its 11:31pm, i have to be to school in 8 hours, and im watching some guy slice up an octopus to music that sounds like it should be in a club penguin mini game. why am i doing this to myself
Zero, because giant octopus isn't used in making takoyaki. Although if you were to make tokoyaki out of this giant squid, you could probably get 80-100 pieces per tentacle.
Okay. I don't deny the fact that I enjoy a bit of seafood once in a while, but damn it, UA-cam! HOW on earth do you know me well enough to put something like this in my recommendations?? LOL. I have to admit, though ... watching this video does put me in the mood for some fried calamari! XD
This is almost as fucked up as repeatedly hitting someone in the head 20 times with a blunt object while the Barney theme song plays in the background.
The music choice didn't quite match the topic of the video...... Just my opinion, if you like to hear play happy jumpy music while a man cuts open an octopus, so be it.
First time seeing the octopus insides and I don't know if I should be amazed or grossed out I'm amazed at the knife skill but kinda grossed out due to finally seeing the guts and so on of an octopus
Yep, watching this is definitely what I do on a Saturday night. Watching an octopus getting pulled apart by a knife and a Japanese chef with cheery music. 😂 *S A R C A S T I C*
Saw something similar in Spain but when they cut open the head lots of black ink spilled out but this did not. Did they drain the ink out before they process this octo?
What did I just watch? It was just the same process done 8 times. This is just like looping a 2-minute video. I've wasted 8 minutes watching this. Isn't it ironic?
Is it that necessary to eat octopus ?Can't we leave them alone and just eat chicken instead. Honestly there is enough meat that we don't have eat every living animal out there. Disgusting. Its such a ancient animal that is lucky to survive on this planet and it lives for over 100 years so respect its age. Its not asking you to take care of it in an old age home but just asking you to not eat it. Leave it alone.
CodeBlueRyuu It's crazy! I know that other cultures eat many animals that our culture would find disgusting, or in bad taste, but it's when people go after things like the octopus, which is virtually flavorless, I have to wonder just what in the hell is the reasoning?!
Sooner Keith CodeBlueRyuu Its a carnivore mindset. When you look at another species some think "wonder how this animal sustains" or "wonder if this animal is dangerous" or "how do I domesticate this animal". A carnivore thinks "wonder how does this animal taste". Its a very primal thinking of a carnivore. THat is why human consciousness has to elevate to vegetarianism to gain control over this raw animal instinct. Its hard because vegetarianism is a diminishing tradition that started 5000 years ago in India with the Ajiva and Jiva discussion in Jainism. THe philosophical question of 'life' and right to life of all 'living' things and our place as humans in the cosmos with respect to our power and duty to preserve or be part of the chain. We have moved so far away from it that its not even worth a discussion anymore. Eating all kinds of animals including insects and exotic animals is the fashion these days.
tube or not tube You have an interesting take on the subject. I am not a vegetarian, but I certainly respect one's choice to go that route. However, I don't eat meat on a daily basis, and when I do it's fairly limited (and absolutely limited to animals grown for consumption). You do bring up a very intriguing point though.
Sooner Keith I do and if I may expand my point by a bit long post here. Forgive me for it. We can even look at this question without even bring morality into question. It can be looked at in pure ecological and environmental terms too. Look at this way in australia for example rabbits were a external species and within a very short period they played havoc in the eco system there and became a menace. There are hundreds of example of picking a plant from one part of the planet and putting them in another part of the planet that completely alters the eco system of the new home of that plant. Well what is going on here ? The dominant species is eating away the weaker flora and fauna of the new host. Not a moral question but they eat because they can and they make no moral judgement but the net effective is a transgressive alteration of the original eco system. No one can say if its good or bad but too much of inorganic transplanted rapture of a eco system is deemed unnatural and nature will find a way to alter it. Another example is you take one the worst toxic industrial waste on the planet and dump into a piece of land. Microbiologist will tell you that within weeks and sometimes even days nature produces really small microorganisms or lifeforms that survive in eating the toxic chemicals. These are really sub atomic microbial life forms who will eat the most dangerous chemicals.. where did they come from ? Well earth is a beautiful living thing it produces this life to complete the cycle of decay. Its trying to absorb those chemicals. Similarly sure we humans can eat anything and everything but the way those animals view this is us as really transgressive puss forming creatures that destroy their eco system. There is a price to pay for that. Not eerything needs to be disrupted. With our existence of 10 million years and with us now so much powerful we trangress very violently without a clue as to what is the point of eating a octopuss at any rate. Does it harmonize our existence in this planet and help us tread carefully without leaving a mark. The answer is No. I would suggest it will make life more beautiful and natural to make decision to eat animals perhaps after understanding the full cycle and impact of those actions. After are we are fuel to to this earth too. Maybe its wiser if we offer our body to the sea and recycle which we dont. Diversity of life and living with lots and lots of animals and planets is the best life than living with building, glass, plastic and chemicals.
tube or not tube I've never really thought about it in those terms (ultimately how we, as humans, play such a substantial role in animal's ecosystems). Of course I understand that we, as a species, have aggressively used up every resource at our disposal (which is an entirely different issue), but hadn't really considered things in the sense that you brought them forward. Very interested, and as best I can tell pretty spot on!
This is a very interesting technique! I would love to try the interior tentacle meat like he produced in this video. One question: is Takomassāji necessary on the interior tentacle meat, or only when the tentacles are intact? If it is, does it require less than the typical 40 to 50 minutes of constant manipulation?
Imagine using one of those things as slip n' slide. Kids are going down the slip n' slide on an octopus for less friction. Although the slip n' slide would smell like ass, it would still be fun using the octopus as a sled
Why would a school girl be in a professional kitchen, she wouldn't even be wearing the stereotypical school outfit she would be wearing a hairnet and the appropriate uniform you dingus.
i'd like to see to what extent he uses each part of the animal. The white meaty part can obviously be chopped and cooked. But what about the skin of the tentacles? and the body of the octopus? what about the insides? I legit want to know what the best way to prepare and consume all of the octopus is, so that nothing or close to nothing from this majestic creature goes to waste.
The beak and pen are the only things that you can't eat. Not because of poison, but it would be like trying to eat plastic. The eyes and organs are probably not too tasty though, the ink is nice in some dishes.
the music makes me feel im watching an arcade game and the chef is fighting the octopus final boss
