@nefrums I think 1 of the mines assemblers made only 1-2 mines due to belt pollution. Given all went well, perhaps 3 assemblers is enough, saving some steel? You pass by at 1:13:30, no inserter activity.
48 min and still no biter attacks, he even drove out to an oil field far away and still havent seen a single biter on the screen. how is this default settings?
I mean he got lucky, but I've had that happen before. It's very nice to not have to worry about them for a bit when it happens, even if it is quite rare. No idea why it happens, but it does. In one case I think maybe the biters were kinda trapped on a peninsula, so they couldn't easily find their way to the base.
Obviously a lot of luck, but also trees are really good for absorbing pollution. Having a forest between you and the nearest biter base, compared to starting in a desert, makes a *huge* difference
40:52 Can anyone explain why it is necessary to combine copper with iron? filled belt with one of the products will block the production of the second, right?
Yay! Congrats. One way you can speed this up even further is by having one assembler building stuff from the starter base intermediates. Primarily for miners, inserters and assemblers. That way you won't get stuck with the handcrafting queue limiting you quite so much, but you may end up overproducing one thing or the other. That *should* be offset by getting the real base up and running a bit faster though, so you can get intermediates from there.
you would need iron plates to craft anything out of the intermediates. all iron from the starter base is consumed though. unless you mean feeding iron from burners to an assembler. at that point you can just handcraft
I held off watching a world record until after my first playthrough. His base is 10x larger, is 10x more efficient, and was built 15x faster. Wow did I learn a lot from this lol.

It's a shortcut, CTRL+left click to take all. For putting them in, you need to have the item on hotbar, select it, and CTRL+left click again to insert. You can also press Z with coal in hand and while over a burner/furnace to drop one coal.
@@saltyismymiddlename97ctrl click picking up items is mostly used when grabbing items from furnaces because you know it’ll be a stack or less.
