The second Lollapalooza was INSANE! I saw Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, RHCP, Ministry and Lush. The venue it was at never had a show like that before (and they never did again haha). People rushed the amphitheater and got in, you had to pay more to be there.

First SY song I ever heard. 1991 on a Boston radio station. The whole time I thought I was listening to Jesus and the Mary Chain! I had for years seen SY's albums in Peaches record stores throughout the '80's but never bought any. After, '91....I have every single one!

When I was in my sophomore year, discovering noise pop, skateboarding, any angst activity you can think of: I shaved my hair into a buzz cut. My inspiration was Mark Renton from Trainspotting but when I saw this music video; I was in love. With myself. Like a burst of self love and confidence rushed in me, I was like her, a punk cool cat that does whatever she wants even if it breaks social norms. Now that it's grown back to its long length, I cry inside knowing I can't shave it again. Mom's orders.

SY was an alternative rock band, their early récords were noise rock. They began ten years before grunge movement. And they are the most underrated rock band.
I still wear fennel, 35 and not a hipster. I had this class in college where you could bring in a CD and play it for the class. My professor pointed out Steve's cymbals and that's all I listen for at that point, one of my favorite songs.
Holy crap that IS skater Harold Hunter bopping by the camera at 2:17 AND focused in the background with the dreads is Jon Carter, another NYC skater and both of them were in 'Kids' with Chloe 2 years after this music video was filmed. I read that Harold accompanied Chloe to this filming to help calm her jangled nerves because they were good pals, but I never spotted him out in this before, and spotting Jon too is just icing on the cake. I wonder if even more of her skater friends pop up in here. . This is just too cool- high fashion models, Sonic Youth, grungy skater kids, and a raver era Chloe all colliding to the tune of one of SY's best jams. Pretty sick indeed

I bought a music magazine in the 90's about Nirvana and learned about Sonic Youth. I was a teen and a twenty something back then. The music was cooler back then and I could get a pack of generic cigarettes for eight-nine cents. A woman I know said she could not believe I listened to this stuff. She said she could not believe I was ever young. I even had a skateboard. I conclude Sonic Youth was the 90's Velvet Underground. Sonic Youth even had their own blonde eye candy too. I remember this from when I was a teenager. Funny I listen to Sonic Youth still and Nirvana went by the wayside a long time ago. I am still haunted by Kurt Cobain though. I like the 90's. It was a period of discovery for me. I survived. Yeah!!!!!!

I bought a music magazine in the 90's about Nirvana and learned about Sonic Youth. I was a teen and a twenty something back then. The music was cooler back then and I could get a pack of generic cigarettes for eight-nine cents. A woman I know said she could not believe I listened to this stuff. She said she could not believe I was ever young. I even had a skateboard. I conclude Sonic Youth was the 90's Velvet Underground. Sonic Youth even had their own blonde eye candy too. I am going to listen to Nico right now. Peace.
