling was installed .... !!!
Thanks very much -- yes every time we climb one of these incredible routes now we say a silent thank you to the people who pioneered and built it. These are without question one of the greatest resources in the world for people who love outdoor adventure!
Absolutely, Kevin -- we make all of our own music for the channel! Hope you're liking it. We've got two new songs we're working on now that we'll hopefully put in some videos over the next few weeks! ❤️
What a great climb , great and beautiful peaks, and wonderful video, you guys have such a great time together, so, are you ready for the next step, class 5 + and trad climbing ? It looks like you are ! So much fun , thanks so much for sharing your wonderful experiences/adventures
That's a very prescient question, Larry -- you know us well! We are indeed working hard on our climbing skills to get our trad climbing certificates and then go out with some mentors to really make sure we're ready to go it alone. We're already doing some class 5 climbing top roped, and hopefully by about this time next year we'll be trad climbing in the wild!! ❤️
Haha thanks Joseph! Ya we were the only people to do the full 7 peaks that day, so def repped for America (though admittedly we didn't bring bagpipes, so still weren't the coolest ones on mountain 🤣).
Oooh glad you saw this one -- it's definitely going to go down as one of our favorites thanks to those incredible views down both sides of the ridge. Unforgettable! ❤️
Hi Adam & Elise, I cannot remember what was the first video I got suggested by UA-cam and saw on your channel - was the self-made shower for hikes or was it how to construct a bed in your car? ;-) But the reason why I subscribed and nearly watched all your videos was to collect hiking ideas for my next visit(s) in the states. But I could never imagine that one day wou will post a video about my home town (area) Innsbruck - good choice :) I also encourage you to implement your plans to come back to Europe (and therefore to the Alps, Austria) and even stay for longer durations (like you have mentioned in another comment). You will find a lot of interesting places and hikes - not only in the Innsbruck area but also in the Alps in general or other mountain ranges in Europe! This does not mean that the US / North America does not have extremely beautiful landscapes and hiking locations... But in Europe you might find these 2 advantages: The landscape is structured way more small-scaled compared to the US in my opinion - so within some few hundred miles or few hours of driving (or less) you can have a completely different scenary, nature, (kind of) hikes and mountains. And the other one is: In Europe, especially in the (central) Alps we have a tight network of mountain refuges / huts / shelters / hostels which gives you a lot of extra safety for hikes and it allows you to plan way more extended hikes if you want to - making another LH² video possible with the title: "7 mountains in x days" ;-) Have fun, Lars
Haha it was probably the car bed, Lars! Love that you've been watching our vids for that long. Hopefully our video making has made some improvements since then!! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Sure, your video making really got to professional levels but I always liked the way how you have filmed and edited your videos and also how you use your (obviously own produced) music to emphasize the impressions a certain scenary or moment in the hike had to you. Keep it that way :)
This was incredible! I actually booked a trip to Switzerland next August because of your Daubern horn video. Plan on doing an MURREN and Daiberhorn and now I would love to do this one. Of course I will research but a couple of quick questions. Is this trail Well marked and easy to follow? And also, do you go down the exact same way you came up? Thank you so much for these great videos very inspiring.
Tony that is so fantastic! I will take a bet right now that this will be the funnest trip of your entire life -- Daubenhorn is epic, and Innsbruck is just incredible. Yes, the trail is easy to follow because it's mostly iron cables the whole way. There are a couple of places for bailout options and you hike up that field where we saw the sheep, but it's not too confusing there. We did use our GPS though just to be sure, and highly recommend that on every hike. Even with iron cables to follow most of the way, you just never know and it's good to have satellite nav backup. You do not go back along the cables. It's a path, steep in a couple of places but not too bad, that goes along well below the rocky ridge line. Once you get on it, it's fairly easy to follow back to the gondola. Can't wait to hear how much you love these hikes!! ❤️
Thank you so much for your response as as much appreciated! Plan on going to Colorado in July to do a couple via Ferratas they have out there as practice. Love hiking, but these have upped the excitement 10 times!! Literally have never heard of these things until a couple months ago and again thank you for your incredible video footage. Keep on keeping on!
