Thank goodness those 2 boys didn't burn the fire for too long.. Like you said, let's just hope & assume they're young and didn't consider the dangers/risks..

It looks like maybe they used the boards next to your cabin as a place to sit by the fire. This could be the reason they built the fire so close to your cabin. Since its harder to control what people do when you are not there it might be easier to build a fire pit (With sitting area) away from the cabin in a safer area. Not to say its ok to use your space to camp, but to lure them away from your cabin. Kinda like bushcrafters do in Canada and US when they have a separate site to eat away from their campsite to avoid bears coming into their campsite looking for food. Just a suggestion... You look amazing by the way... :)

Practice situational awareness, keep your security in mind, someone knows where you are and they will probably come back. Why were they there to begin with, were they possibly hoping to find you? Set perimeter alarm ( motion sensor driveway alarms )when you are there. Get you a night vision monocular. Those boys may consider your property as their new bug out location , safety is paramount. Consider a small drone to check out property before you approach. Stay safe and best wishes.
Here in the US we have the ability to post signs that say, "Tresspassers will be shot, and survivors will be shot again."

I agree with you Vanessa. It was a selfish and careless act. Because the forest is so dry some embers could have started a bush fire. You might have to put up a sign warning people to be careful and not do it. Stay safe mate.🇦🇺👍😁❤️🤪

Love your dress. Blue is definitely your color. You might consider putting some "Do not trespass" signs around your property. Maybe then people will get the hint not to light fires so close to your property? Or some "You are being recorded on film" signs, to help deter unwanted thieves or crime minded or just absent minded individuals.
You need to post the property. You might even think about putting up a fence around your cabin. Can't be too careful. Oh, you look lovely in that dress!

Happened to me, had a remote cabin in Florida, I seldom could visit. I arrived to find it occupied by with squatters !!

I second the recommendation of a trail camera. If you have cell service at your cabin, you can purchase a trail camera that will send you pictures without having to go to your cabin to view the SD card.
Well my idea would be to collect some stones or rocks and put them around the outer edge wood of your cabin so it doesn't catch fire. Maybe that would work I know rocks are heavy but it worth a try? Just a suggestion, love your videos and everything you do in the woods :) p.s would love to see a video on how a day to day week would go like how you wash yourself/clothes and hunt/eat everyday. As i'd like to do it but it seems daunting to me as I havent yet practiced bushcraft or camping anywhere so that's why I watch your videos - to learn. I hope this comment isnt confusing! If you do read this thankyou for everything that you do Vanessa you're a wonderful human being, keep going x

I agree Bear traps..under forest litter..and trail cams..just don't forget where you set traps..
good thing you had the window locks and door locks latched, perhaps you can put up a sign on the cabin that the area is under video surveillance. My guess as to why they did it so close to the cabin was to be near the water and also to sit on the wood ledge.

Hi Vanessa, unfortunately these days there are people who just don't care. Whether these were kids or adults, it seems they did that fire so close on purpose to let you know, they know who you are and are mad because you lock the cabin up. Here in Alaska most people leave their cabins unlocked in case someone needs shelter in an emergency. This is because most cabins are remote and not close to the general public. I think you should have the police track them down and charged with trespassing because, they may do it again and the next time, you may not have a cabin. All in all, you look absolutely fantastic in that blue dress. Thanks for sharing.
Keep the cameras rolling, catch the people. I love the German country side. I was stationed there in Germany for 4 years. 1988 - 1992. Got out of the Army in 1992, stayed and worked, lived in Werl, Nordrein Westfalen for 20 years, or untill 2008, then I went back to the states. I like your video's, they are great. Vanessa I love all your videos. If it were me I would attempt to talk to the people that you have evidence of. My opinion is that they were just naive since they didn't do any more and they could have. Perhaps the reason they chose to make the fire there was because they had access to water. Don't panic because they probably didn't mean any harm. But I would reach out to them and by this video and perhaps other way to talk to them anonymously and educate them about fire danger and that you have worked hard to build your cabin which you don't want to lose. As you was talking about this fire I immediately think kids! Maybe someone knows them? They must of gotten scared off to start such fire and put it out so quickly good think you have pictures of them it might be good idea to tell police or who ever in charge of the woods there to protect yourself from being blamed if there is ever damage best of luck prayers
Put a few signs up on the cabin that you can hang when you leave that says you are on camera. No trespassing!. You are looking great and sorry to hear that you are having intrusion issues!
Couple of kids having a little fantasy time. They extinguished the fire before they went. In part,they may have been trying to relate to you. How about putting a sign up saying strictly no fires,maybe emphasising the dangers in summer when it's dry. You know,I appreciate it's not ideal in your location,but bear in mind in the wild in other countries,in the winter,the cabin would be open and passers by would be welcome to use it for shelter. A box of matches would be open with one match poking out,set by the hearth,in case they were frozen. But how is it there? Perhaps there are no fires allowed even in winter.

Better use a climber to put the camera's up high in a tree so they can't be stolen, because now you have let everyone know that you only have two camera's so if someone wants to steal those two camera's then the next crime can't be detected, like breaking and entering your cabin. I would add three more camera's and make one of those a cellphone capable camera so the instant someone show's up you'll get a notification on your phone and can have them arrested, unfortunately that's the only thing that will get their attention is possible jail time.

sayI don't know what the law is in Germany, but merely being in the vicinity of the cabin might not be illegal. I live in Sweden, where we take our freedom to roam ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_to_roam ) very seriously, and in a similar situation the police in Sweden would not do anything. The fire might be illegal, for a variety of reasons, and the boys should definitely have cleaned up the fire after themselves.
As for the camera with cellular connection... I would not necessarily want one myself, for financial reasons: every time the camera sends me a MMS it costs me some money. And it is quite easy to place this kind of camera in places such that it is triggered by eg branches blowing in the wind: the resulting pictures would be sent to me, but provide me with nothing of value. If a camera could be mounted in such a way that it has an unobscured view of the cabin, and can be set to ignore small things, like wildlife (ranging from birds flying past to grazing elks) coming into view, it might be worth the money to have it send MMSs.
Further, this kind of wildlife camera has a rather wide angle of view. This is great for people who "just" want to find out what animals are around in the area, but not all that useful if you want to catch criminals: mounting the camera high would make the perpetrators very hard to identify from the camera footage/pictures. VB would have to find a compromise, with the cameras high enough to be hard(er) to spot, but still low enough to provide pictures/footage that can be used to identify any perpetrators.
I am glad nothing bad happened because of the stupidity of others - Hopefully this will be just a one time thing and not happen again - Try to have a good day.

My friend we used to live in Pine top Arizona, it's a beautiful oasis of tall pine trees, it seems like there was always a forest fire happening somewhere on the mountain. I decided to cut down all the trees with in 100 feet of the house, so there is no way a burning tree can fall and land on it. Will you consider clearing a wide distance from your cabin? And dig a root cellar or room below ground? If there is ever anything nuclear happening you would have a place for protection, perhaps dig a tunnel from the cellar to your cabin? Then you could have barrels of water and a place to store food, l hope you do something like that.
