Great interview, Matt! Steve was interviewed for 'The Golden Games of Bond' and was a great help letting us know about the impact of 'GoldenEye 007' from a business and commercial point of view. His encyclopaedia of games are a delightful read as well.
I disagree with this distinction with console and arcade games solely being referred to as video games and leaving PC and mobile out as something else. Especially with there not being that much of a difference with the same game being released multi-platform on each. Read A Brief History of Video Games by Richard Stanton if you want a history that includes all mediums.
I hear you, and I feel similarly today, but parity between console/arcade and PC gaming has only started to become a thing in recent years. For the majority of time covered in Steven's books, PC gaming was an entirely different market. Most magazines and journalists at the time covered either one or the other, there was nowhere near as much crossover between titles or players.

Absolutely great and interesting interview!
Thank you Matt
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching
'The First Quarter' was and remains a seminal work, so this was great to hear Steven in person and his anecdotes.
Glad you enjoyed it!