I can't understand why you guys don't have at least a million subscribers. Your videography is stunning, your attitudes are unfailingly positive, Elise's music is beautiful and your ongoing banter is very charming.
You couldn't get me to go up there for any amount of money but I'm so glad you do :o)
Long may you run!
Haha thank you so much! It's really wonderful and encouraging to hear such kind words, and we're glad we can take you virtually to some of these places you wouldn't otherwise see. ❤️
My thoughts as well! (although in my younger years I would go whether I was paid to or not!)
completely underrated
Exactly been to most of these places. Looked for 2 years for good channel. Saw Elise in Daisy Duke running pants in Sierras said who are these two?
The best video and list of places out there. For real.
I don't know about others, but I actually put the channel on my do not recommend list solely because of the clickbaity thumbnail.
Another lunch video! Love your timing of posting new videos! Thank you two for the great content!
Haha that's great to hear! Love that you're having your snacks while watching us find our snack spots! ❤️
You guys make it look so easy to climb. I love watching you two.
Wow Patty you're really watching a lot of our favorite climbs. So glad you're enjoying them! If you like this one, check out the Austria via ferratas we did this summer as well -- they were epic!! ❤️
Beautiful country.
For sure, Mike! We'd never been to Austria before, but will definitely be going back now.
You guys are pretty much the only people out there doing vlog style videos on big climbs. Awesome. You guys are the Jimmy Chin of UA-cam
Haha wow that's the best compliment ever! We love Jimmy Chin!! Thank you -- we will do our best to keep improving and progressing toward Chin-level adventures! ❤️
That was… cinematic, white knuckle thrilling, and one of your all time best videos. Thanks for capturing it so well.
Most climbing videos fail to convey how scary such climbs can look but you two have got it nailed.
Thanks for sharing the spectacular views and climbing experiences! I love what you do!
Thanks Miguel! We love sharing these adventures with you guys -- it's such a nice way for us to relive them ourselves, and also just to spread the joy and love of hiking and climbing! ❤️
Wow! Incredible views in Austria!
Thank You both for sharing your experiences!
Happy to share this one, Dave! I remember telling you about the Dolomites but can't remember if we even told you about this crazy hike -- anyway, very glad you enjoyed! --A
@@LiveHardxLoveHard thanks Adam!
I don't think you told me about this one but, Wow!! You both don't disappoint!
Glad we could get that beach walk in!
I've seen almost every one of your videos and you both still blow me away.
Paul
Congrats Paul -- OMG the JMT must have been amazing!!! These European hikes are great too -- Dolomites and Alps are truly High Sierra level! ❤️
Holy.... Elise, watching you balancing on a couple of knife edges was scary AF! But I learned some great new terms: "underfooded," "zesty"... I love it! Keep em coming and thanks again as always for taking us along with you!
Haha thanks Jeff -- I might have been a bit delirious by that point, but maybe we'll keep underfooded in the vocab rotation just for fun! ❤️ --E
Amazing Killer Video, You 2 rock as always, love it.
Heading to Switzerland for 2 months hiking Hut to Huts and Peaks In 2 weeks.
Prost!
Guido that sounds like an incredible trip, and we are SO jealous! Wow, we would seriously love to spend 2 months doing that. Please let us know how it goes!
Prost!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard It would be my pleasure.
Thanks for your response 👍
Adventures of a lifetime this summer! Thank you so much for sharing them all. This rocked, and scared the crap out of me!
This video truly lifted my spirits, thank you so much you guys!
AJ that is wonderful to hear -- hope you're doing well, and very glad to bring some uplift with this crazy adventuring!!
Beautiful views! Insane to climb 7 peaks in a day.... And none of them easy! Awesome music Elise, great snack spot Adam! Keep pushing!
Thanks Paul! Yes this is a whole other kind of adventuring than the California sufferfest. Not nearly as long, but lots of intensity packed into just 5 or 6 miles with all the crazy vertical. And speaking of intensity, can't wait to catch up on your half-marathon speed work!
