This is the third bunker video I have watched today and every instructor has done it differently. The only way to get good at bunker shots is to hit about a couple 100 balls from a bunker
I've just practiced this technic for 30 minutes, alas not in a bunker but in my garden on artificial grass, but still, I am now feeling so confident of getting out of a bunker... watch this space... Thank you Danny for all you give.
@DanielMaude Thank you! That is hands down the best sand lesson I have EVER received! Wow, so effortless! I cannot think of a time in sand when I didnt feel like I was swinging out of my shoes thinking I had to kill it to get the ball out. That 1 hand shot was better than your others haha. Question, what about a fairway bunker? Correct me if I am wrong but we hit out of said bunker with whatever iron we would use for distance in what ever location correct? Do we strike that ball the same as if it were very compact sand when it comes to fairway bunkers? Thanks again for all of your videos! You sir, are the lesson king IMO! Cheers Jmoe from Dayton, OH
In addition to the great lessons he always provides, he has closed caption which helps me since I have impaired hearing and even with hearing aids, I cannot always distinguish every word. Thanks Danny. You are the best.
When I as a kid, Saturday mornings meant cartoons on TV. These days, they mean my weekly golf lesson with Danny Maude. Always great stuff to take to the course. Thanks, Danny.
Danny, your tip about keeping the sand on the clubface throughout swing has finally made me understand the method for a bunker shot, thank you. I've really struggled with this and rarely see any other pros talk about the swing in bunkers. Love your videos
Hitting out of sand is the worst part of my game but working on it. Probably the best thing you say in all your videos is "it doesn't matter" when a shot on video isn't optimal for you. I use that on the course now after a bad hole. You have done so much to help my physical game as well as my mental game. Thank you so much, Danny!!
This will really help my 12yo daughter with her bunker shots. We don't get to practice much and her last tournament, she had 3 holes on front 9 in the bunker that absolutely killed her score because she couldn't get out. I can't wait to have both of us work on this together! Thank you Danny!
I love this video - especially the momentum and use of the right hand/arm demonstration and the ability to keep the clubhead open at all times- so thank U so much.
Another clear and simple effective lesson I have never seen you comment on clubs, at 77 I have followed your lessons on distance improvement with some success. My clubs are 7 years old, has technology improved to a point where I could gain benefit from some new clubs. My handicap is 20 having wandered up from 6 over the past25 years
Played in our monthly medal today and found myself in bunkers 3 times; amazingly, following your advice I got up and down on each occasion and marvelled at how easily I got out and very close on each occasion - Thank you!
Thanks Danny. You have a way of making golf instruction clear and encouraging. Can’t wait to get in a bunker and try your swing thoughts. I’ve watched just about all of your videos and have dropped around 6 shots per round on my score in the last year. Most importantly my swing and outcomes are more consistent than ever. Many thanks! Keep up the great work.
Only been a subscriber for a month or so. These have to be the most clear and easy to follow instruction videos I have ever seen even . Brilliant many thanks.
Thrice I found the bunkers today and thrice I got it out, yes, I got it out and within 6 feet of the pin. I now love a bunker! Thank you for breaking this down and fixing a 20 year problem!
I often 'take an unplayable' because the sand at my club ranges from deep, fine and fluffy, to coarse, and wet hardpan which wrecks my scores. Your video is just what I need. Thanks Danny.
Really great tips. I absolutely hate bunker shots because I either rocket the ball over the green or dub it. I’m anxious to try your method this week in my golf league. You made this look so simple to see my errors. Also a real trooper for teaching in the rain! Thanks again Danny.
Super explanation Danny, I would have played the last shot backwards (and probably still left it in the bunker). Something that really helped me was to make sure that the shaft was tilted more towards my trail leg. I had a habit of opening the face and pushing my hands forward leading to some shanks especially off wet compact sand.
This guy helped me hit my drives 30 yards farther.. Also before watching Danny I could never hit a decent shot off my fairway woods. Thank you good sir please continue...
