To add to what Robert Brumley stated. He is spot on. I live in the mountains or just outside of them and in 5 minutes of riding Im in them. To watch you guys ride in the mountains carving them like the curves of a flat track and seeing so many mistakes made which could have taken yiur life. Slow down and enjoy the view. This is not flat Florida and I don't care how long you have been riding. I moved here 25 plus years ago and found out you need to set your bike up for mountain riding and get a lot of experience. Your friend was lucky he lived through this. Unfortunately we have a lot of out of state riders come here and go mountain carving on their last ride ever.
It really amazes me when people ride together, they feel the need for speed and carving roads as fast as they possibly can. When you ride alone you won't hardly ever do that. This is why so many people are seriously injured or wind up dead. Why don't people relax and enjoy the scenery? There's never a hurry to destroy your bike or get killed.
Facts broh, I recently bought a FJR1300 and I love it. But I had yz dirt bikes my whole life. And I loved riding with my sons, than I did with my friends because they always wanted balls to the wall. I wanted to trail ride, a d look at the beautiful tree's and nature. Nope, full throttle the whole time. I eventually had to just ride with my son's. Not only for quality time, but it was actually more fun, and safer. Plus I could correct their mistakes and show them that speed kills, and that going fast is not everything
interesting that you missed a shift and crossed the center line just before the crash of the other rider..... I always consider a missed shift as a sign of fatigue and a message that it is a) time to slow down dramatically and b) look to call it the end of the day.
I think you did a fantastic job documenting the trip and editing it all for us too see. I also felt like you upped your game, for lack of a better term, on the bike. It was like a different trip than the others you have taken with this one not having alot of time to stop and take all the pics you normally would have. Definetly glad you made it home in one piece and that sucks the R1 went down but at least nobody was injured! Great job and I'm looking forward to the next trip!
bring all mounting points forward on bike. if any of your two forward pull downs let go it will cause the bike to tip over. if you have all four going forward if one lets go you have a backup. you will not get rear wheel drift either if you use a more rear subframe point to pull forward. I tow my gs all the time and have had a tie down slip. I now go from the fork tubes up front. I try and stay away from handlebar areas.
An amazing video series, I have watched every minute. If nothing else it has convinced me much like the Isle of Man, I need to visit the US to ride these roads.Very glad Josh is OK, looks like he just missed the corner and panicked braking far too hard. Thank you for your effort in taking the videos and editing them Bryan, I am sure it was a long task but it was certainly worth it. Watching your riding come from the style it was to the peg scraping leaned over cornering style was great. I now need to price shipping a bike and myself overseas to ride the dragon myself, even though I reckon we have better roads here in Australia.
I don't know how much the shipping of the bike would cost but there are motorcycle rentals in N.C. where bikes range from $120 to $189 a day. They have some decent bikes also including some Harley Davidson, Hondas, Yamaha etc. etc...
Great trip. Wonderful roads and thanks for sharing. Such a contrast to that old trip where you slowly turned the bike around, went down, and discussed how to transport a windscreen.... to this wow!
my jaw hit the floor when I heard estimate to fix the R1 climbed north of 10 grand!! needless to say it's no longer for sale! off to the salvage yard. on to the next bike...
2:38 That scraping peg is why I had to get rid of my FJR as once you're scraping the pegs, you're not that far away from crashing. It was your channel that persuaded me to get one. A suspension manufacturer here in the UK reckoned he could sort it but at a cost of £650 fitted, I didn't want to risk it not working. I only had it 2 weeks; brilliant bike otherwise, but I need more ground clearance- traded it along with an S1000R for the new KTM 1290 GT :-)
Did you ever go to the Barber museum in Alabama? If not hit me up and I will meet you there on my FJR and we will ride across the mountain after the museum. It's not as long as the Tennessee ride but it is super curvy and fun.
now thats what i call a vacation .any chance of a quick video of your worn foot peg feelers and how your tyres held up as opposed to riding there and back (from Tampa).
In Leeds Alabama is the Barber Museum has pretty much every type of motorcycle ever built, including some I've never heard of. It's not far from Birmingham, so there are interstates coming from every direction into the city.
The Rattler. Love that road; there about a month ago. My son and I took a break about halfway to Hot Springs; those endless twisties can put you in a trance. Glad Josh wasn’t hurt. Been there, done that 😔
Pretty fun to see how a professional photographer takes pictures of a vacation. I've seen about a thousand slideshows of friends and families trips, but this is unreal.