Best content on UA-cam! Thank you!
Wow what a nice compliment, John -- thank you! We're really enjoying making these for you guys. ❤️
This is intense stuff guys love it! thank you once again. Can't beat these views for sure!
For sure, Carl -- the Alps is the truth! This was the only hike we had time to do in this part of the Alps, but we're already planning a trip back to do some of the other epic climbs in Austria and Switzerland. What a magical place for hikers and climbers! ❤️
Thanks for taking us along❤️. Truly gorgeous!❤️
So happy to bring you on this one, Diane! It was really special -- honestly we've never seen a ridge line like that in our lives, and if felt really good to share it with you all. ❤️
This is freaking stunning, what a great upload. Masterpiece 🔥🔥
Thanks very much, that means a lot coming from your practiced eye! When we were there, we honestly couldn't believe what we were seeing. It was so crazy the way the ridge dropped severely away on both sides -- it felt like we were in a magical realm or something. So glad that actually translated on the screen! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard definitely looks simply epic.🔥
You guys are so awesome as always!! This is just yet another amazing via ferrata and thanks so much for sharing!! You should really do a live stream de-brief when you get back home. I think all your subs would love the chance to ask questions and for you to share more of the details of this wonderful European journey that you're on. Keep on enjoying!!
Thanks Dan that's a great affirmation for us! We already have some great questions from you guys, so either we'll do a livestream where we answer questions live or else at least do a video where we respond to questions some probably next month! ❤️
Stunning, literally, most beautiful trekk. Ethereal spaces.
Thanks Susan -- we felt precisely that way as we walked along that knife-edge ridge. It was beautiful and scary and kind of spiritually overwhelming all at once -- just a very special place that we will never, ever forget. ❤️
Wow! Really enjoyed watching. 👏🏾
Very glad to hear that, Ali! We've never seen anything quite like this incredible ridge line, and happy to share it with you! ❤️
Holly Molly!!!this is insanely gorgeous.. thanks for sharing!
Of course! This is definitely one of those places that MUST be shared -- OMG that ridge! We honestly still can barely believe it ourselves. ❤️
You are awesome. Fantastic hike and breathtaking scenery! Thank you!
(though I wouldn’t be surprised if u guys beat and finish other future mountain hikes :0)
Again, Thank you for bringing us on ur guys Journeys!
Great footage from the peaks, really enjoyed this video!:)
So glad you enjoyed it! We had a fantastic time making it, and are really happy we could share this incredible place with you! ❤️
Glorious stunning mountain scenery.high mountain endeavors..to the climbers that put up the verra feratt. Cheers. 👍💪
Cheers, David -- Austria has the scenery for sure! We're so amazed by -- and thankful for -- the incredible network of via ferratas in Europe. Hopefully these will catch on more in the states! ❤️
The Bomb Video!
Haha thanks!
Absolutely fantastic, congratulations my friends !!! Have a good time 🙂
Thanks Petr -- we're having the absolute time of our lives, and are already starting to think about our next trip to Europe and all the climbs we want to do next!! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Super !!!! 🙂
Absolutely stunning 🏔
Great video & Stay safe!
Thanks Debbie! OMG we still can't believe the views and perspective we got on that ridge. What an incredible place! And don't worry, were definitely paying close attention to staying safe on this trip because we did not want to get injured on our honeymoon!! ❤️
again, ahead of the crowd. thank you so much for the video, taking us to places, we never will be able to go to.
Wow you two are brave! Glad I can watch this from the comfort of my home 😅 Love the videos! Keep them coming! ❤
Thanks Sharla! Glad you're enjoying, and we will definitely keep them coming!! ❤️
wow,,,,,,that looks like the scariest video ever u made,,,,,2 super fearless athletes, world travelers.. so impressed,,,,,,,how old are the Ferrata cable assists? amazing u dont get lost up there... u 2 r totally fearless,,,,,,,wonderful video...........just makes my day ... no cell phone service if u got injured?
overwhelmed by the scaryness n immensity of your climbs..........stay safe,,,,,,,,,all the best
Another great adventure. Loved it!
