The cover art is a sad dude with pie on his face.
Very accurate, indeed.
S T O P
Always has been
Probably not best pie he has ever tasted
This song means so much to me.
7 years from when I first listened to it, it has now new meanings.
But it still makes me express something that my words can't even try to describe.
Thanks.
5:35 brings me to tears (almost)
"my flesh to disintegrate into consumption for the earth"
This is the heavy Placebo song I always wanted
lol as a Placebo fan I felt obligated to comment 8 years later to inform you that Brian Molko has a mustache. That is all.
Goddammit. The ending is so nostalgic. It's like a theme to remember all the good times I've had in the past.
I think this is my favourite on the album. It's all amazing but the last two songs sent me into trance first time.
This is seriously the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
Best Deafheaven song imo
I love this song so much
Its now been 9 years so crazy
such a special band man
Album of the year
Strong finisher on this album, so many albums have trouble with that.
They ended the album perfectly with this song. Truly wonderful.
Is that a Loma priesta pro pic
@@nerdyoutube7847 great band btw
My life is divided into half: before I listened to this song and after I listened to this song.
YES!
I imagine the gracious Benevolent ritual of Death Grave and porcelain With baby blue lips and pale pink eyes Descending toward me Her glowing hands cradled at my head And knees submerging me into waves of icy seas I imagine the end Then further downward so that I can rest Cocooned by the heat of the ocean floor In the dark, my flesh to disintegrate into consumption for the earth
One of my favorite songs
THE BEST SONG LIVE.
I had a pile of tears running down my face in this one.
the lyrics are very deep
I wish I could see then live that sounds amazing. Maybe if I'm lucky seventy percent of the London population will move house in the next year or so and I'll be able to go see them!
god I saw them after Sunbather came out and being in the front row and having George pass the mic during Dream House was a fucking fantasy come true, I'd have loved to have had the same experience with Gifts For The Earth
Amazing Band!!!
Hope to see them again in France!!!!!
Incredible sound, atmospher...
Album of the year
Beginning of the song almost reminds me of something I'd hear from Hateful Abandon. What a great album closer to a great album.
unique band!
This song bangs.
Amazing
I only leave youtube comments for da lovezeees, but this song {and the album it's on [and the band that plays it ( and the people who listen to it)]} are all great and seem pretty cool... :)))))
I have crippling depression
Then this song is for you.
You can beat it
Any better?
Por favor regresen a Colombia pronto
@0:38 - "the precious banana SPLIT!"
Saddly by the reason to be a serious and responsable person with my work i missed two live shows in Stgo,
This is beautuful band
So damn beautiful
I don't want to understand the lyrics, i like not knowing anything that he says at all. Beautiful
the lyrics are very deep but its a beautiful song either way
I think the lyrics are almost as important as the music itself for a band like this, but you can like it without the lyrics.
Lyrical content is pretty important, but not always necessary to enjoy the song. Definitely necessary if you wish to fully appreciate it.
Yeah it almost spoils it for me the bits that i can understand or think i can; i adore this song but the bit where he sounds like he's talking about drying on a washing board just kills it a little bit. I hope writing this doesn't make anyone else hear it!
Plus I write to Deafheaven and I usually can only write to instrumentals. I prefer use of the voice as instrument in black metal. I used to read cradles lyrics and find them amazing now I'm glad I've forgotten them cos the sense of the song sometimes gets lost in the meaning.
love this song lol
They may not be the first to do this "blackgaze" thing but Deafheaven excel at pushing the envelope, as well as people's buttons. nom nom nom.
I agree think they are doing a fantastic job, the lyrics are well written, drums well executed, guitar innovative, backed by strong bass foundation.
Nothing is truly original. In fact, anyone who claims that their work is an original, should really start doubting their mental health, because practically everything in this world, not just art, is a reproduction or remix of something that has been released//done before. Deafheaven made the music world take notice that BM doesn’t have to be long-haired metalheads in corpse paint in order to be black metal and I am grateful for that. Fortunately now there are tons of incredible BM bands coming out that are shamelessly breaking away from the traditional ways, paving the way for this new generation of BM. It’s really quite wonderful.
I’ve never headbanged harder than to this
Blackgaze genre amazed me as always.
I'm so unsure as to what is happening to my ears right now.
Fucking great song
wow
this is the most weird band what i ever listened, i like it!
January 1979
+Michael Gomez Spot on
Michael Gomez hahahaha yaaas
There was a terrible crash
At the end of the song It reminds me a little to lift (Radiohead)
Sorry for my english
The quiet moments remind me of Everything’s Not Lost by Coldplay. Don’t kill me.
Or Svefn-g-englar by Sigur Rós.
I won't, I love that song😁
Love this album....so far I have only listened it through this UA-cam video, but I plan on buying the vinyl.
My only gripe is that some of the songs end with fade-outs...don't like it, and it's somewhat rare choice how to end songs on music like this. It gives you a feeling that the composers didn't really know how to build a ending.
Is it only in this video or is the album actually like that? It's not a deal-breaker, as I said, I love the album anyway, just curious...
Does anyone know where to find the environmental state song of Louisiana?
everyone mentions the music, just for once look at the album art.
We did
grave and porcelain, with baby blue lips and pale pink eyes descending towards me
Reminds me of old underoath
Very dangerous.
Acoustic-alt-shoegaze-blackened-post-metal.
Almost as weird as envrionmental-vegan-grind-death-treehugger-core.
brutalism I don’t hear all of that. I just hear “blackgaze”. Everyone is always so set on placing bands + music into very specific categories, and then judging the band based on this opinion...but for me, Deafheaven is a new wave of black metal. Blackgaze, okay, yeah if you wanna call it that, but I prefer nu-black metal
@@trickdaddymurphy1655 normal blackgaze would be alter of plagues, this is at the very least post blackgaze given the direction of the music
very specific catagories are very useful by the way, arguing over them is fine since that usually leads to a general understanding, and judgement can't be avoided in any case
Those opposing wooden popcicles sticks need more in their life and just don't know it.
ANY COD NERDS HERE IM USING THIS IN MY TAGE DO NOT USE IT
Different, gave it a go, not a fan.
+Jeremiah Williams Thank you so much for expressing your opinion in a nuanced way and without offensive language or going off the deep end. Unfornately a rare treat these days, online. Thank you, and have a good day.
Give it a few spins brother, I can guarantee it will grow on you. Many amazing albums are hard to comprehend at first.
This is the best black metal album ever, so whether or not your in to black metal, this album and especially this song are hard to digest.
If it’s because of the vocals then it’s really understandable. I was a fan at first either but you get used to it and then you love it