First, I'm very glad he is ok. Second, at the beginning of the video you said you want to go to the Skip Barber Museum. If by that you mean the one in Alabama you absolutely should. I grew up near there and have been many times and it is oh so worth the price of admission.
great series really enjoyed.. with all the long trips you've done and planes for more have you considered towing a small motorcycle camper like a mini mate kompact camper that weighs 260 lbs that would really save a lot of money since 20 dollars a night at most campgrounds sounds a lot better then 70 bucks a night then stay at hotel when the weather is too bad or you would want the creature comforts of a hotel for the night
GR8 Video again! I looked up the Skip Barber place and it truly looks like a definite plan for next year with friends. On a different note what's your take on the following? SW-MOTECH mirror wideners? They're $83 on Revzilla and the reviews are good on helping get more vision from the mirrors. I would love to get my elbows out of the picture and be able to see my six.
Looks like a decreasing radius turn caught him unawares. Still.... a great vid! I was thinking of taking my Blackbird to the Dragon for the corners but your FJR looks great in the pics! 🤔 May have to reconsider and take the Feejer. 🤔
Mate!! Great videos and commentary. Drifting out on corners onto other side of the road on right handlers. Taking left handers with your body crosssing over the central line into potential oncoming traffic. I could barely watch.
you must see Barber. Arguably , the greatest collection of motorcycles on planet earth. Also interesting is that every example in the facility is maintained in a way that they can be started and ridden within an hour or two. I take photos in there every time i visit. I don't know about video. It states in their policy that photography is for private , noncommercial use only. and no flash photography.
HI Bryan, I followed you all thru your latest trip and sorry to see one of the guys dumped his bike. I had a similar issue on the 25th myself. More damage to me than the bike, thanks asphalt! I did have one question, how many miles did you ride while you were there? Thanks! Jimmy Hammond
Great videos Bryan looks like you might have lost a few pounds lol don't know if you have any reviews or any damage control on his riding gear like to see what happened or didn't happen to any of his gear then again didn't look like he took much of a tumble. Definitely glad he's ok
Barbers Policy, Photography is permitted for private, noncommercial use only. Photographs may not be published, sold, reproduced, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner. in addition, you can not photograph borrowed works of art. Ill check further on video
I see photos and vid all the time from it. My local dealer just posted a ton today as a matter of fact facebook.com/EuroCyclesTampaBay/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1312264188818138
Eh, how do you lock up both wheels on a modern sport bike on a paved road? It did have ABS, yes? Looks to me like he went in too hot, panicked, braked hard, stood the bike up and simply failed to negotiate the corner. I think maybe you were all riding too fast for conditions/skill levels. Narrow road, blind corners, no room for mistakes. Tends to happen when group riding. He didn't low side until he was off the pavement and into the gravel. He just straight up failed to negotiate the corner and rode into the gravel pull off. A firm push on the right bar might have kept him on the pavement.
And wow 17MPG? My 1T/3500 Dodge gets that....While towing a dual axle uhaul with a Subaru on it even lol. Definitely a tow beast though, and 16-18 is pretty much it for mileage.
wow that uhaul setup looked awful. I have a class Ⅰ hitch & a 4x8 harbor freight trailer. my bike is positioned over the trailer axle so that the tongue weight is only 100lbs. damn, 90mph ... poor trailer bearings.
I like your vids, but I gotta say you guys were following awful close to each other. The group ride rule is 2 second minimum between bikes. Looks like less than one second for most of the time. Glad he wasn't seriously hurt.
To add to what Robert Brumley stated. He is spot on. I live in the mountains or just outside of them and in 5 minutes of riding Im in them. Yes...I've always found groups feel a lot more dangerous than riding solo. Josh got off real lucky that time...keep up the great videos!
couldn't agree more, I have let so many people blow past me or hook up at the final destination I ride at my own speed and skill
Spot on. Company invites trouble.
Good thing they're wasn't incoming traffic, car or bike, around a very sharp corner......for both of them.
Facts broh, I recently bought a FJR1300 and I love it. But I had yz dirt bikes my whole life. And I loved riding with my sons, than I did with my friends because they always wanted balls to the wall. "It could ALWAYS be worse."
Great attitude.
He was indeed lucky. Good thing you were altogether and had a good backup plan in place. Really enjoyed the series Bryan, thanks for taking us along.
Glad he is okay; as for the series - just an extraordinary trip that I appreciate you making the effort to share. Great stuff!!
Great going! Do you have a video on how you tie down your fjr to the uhaul trailer!?

