Don’t forget that for every prisoner there is a family who loves them (parents, partner, grandparents, children, brothers, sisters, aunts & uncles). We are citizens and our families deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
My sons ELEMENTARY school in Salem doesn’t have A/C. The children in Salem deserve A/C before these grown adults who’s bad decisions got them in here do.
Many schools in Oregon also are old and don’t have AC either. If anything we need to update all schools and provide AC for our kids first not the criminals.
3:58 Thats Level 3, for the inmates getting ready to be transported to a different unit. I remember playing cards at that table and rocking back and forth in that chair watching tv. Level 1 & 2 hold the newest inmates or the most volatile inmates like those on suicidal watch. I was an orderly, and cleaned cells, floors, tables, and chairs. I really liked the QHMP, Pam. She'd have oragami classes every Wednesdays, she'd give us all a nicely scented hand sanitizer, and afterwards would offer us a hot chocolate or tea packet. I feel bad, because I always had outbursts, because of my psychosis and mental breakdowns. But Pam was always so kind to me, and so were the other QMHP's. My QMHP was Anna. She was always so sassy and made me feel better about my situations. God, Pam and Anna helped me through dark times.
How about stop the excessively punitive sentences. Close OSP but don't build another prison. Spend the money on making sure first time offenders stay first time offenders. Stop the job discrimination when someone gets training and proves themselves. Throwing people in a concrete cage just makes them more violent, more hateful
What's excessively punitive? OSP houses the most dangerous people in the state. They didn't end up there because they stole something or forgot to pay a traffic ticket. Protecting the community is an important reason behind why people need to be in prison. We've seen what's taken place the last five years where we haven't been holding people accountable for criminal behavior. Oregon and Washington are reversing course on that. If you steal something from the store, you need be arrested and taken to jail. If you deal drugs to anyone, let alone kids, you need to be in prison for a very long time. If you rob, assault or murder someone, you need to be in prison for a very long time, if not the rest of your life. Attempting to restore someone as a productive member of society isn't going to make me feel better when I get seriously injured or lose a family member at the hands of someone who should have been in prison. Look into the recent lawsuit story Marion County is facing as a result of this. That is where we are headed more frequently with your idea.
@@briand5083I am a diagnosed Schizophrenic. Before going to prison, I was diagnosed schizo-affective. I have mental breakdowns and psychosis multiple times everyday of my life. I was treated horribly by my coworkers and management, had a mental breakdown and psychosis, and set the bathroom on fire. A couple paper towels lit on fire in a trash bin, which smoldered inside of a brick bathroom. I wasn't offered a mental health court diversion program, due to my attorney who did not read the paperwork diagnosing me with Schizo-affective disorder, he's assigned by the Judge, and after being released on probation, I wasn't properly accommodated, discriminated at work for my disability, revoked my probation due to mental problems, and was sent to prison for 18 months. Still not offered the diversion program, because the entire time, I had no idea of its existence. Nobody told me, they all just scared me into believing I was fucked. I was at the mental health Infirmary at Oregon State Penitentiary two separate occasions, 6 months a piece. 23 hrs in a cell. Honestly it was better than Oregon State Penitentiary, because it was air conditioned. But I didn't feel like I deserved it, regardless of my disability. I know I fucked up, and I own up to it. I'm grateful nobody got hurt, and the small town I'm in doesn't ostracize me, because everybody knows my family, and seen me grow up. I think you're absolutely valid to not like people who go to jail or prison, because the majority of people there are extremely violent. I just feel like disabled people deserve way better mental health treatment. I only saw a Mental Health Professional once a week. I could care less about air-conditioning, if I had better access to mental health treatment.
No prisoners deserve anything better than a 12x4 room with a toilet, chair, and a bunk bed. Why do they get treated better than 99.9% homeless citizens?

You mean those junkies that hang out on the corner? Yeah. F them.
homeless is a choice and cells are 8x6.2 there hella small for 2 men. but osp was cool
@@Nickin503 Prison is also a choice, my guy...
@briand5083 not for me mofo pointed guns at me and put handcuffs on me. Guess I could have had him shoot me but prison was the better choice
About 20 years ago oregon built a new prison that still sits empty and unused. Waste more of our taxes.
There is one is Madras,OR that is empty if thats the one you mean..they built another one close by and put everyone there cuz its bigger.
Yes, they need to put AC in schools. I agree, but they also need to improve their state correctional facilities and because they’re ancient.
Many schools have AC. They need to improve BOTH. If we're just going to torture the people we imprison, we're criminals, too.

osp is the best joint inthe state been to most of them . osp needs clean water thats the biggest issue
people in jail please don't say i want PLZ thank you I'm here bc i use to drive by this prison it looks cool from the outside xD
Sounds sheety Diddy
Defund prisons
We're definitely going to need more prison space for all the MAGA insurrectionists getting arrested in a few months
Get help.
You're delusional 😂😂😂
? what your on the wrong side of history that's some dem pedo shit
🤔...how about fix homeless problems instead of remodeling the prison..waist of money.
the home less like doing dope and end up in prison they do the crime . so its one in the same issue