Oooooh guys I’m so happy you came in Austria 💪💪💪💪💪 the views and the trails are awesome 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
💞
Haha thank you very much! Yes that ridge was really amazing -- so glad we could share the experience with you! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard thanks that's great advise!
Another great hiking adventure. I love your channel
Great video, I would love to do via ferratas like this one....but I'm much too afraid of heights. It's a mind game
Oh my Elise, I don't like it when you traverse the most extreme of those razor edged ridges without being clipped in! ❤
Haha ya it's weird sometimes on via ferratas when you get used to being clipped in and then suddenly there's a spot where you're not. But luckily we do enough non-ferrata class 4 stuff in the US that I'm totally used to it, so don't worry I'm super careful! ❤️ --E
Wow you guys are amazing thank you for sharing this awesome experience the views are spectacular
Thanks Eileen -- yes the views really were incredible on this one in person. Because of the way the mountain sloped sharply away on both sides of the ridge line to provide unobstructed views in all directions, we often felt almost overwhelmed by the scenery! ❤️
Hi, guys... Scary scary scary! You two are really amazing! I’m happy you’re coming through safely on all these climbs! 🎼🎹🏔🌲🔥
Although I know that you (obviously) survived those trips (otherwise you wouldn't have been able to upload the particular video 😂), you got me chilled again with this 🥶😱
Still, I love what you do!
What an awesome area to hike in! And you guys found my long lost sheep :)
Haha how cute were those sheep, Mark?!? And they just walked right over to us, so you've trained them well. We really wanted to pet them but we weren't sure about sheep etiquette so just kept our distance. ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard just watch out for any Abominable Snowman !!!
Great video! I used to live in Innsbruck and this Klettersteig a couple of times. The view is amazing.
Mind-blowing via ferreta.a real deal workout in the vertical. 💪👍
For sure, David! It was only about 5 miles, but the amount of vertical up and down in those miles was crazy! ❤️
Wow, you guys are in a different league than most people! Amazing views and thanks for amazing videos!
Thanks for sharing and stay safe!
Thanks much, Randy! Well we've definitely been getting into the vibe of the Euro-league -- ultra steep gorgeous climbing and then often a beautiful little cafe or refugio at the end for soup and cappuccinos. We could definitely get used to this!! ❤️
I really enjoy this one 👍 the verra ferreta rules .so do you two 😍
Thank you -- totally agree about via ferrata. It's without question one of the best ways to do an adventure!
Wow, way crazy. Congrats on completing all seven peaks.
Thanks very much, Michael! It was honestly pretty touch and go whether or not we would bail out after five (that's the only bail out option). I probably would have bailed, but Adam would not be denied on this one and he definitely buoyed me through the last two hard peaks! ❤️ --E
Absolutely incredible!!
Right?!? Austria is just astonishing. We already knew about the climbing in Switzerland, France, and Italy, but Austria was a real revelation to us. We just love it! ❤️
Knees are weak palms are sweaty, vomit on my sweater already was Last night's ragu spaghetti, I'm nervous watching you both so calm and steady!
Haha love it -- we cannot resist a fully rhymed rap comment!! 🤣❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard cheers guys!
This is Incredible!
Thanks Di Di! It truly is an amazing place, and for sure the most amazing ridge line we've ever been on in our lives!
Great choice. Speaking as a guide, that is one awesome ridge line. I almost needed a chalk bag.
Haha yes Euan!! And if you're into trad climbing, the ridge also continues on to some other peaks that don't have via ferrata but looked totally climb-able as well. One day we want to go back, bring overnight fastpacking gear, and do the whole thing! ❤️
You have a VERY different definition of a hike than I do. :-) That was a climb. Great views.
My best friend, I liked the video very much, thanks you for sharing, stay safe, stay blessed
Thank you very much. We're very happy and honored that you liked it! Blessings to you as well.
