Apparently you didn't use the instructions in how to operate the mantis 2-stroke tiller. It is meant to be pulled not pushed. You would notice 100% different results had you used it properly.
Joel, I was so frustrated as Jacob Poucher was. Did you read how to use this tiller at all? When using a Mantis, you allow the tiller to "walk forward" then you pull back with tines dug into the soil. I could not believe you actually LIFTED the tiller up each time! you went in a direction I don't know what "score" you gave it, cause I couldn't watch anymore. I sure hope with the other tillers, you at least read the instructions BEFORE being a "Power Tool Advisor"! BTW not all tillers run the way the Mantis does.
I thought he should have been walking backwards. I wonder if he has used a tiller before or if he only used hand tools. I believe even in the directions it says to walk backwards. I kind of feel bad for him. He has no idea how wonderful these tillers are.
Totally inept person to test this product. Pull it backwards and it is unstoppable. next time read the operating instructions before giving your opinion.
I bought a Mantis about ten years ago and the carb and fuel system are shit, Already replaced original carb once , two months in same problems. Had a friend buy one & same problems. Also the handle kill switch is placed where you're continuously killing the damn thing during throttle & start operation . You will spend more time working on this POS than you will gardening.Should come w/warning (disposable after 1st season ) I'm an engineering tech by trade and work on all kinds of various problematic equipment also have been through small engine repair/rebuild classes so I'm not a stranger to troubleshooting small engines and adjusting carbs. My advice ,pay $50 to $100 bucks more and buy Stihl have had Stihl equipment for 20-years that still fire 1st pull !
I have used a Mantis for 15 years: I love it. This person has no clue on how o use it. You don’t till with the Mantis attempting to push forward; you walk backwards giving it a slight rocking motion forward and back. The blades will not designed to dig in going forward. Going forward is wrong.
I agree... I've had the same Mantis for 20 years,, if he would have walked backwards it would have done a better job in half the time
I'd like to see him let it warm up a sec. And though you pull those not push
He's got the blades on wrong for tilling

He misses the clue to that the tiller gives him at 1:17-1:20!
Yep I have 2 of these, and when I transport from one end of the garden I go foreward .
when I till I go backward !!!

It's not like a lawn mower, with tillers you're supposed to PULL them. That's why you were having a hard time.

THE JARVIS DOOFES IS SUPPOSED TO BE PULLED NOT PUSHED! I THINK GOING BACK TO SQUASH IS A GD IDEA
The mantis is meant to be pulled backwards, not pushed!

And what about the earthworms...? that thing will mince them. Small garden just needs lightly forking
I'm not sure he's even got it running at full speed. Sounds like the choke is on.

He has no idea what the hell he is doing.