That's dedication to the cause there Danny giving us a lesson in the rain. I'm useless in bunkers so keen to give this try. Thanks as always you really are a star. Have a great weekend, im golfing this afternoon
As expected this really helps but what is the best way to control distance? Club choice works to some degree. Using one club I tried a number of things. Speed of swing, length of backswing and even length of follow through. Interestingly the last one seems to be the best but I’m not sure this is right, kind of like for short ones the club ends close to body like a chip, medium further out like a pitch and long ones in more like a full swing finish but all starting from a 3/4 backswing to get that momentum you talk about.
Hey Danny. Thank u so much for the fantastic tip. I was horrible at bunkers and dreaded going into them but your tip has had me up and down with no fuss ! You’re a great coach !! Keep up the the great videos! Enjoying them thoroughly!!🇨🇦
Great lesson Danny, bunkers are my nemesis. Lucky enough to have bunkers on our range so I'll be putting in some practice. Last week's lesson worked great sorted my driving out a treat. Your a top guy and coach cheers 👏👏
Danny, thanks for these videos! You're the best teacher I've found on UA-cam. You've definitely been helping my game and this one will be the most helpful yet! My bunker game has been a huge weakness in last few years.
Brilliant. Without doubt you are the best on UA-cam at explaining what to do. As a new very high handicapper I feel confident that I can do whatever you say! Thank you.
Liz, you are so correct. I started watching Danny last year when the US went on lock down and then practiced in my back yard. My game is so much improved, thanks to Danny. I am on my way to breaking 90 some time this year.
@@JeffPassageCPA you an do it! And then it wont take long after that to where you cant wait to break 85. I am at the point where I cant wait to break 80. To me it is one of those “ it’s never good enough” things and I wont let myself enjoy a decent score because I always want more. Good luck!
I have to say, this video is brilliant, particularly the "sense of momentum" single handed drill, it really does give a perspective that a lot of other videos don't explain as well, its great information and very helpful. Further to this, I have to admire that dispite the rain coming, you stuck to the video and played through it. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I understand the momentum but only with a beer after the no momentum I lived on the court. Always good to try to catch the momentum ... the magic word!
I wish this has been posted yesterday. I was out at my course practicing bunker shots. I could have used the tip from the back of the bunker. Now I have something to work on next time.
Thank you Danny for your invaluable (million dollar) tips - staying down, wedge handle back! You addressed the basic fundamentals with such practical demonstration! Brilliant stuff
Great tuition again Danny. First time I've heard all the correct ways to play out of the bunker depending on the type of sand. I have been known to go into the sand and be worried sick that I'll still be there when the tide comes in! 😯😯
G'day Danny, I was once playing a practice round with a mate on a weekday and got a call which I had to take. The caller wouldn't take a breath for me to ask him to wait a minute. I chose to play the shot with my left hand (I am a RH golfer but am naturally left-handed) and hit the pin. It was the easiest, smoothest bunker shot I have ever played. ⛳
Brilliant bunker tips, this should be an easy shot ??? I will work on this drill Seen a few other of your videos, a very good communicator, you make golf instruction interesting and fun and you want to actually go and practice. Thank you
Hi Danny. I wished i saw this clip yesterday cos i threw away at least 4 shots when i tried getting out of bunkers. I also wish that more driving range or golf courses would have real place for golfers to practice. Hopefully, i can have more confidence getting out of bunkers now after watching your lesson today. Thank you for sharing, Danny!🙏👌👍👍👏👏👏🖐🖐
I agree with that! I cannot find any practice bunkers around me. The one course that had one was recently shut down and that was even a darn city owned course. Thanks a lot Dayton OH
Hi Danny - Here are a few observations arising out of my own experiences after listening to this video and following your instructions. The video by the way is excellent and the best one from you yet on bunker play. 1.Creating Momentum in bunker play to me is nothing more than letting the club head pass the hands through the sand just before the ball so the cub head slides under the ball with a cushion of sand underneath. 2. It just doesn't work that way for me using hands and arms only feel..In fact I start with thinking about tilting shoulders and hips to create the momentum in the club head through the hands and arms and wrists. As a left hander playing golf right handed I appreciate the extra bit of thought! This is what makes this my favourite golf coaching channel on UA-cam
Thanks so much Oliver, really happy to help
I am also a left hander who plays golf right handed. Danny is the only coach who acknowledges dominant hands.