SO good! ❤️ --E
Great guys!!!!!!! Love you!
Thanks so much, Stefano! Very happy you enjoyed this one!! ❤️
I was scared just watching you. Wow amazing
I get vertigo just watching you😂 So spectacular! Congrats you two!
Haha yes Stephanie, this ridge was just incredibly vertiginous, but so beautiful that a lot of the time we were almost just too awestruck to feel scared! ❤️
So cool. Enjoyed it. You two are going to have to take a vacation to recover from your vacation/honeymoon.
Austria 🇦🇹 is definitely one of the most beautiful countries in the world
Yes! We had of course heard great things, but it was really something else to actually see it. Just astonishing terrain. Now, of course, we're already itching to go back! ❤️
So jealous! (kidding, so happy! for you guys) I just can't wait to go on these adventure's myself
You really must do this one. It is totally awesome. It's so good that we are going to go back and do it a second time at some point. Just make sure to start as early as possible and keep up a good pace so you can do the full thing and still make the tram back down! ❤️
thanks for the tips!@@LiveHardxLoveHard
Always love your sense of humor in the face of diversity and the sketchy (af) places
Thanks very much, Monty! Humor has definitely gotten us through a lot in life!! ❤️
Incredible, going to have to go back and do this next year! May I ask what song is used at 7:45 mark, thanks!
So glad you enjoyed, and you definitely have to do it! Such an amazing hike. The song is one of our new ones -- our working title for it so far is "The Call of the Wild." ❤️
You were right about the Sound of Music--looked just like it! The sheep were cute, but the bagpipes, not so much.
The bagpipes have def been divisive -- seems like people either love them or hate them. But the sheep are universally beloved!
Amazing, thanks a lot!
It's our pleasure to share this one -- very glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard you made me wanna go there and enjoy the sights😉
@@strigoiimortii We really hope you go -- you will not regret it!!

hy ,
great Video
I love it 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Do you have the description for the route or gpx file ?
Wow great job guys- that top ridge walk looks so scenic and exposed. Nearly 20 minutes too- working towards a full length movie? haha
Wow amazing hike
It really was, Dave. In all the 10 years we've been hiking together, we have never been on a ridge line like that -- utterly unforgettable! ❤️
I always thought the music sounds like her, and finally read description and found out she makes music.
My hands sweat watching you two! Good job representing America! Great job and be careful!
Haha thanks Joseph! Ya we were the only people to do the full 7 peaks that day, so def repped for America (though admittedly we didn't bring bagpipes, so still weren't the coolest ones on mountain 🤣).
Awesome 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Oooh glad you saw this one -- it's definitely going to go down as one of our favorites thanks to those incredible views down both sides of the ridge. Unforgettable! ❤️
Hi Adam & Elise,
I cannot remember what was the first video I got suggested by UA-cam and saw on your channel - was the self-made shower for hikes or was it how to construct a bed in your car? ;-)
But the reason why I subscribed and nearly watched all your videos was to collect hiking ideas for my next visit(s) in the states.
But I could never imagine that one day wou will post a video about my home town (area) Innsbruck - good choice :)
I also encourage you to implement your plans to come back to Europe (and therefore to the Alps, Austria) and even stay for longer durations (like you have mentioned in another comment).
You will find a lot of interesting places and hikes - not only in the Innsbruck area but also in the Alps in general or other mountain ranges in Europe!
This does not mean that the US / North America does not have extremely beautiful landscapes and hiking locations...
But in Europe you might find these 2 advantages:
The landscape is structured way more small-scaled compared to the US in my opinion - so within some few hundred miles or few hours of driving (or less) you can have a completely different scenary, nature, (kind of) hikes and mountains.
And the other one is: In Europe, especially in the (central) Alps we have a tight network of mountain refuges / huts / shelters / hostels which gives you a lot of extra safety for hikes and it allows you to plan way more extended hikes if you want to - making another LH² video possible with the title:
"7 mountains in x days" ;-)
Have fun, Lars
