Still love this camera to this day. Don’t need to be so snobby about camera’s, most of us are not professionals. Just give me a good camera, good build, good battery life, and go have fun with it. It has more than enough functions for most anyone out there.

The interesting thing about the G10 is that it is basically a camera that was designed to be a digital update of what some of the higher-end stills point and shoot cameras were, but that is hard for people to understand today with all the mirrorless EVF kinds of things we have. For example, there is ZERO information in the viewfinder, all you get is a couple of small lights to the right of the finder to alert you to possibly slow shutter speed or possibly focus issues, and then they have this odd-ball blue light on the left that comes on to suggest a higher ISO setting if it thinks you need it, depending on what mode you are operating in. It works nicely with Canon flashes as well. Due to the small sensor size you do not really get much impact on sharpness per se, except the more you get to F8 the worse it will get, but the lens itself if used carefully at low ISO will get some very nice results. It is a challenge to use this camera today and requires thought and effort to frame and expose properly for landscapes, but it can get very nice images if you work at it, and that is the point. You need to THINK about what you are doing. In that way it it quite a bit like a film camera and it is obvious by the design that those who did design it went way back in experience since it so much like a higher-end film camera from the 1980's or so, so the engineers and designers were not young trendy guys. You can get easier and better results today on many cameras but the G10 will hold its own IF you know how to use it and it has quite a few megapixels. Canon realized they over-did the megapixels of the G10 and lowered them on all the following Powershot G models that followed, opting for improved dynamic range. To my mind the G10 is a nice camera to have, I shot it just yesterday, the other I would like to have, but don't is the G15 which seems a tad more pocket friendly. What I like about the G series and G10 is the range of the zoom. 24-70 is not long enough I like at least a 24-105 or 120. In that vein the Fuji X10 was also quite interesting as well, but the x20 had info in the finder. Best wishes! PS To survive the pandemic, if you are older, all you need to do is emulate Bill Clinton and not inhale. I surmise that the governor of NY and his brother never inhaled quite enough during the birthing process, hence the younger stupid one visiting his mother during the pandemic to the chagrin of his elder brother, who never saw a nursing home he would not send a contagious victim back to, until he "discovered" his IQ was insufficient to the task at hand, fortunately it seems at least the more damaged mayor of NY is not governor, despite his artwork on the streets. - Signed Breathless in Upstate NY, (the place where his kingness the governor confiscated ventilators from - I think of us a Ukraine and our kingness - a rather Stalin-like guy - lighting up buildings on NYC with all kinds of commie colors and what-not, not a baby friendly guy that one. But my apologies for being off topic; consider it pandemic related out gassing. Best wishes and God's blessing to all, even king Cuomo and his bro, they are the best commies they know how to be, a tad still in the closet about it, for now. Wet finger in the air and all. My I am quite verbal today.

I found a used G10 for sale and got interested while enjoying some tea for my flu (yeah, the normal kind that comes when you drive bicycle in cold weather in too few clothes. Adulthood is capability to choose correct clothes for weather and I´m not that good on it). So I watched a few long term reviews, read from here and there and made a decision to pull the "buy it now"-trigger. Got it with 6 month warranty for 59€ and it should come on next week. Now some lasagna and more social distanced internet shopping. I might want to buy RC crawler next...

@@hachio4070 It's an enjoyable camera with a nice zoom range and even works with an external flash. It works nicely for landscapes, if you take care. I am not sure anyone ever really reaches adulthood these days, I think I may have had it too easy, but then as I have been told, growing old is not for the faint of heart. Enjoy your G10, wear a helmet on that bike, and avoid the real virus. Best wishes!

I have a g10. It's old but still working (nicely). I don't think it's still worth in this era but I really love to use it. My friends said i need to upgrade but I don't think so. I'm just having an opinion that the most important thing is how do we get the pictures, it's not what kit do we have. Maybe that's just me calm myself for the technology but yeah.. i still need a lot of refferences

Have a G10. Honestly if it's sunny enough to use 80 iso this thing is amazing. I have Fujifilm xe-2, x100f, and x-pro2 cameras and for jpegs in sunshine this camera can keep up. Any iso above 80 forget it. This camera has a ccd sensor so the colors and image rendition are just wonderful.

I have one of these. They take great pictures if you know how to use them. They are not for a beginner but a more experienced photographer. Put it in manual mode and you can`t go wrong. It is NOT a point and shoot camera.

The only replacement for a G10 is another G10. I wish I could get my hands on another one. Mine has a scratch. I like it so much that I work around this problem in different ways. These things are super hard to find right now for some reason. I love having all the controls on the top of the camera and when you have it dialed in right it takes an incredible picture for what it is. If you ever decide you want to sell that thing, p.m. me. Every time I get a chance to buy one nobody seems to have any in stock.

I got this camera new when it first came out . I had to send it back after the first few opening and closing of the auto retractable lens cover . The part that closes over the lens is so close its touching the lens . I sent it back and after a big hassle they replaced the lens at no charge . I told them to make sure this time the closing cap was not contacting the lens . The same thing happened to the replacement lens the cap was scraping very the lens and causing a scratch in the lens in the same exact place . If you look at your lens I will guarantee everyone that has a g10 will have a scratch on the highest part of the lens . They refused to replace it again .

Does the G10 have a AC Power cord in which you do not need to use a battery? I plan to use the camera for photobooth use. Or can the camera be powered by a usb cord/power adaptor.
