- Right after the snow melts I'm finding stunning crystals at Titanite Hill. Within the day's finds are the typical Canadian minerals of apatite, titanite and feldspar
I want to thank you for your videos. I've struck out at almost every location in Ontario impart because I was digging where everyone else was. I rewatched several of your videos and really paid attention to land formations such as ridges and depressions and this past weekend when I was out I followed your advice. I found a depression and hit a calcite vein and I now have many fine specimens and crystals to show for it... From me to you, thank you...
lets get a cleanup video on that jumbo apatite and titanites
I second this!
Looks like a great day for digging!!! Thanks for sharing
I had a trip with my friend to Titanite hill last fall. We had a blast and found a lot of interesting specimens in an afternoon.
Previous year we were in New Mexico filming a documentary about a treasure hunt. "Thrill of the chase". Didn't find the treasure so we were happy to dig up some gems in Tory Hill. We will be heading out in search of tremolite next. Hope to bump into you somewhere Michael.
Thank you for the informative and beautifully done videos. Always a pleasure to watch. I hope one day to visit and possibly find some crystals.
really need one of those in my collection .. the green crystals are beuut ! . also looks like u were giviner bigtime man lol , right now and fall seems to be the best time of the year for rockhounding , temp and no bugs . Been having goodluck , especially today , I uploaded a couple vids of samples .
Hi Mick ! I'm not sure how I missed this video but I'm glad I found it , beautiful Titanite as well as that pile of Green Appetite. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience , I seen Jeff and we talked for a few moments as he was in my drive through at work just the other day . It would be great to get together sometime and hit up a few rockhounding spots before winter sets in , I found a nice specimen the other day of what I think may be Black Druzzy while I was in a friends farm field . Best regards from Lloyd.
Titanite Hill is my favorite place to go hunting my favorite crystal, Green Apatite. Can't wait till it dries out a little more and I can get out this spring. Who knows, perhaps we will run into each other one of these trips. Love your videos. Thanks so much for sharing with the rest of us.
Marnie Fawcett With alot of sites being closed to collecting in the area in the last decade, Gibson road is a favorite of many collectors now, it's truly an amazing site!
Sweet pocket Michael, that's what your after and loads more like it up there!! Many years ago a collector from up there showed me some Apatite from there he had cut and made into earrings. They were very, very nice!!
Would that be the guy from starlite gems?
Caver461 No, was cut by Brad Wilson of Alpine Gems I believe.
Yes I know him - he's also a caver which is one of my other passions. I have a beautiful sphene cut by him.
Caver461 Yeah he does nice work. I had a gem quality Tremolite from Dancy occurrence I wanted cut but unfortunately was micro fractured. It's a nice honey colored transparent crystal. Still a nice specimen on it's own.
wonderful crystals super exciting my favorite crystals that you find. thanks for posting I have a subscriber that lives near you out there in Canada he goes by high energy og really cool guy he said he has met with you and collected rocks before. so cool to hear that from him keep digging never cease to amaze me
Yes, I know him. It would be good to do a trip with him this summer. We've discussed it a few times, but never got around to it.
Thanks for the video. I stick to mine dumps but I often wonder if I could find fissures in my area.
Went there yesterday. Found some great apatite and titanite at the very top of the hill. I was definitely tired when I got to the top of that hill. It was so worth the trip.
Sweet adventure beautiful finds thank u
Heading there tomorrow!
It looks like you picked a good weekend. This weekends weather is horrible. I can't wait to get back to it...hopefully before the bugs.
Yes - it sucks badly. Just opened the front door and discovered the ice pellets are nice and solid so it's easy to walk on. Gotta try the roads now as the wife has some home renovation projects for me today. Hopefully Home Depot is open.
Good luck out there. I'm working out here in Toronto, I'd stay home if I could. I'd love to appreciate these minerals flying around but I'm having a really hard time haha!
Would love for you to show me how to find crystals at bond lake. Maybe we can go if you live in the GTA
Amazing
Some nice gemmy apatites in there!
I enjoy all your videos so much! A shout out to Jeff too!
I'll pass that on. He went to a local quarry this weekend with the Walker Club - or that was the plan. Not sure if the weather made it possible though.
Hey Caver I've been rockhounding a bit myself and I'm uncertain if I need to obtain some sort of permission or permit for locations on crown land. What I'm asking is if you know in regards to crown land if you always need a permit or permission or only sometimes. Abiding by the collectors threshold limit obviously.
Not usually
Hey mick,
Just wondering is that green apatite or is it sphene (titanite)?
I believe the titanite is all black or dark there the apatite is mostly green I have found red and yellow as well tho on the hill
, do you sell any of your titanite? Would love to buy large specimen. Thanks
Please suggest where to find peridot in canada?
I've been watching for a new video. :)
How do you know about all the sites to go to? Do you use a website or something?
theres a site called mindat, but this guy's written a few books, he has alot of knowledge
I would love to dig here. I live fairly near from there.Do you need to pay to dig?
Its free to public
what an epic apatite at 4:56!
missed you guys.
Ahh - but the minerals are still there beneath the soil. It seems that the entire hill face is a goldmine and unlike Bear Lake a lot of this stuff is lying on top of the calcite cap.
There was an outcrop here with black - light grey lustrous tetragonal crystals. Does anyone know what it could be? Thanks!
Edit: My best guess is Fluor-uvite. I found that it scratches quartz, and is a common associate of tremolite. Looks similar to some pictures found online.
Good job
I found Quarts in philipines but stuck on rock but its gone
This guy could be a voice double for Liam Neeson!
Im watching you do exactly what I wish I had financial stability to do
That sounds like a great excuse. Rockhounding is free. Get out there and do it.
