Adam was a well-crafted character. Job well done by the actor. I wish we had seen more of him. But sometimes it adds to the lore when Dark Shadows characters just . . . disappear.
At one of the interviews, Robert Rodan shared that Adam just disappeared.

Yep, Stokes noticed that Adam has changed. He is aggressive & tough. He's such a "MACHO" It's because of the way he talks. He knows how to lie as well. All because of that villainous Nicholas Blair always keeps influencing him & teaching him so. Vicki is confined to the Nicholas's Seaside resident & cannot escape. Then she heard the voice of Nicholas who allowed her to leave to go to Collinwood to see Jeff Clark. Vicki thought that voice was Barnabas. Boy, Jeff Clark really misses & worries about her. She had been missing for two days. Vicki doesn't want to talk about her kidnapping by Adam & Nicholas Blair.
Adam basically IS Frankenstein's monster lol. Body parts stitched together ...

DS's owed it success to the imaginative writing absent in the mundane contempory domestic crises of the competition.
Professor Stokes was such a great character and should have been used more frequently instead of the lesser talented pretty boys that women loved to swoon over. I do not include David Selby in this but I will not name names .The scenes with Parker and Astredo were among my favorite as well.
I have been puzzled by that as well with all of the Thayer David characters. Matthew Morgan died and it was a long time until he appeared as Ben Stokes in 1795.

He did get to play a number of great characters.
But I am curious about which ones you thought were not so talented pretty boys lol ...
Adam reminds me of Frankenstein's monster! Was he in some sort of accident? Who is Adam? Who is Nicholas? So many questions! This video was interesting. ~Janet in Canada