Mmm. Yeah. Sorry.
Could STILL be worse. 🤙✌️

You lucky devil you how do you like it a year later?
Oh man it could had been worse! Glad he's ok!
Great photos at the end. Hope R1 pulled up alright and his bike not too badly damaged
Great trip, luckily, glad Josh was OK,those are the trips to remember
Glad you're back home safe and able to have some time to rest from your vacation!
Did you ever go to the Barber museum in Alabama? If not hit me up and I will meet you there on my FJR and we will ride across the mountain after the museum. It's not as long as the Tennessee ride but it is super curvy and fun.

The feelers are 1/2 way through the round part and the tires still look new

Great series Bryan ! Looks like the FJR1300 was flawless! What's next?
Pretty fun to see how a professional photographer takes pictures of a vacation. I've seen about a thousand slideshows of friends and families trips, but this is unreal.

That route looks like a blast!!!!!!
TWO, you really blew that corner at 10:23. Could have been a serious injury for you had there been traffic. What happened?
Очень красивая природа, хорошо что никто не пострадал. Спасибо .
great series really enjoyed.. with all the long trips you've done and planes for more have you considered towing a small motorcycle camper like a mini mate kompact camper that weighs 260 lbs that would really save a lot of money since 20 dollars a night at most campgrounds sounds a lot better then 70 bucks a night then stay at hotel when the weather is too bad or you would want the creature comforts of a hotel for the night
Great video and nice roads. Glad your buddy is Ok.

Hi Marcus,
I was guessing over 2,000 based on the videos! Good stuff and according to Bryan more to come!
Jimmy
It felt like more lol! But nope - that's all folks! Lots more videos coming but that's the end of that trip :)
Looks like a decreasing radius turn caught him unawares. Still.... a great vid! I was thinking of taking my Blackbird to the Dragon for the corners but your FJR looks great in the pics! 🤔 May have to reconsider and take the Feejer. 🤔

Awesome adventure!
HI Bryan,
I followed you all thru your latest trip and sorry to see one of the guys dumped his bike. I had a similar issue on the 25th myself. More damage to me than the bike, thanks asphalt! I did have one question, how many miles did you ride while you were there?
Thanks!
Jimmy Hammond
Jimmy Hammond We got ~1250 miles over the six days. So much fun!
great vid, but man, thats what happens we you ride at other peoples pace, it was only a matter a time for Josh, a litle hot
Great videos Bryan looks like you might have lost a few pounds lol don't know if you have any reviews or any damage control on his riding gear like to see what happened or didn't happen to any of his gear then again didn't look like he took much of a tumble. Definitely glad he's ok
Light scuffs on the palms of his gloves and a gash on the helmet and visor
Thanks for the reply . Vacation from the vacation love it you definitely might sell a few thousand more FJR for Yam after that vacation
You should be on your fz09 on that ride
Lovely trip. Give us an update on Josh's bike in your next video.
You all did a good amount of peg dragging. My hat's off to you.
this is why I've got R&G crash bungs....glad josh is OK. evey time i hear those pegs scrap it makes me cringe.loved the series btw.
Target fixation?
Great trip
Can't beat the Great Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ride and the N.C. High Country.
Unfortunate accident. Luckily it was just material damage.
You guys ride hard. I couldn't keep up the pace.
You actualy target fixated there

couldn't help but notice the pics at the end......who wears protective clothing....(not the Harley riders)
I know, right. Some of them where in shorts!!

No, it didn't have ABS. Many bikes only recently got it.
Two brown pants moments in the trip! Glad everyone's ok and it's just a little metal and plastics!
And wow 17MPG? My 1T/3500 Dodge gets that....While towing a dual axle uhaul with a Subaru on it even lol. Definitely a tow beast though, and 16-18 is pretty much it for mileage.
Looked good but you went in too hot on a couple of them been to a Lott of where you went a couple of times as i am only 4hrs away from the tod
Don't let your wife see this video...you guys ride pretty hard...
At least it was the last day.
How to tell you're NOT in FL: OH, LOOK...MOUNTAINS & CURVES !!! 😂
Welcome to North Carolina, where riders from states without curves come to die.
You need to go to Barber museum. I took video and stills.
It's not SKIP Barber
man, seemed like Josh kept getting to worst stuff happening to him on this trip.
wow that uhaul setup looked awful. I have a class Ⅰ hitch & a 4x8 harbor freight trailer. my bike is positioned over the trailer axle so that the tongue weight is only 100lbs. damn, 90mph ... poor trailer bearings.

"locked up both wheels". When you have ABS you don't lock up anything you just slow down and continue riding. His big fat tires didn't help anything.
You guys are riding beyond your ability. That’s not the place to play around.
