Ehhhh i agree with your message, but i personally have met some pretty rascist and sexist punks. The punk movement started as a resistance movement, but has been turned into more of a fashion/life style. A lot of what it represents is dissatisfaction with the way things are, a kind of political teenage angst, and there are plenty of people who can present as punk while being proper assholes. I have learnt my lesson in the past that even someone who is in a progressive group can still be an asshole, because assholes are everywhere. Still, i hope that the general movement returns and pushes back against oppressive actions.

i totally get what you mean. there's definitely a lot of people who call themselves punk/alternative just cuz they dress that way or listen to the music, but don't hold any of the ideologies that alternative communities were built on. those people aren't real punks they're posers, wolves dressed in sheep clothing. they may try to separate punk from politics, but personally i don't think you truly can. it sucks that they worm their way into our safe spaces and pretend to be punk when they are exactly what we're fighting against. that's why i think calling them out as posers and making it clear that they aren't welcome here is important

@ghostlyasteroid tbh i think that the antiestablisment feeling that punk was born in is separate from what punk has become. Its now much more just a fashion trend/lifestyle than an ideology. Sometimes, you have to let it go, and let people you disagree with have the same fashion sense as you. Gatekeeping can turn a good community sour quick. Still, that doesnt mean you have to stop being as punk as you want, please do go out and protest and riot for whats right, but just because some people like the fashion but not the politics doesnt make them posers. I do want you to know i like your videos tho :) keep up the good work, and make sure youre building a community based in bringing people together, not pushing them apart. You better get famous now so i can say "i watched them before they were cool".
