- In 2018, Revolver went on the road with Deafheaven for our two-part documentary 'Corrupt Love Across America;' last month, we dropped in again, on a few of the West Coast tour dates on their co-headlining run with Baroness. The group's recently released stand-alone single "Black Brick" - a B-side from their excellent, adventurous fourth album, 'Ordinary Corrupt Human Love' - serves as a particularly vicious highlight of Deafheaven's set. In contrast to the heavily shoegaze-inflected atmosphere of many of the quintet's other songs, the nearly eight-minute composition is steeped in classic black-metal grimness and ferocity, both of which are only amplified live onstage. Watch the recent performance to see what we mean.
While I do love Infinite Granite and do respect them for being so damn diverse, I also long for an album full of heat like this.
Yeah it’s low key too polarizing when a band goes from super aggressive to super soft. Still love them though

They’ve grown a great deal live. Drummer is nuts.
The groove sections fucking rule. They get you in to that head nod mindset just before pummeling you with machine gun blast beats and you have no choice but to give yourself whiplash.

yeah pretty weird. Separately, I saw Deafheaven and Oathbreaker within two weeks at the same venue. Totally different crowd for each. Tour packages with different genres can create a confusing crowd experience.

It would be cool to see them go from Ordinary Corrupt to something like this. I hate it when bands just get progressively more mellow and call it "evolving." Not that Deafheaven did that but it's a common pitfall.
The way I see it Judah is a more metal album, then Sunbather got experimental, 'Bermuda took it back to a more metal sound again, then OCHL got experimental. So I'm hoping the next one can have this dark bite to it, despite being a b-side from OCHL.
Saw this live in Spokane, and it was most certainly magic. Great show.
Bermuda expanded their sound more while still trying to still be metal, but same diff. Given the wildly positive feedback this song has gotten them, I'm really hoping they take the hint and just give us a real black metal album.

Saw them in Charlotte a couple days ago and this is what they opened with. Awesome. I was right in the front with no one between us and George's intensity could be felt!

This song sounds sooo much like Conquer All by Behemoth. Similar riff. I love that Deafheaven leaned soo hard into their black metal roots with this track. That said, I fucking love how diverse their sound is. To the contrary of what most people are saying, I think having an album with variety is what gives songs like this the fucking knock out punch that it has. Keep killin it.
Always been a killer band for what appeals to me. I can see how this track will bring in some new interest from people who wrote them off a long time ago.

You should check out the band George (maybe Kerry too,I don't remember at the moment) was in before. I don't remember the name but he did gutteral lows in it that were pretty heavy.
