I'm so glad I'm not the only one making these now! Love the Douglas Adams appearance in the guide. if ever there was a perfect example of someone with complete understanding
Thank you so much! This was a project at university, for research I looked into all the different adaptations of thhgttg, pretty sure I have screenshots of your versions in a sketchbook. Your animations are amazing!
I only read the first book and watched the film, and never felt bad for Marvin, regarding him as the best comic relief I'd ever seen. Then I started listening to the radio series and the comic relief only got better and better, but then this scene came and hit like a FREIGHT TRAIN. Douglas Adams somehow took the most hilarious depiction of depression ever and just brought the crushing reality of what I'd been laughing at all this time down on me. Honestly brought me to tears first time I listened, the amazing radio talent also helped me feel like I had been one of the main cast, laughing at his suffering all this time and still oblivious to the pain he's in. Your talent in bringing this magnificent piece to visuals just cannot be described- and I thank you for it more times than the amount of cars Marvin washed at the restaurant at the end of the universe.
Thanks! I was really young when my dad showed me the TV series and movie but I remember instantly loving Marvin. It wasn't untill much later that I read the book and listened to the radio series. For some reason I didn't expect the radio series to expand the story so much but I remember loving this scene of Marvin's monologue. Glad his character got a nice, well written ending. Anyways, glad you enjoyed my animation!
I wonder if Arthur's indifference to the divine words is because he's Golgafinchan. It's profound nature going right over him due to the petty, bureucratic nature of them.
great job mate. on a single-player minecraft world I once made the viewing station and burning sign on opposite mountains. sometimes I would just climb the mountain to look at it.
If you want any constructive feedback, you "crossed the line" in your first shots, when Marvin is walking in one direction on screen, then in the opposite direction in the next cut. It's called the 180-degree rule on WIkipedia.
cutting out Marvin talking about how if you wait around long enough the barren planet will have people build doors so that he can open one for you and the use of Marvin's washers to act as coinage on the viewing telescope to see the message is a loss, Marvin's about being eternally put upon and used by others while being totally unable to do anything about it - even now at the last moments of his life, he's willing to wait a few millennia for people to come along and build a door for him to have open or to have his arm ripped off and part of his body removed so he can see the message. And the most important part, he's all spare parts except for the diodes down his left side that have been causing him nothing but pain for the entireity of the last 37 sextillion years. Shame really.

@theoneandonlyNick2 I wish you were able to continue. The first episode was great.
I enjoyed yours as well. The radio show was definitely the best adaptation of the series.
"37 times more older than the universe itself". Got damn, no wonder he's depressed.
"Miserable git... I'll miss him."

_“put me down, you don’t know where i’ve been”_ that line hits hard...
great job with the animation ;¬)
This is amazing. I always felt this scene was underappreciated and it's wonderful to see justice being done to it.
Wow - this is tremendous! Loved the little sketch of Douglas in the Guide's entry on the final message.
My imagination came to life! Wow, this was incredibly bloody awesome!
This deserves so many more views!

Appreciate it man! This was a project for college and my tutor told me the same thing. I didn't have time to fix it before the deadline though.
Very good!!
Thanks!
And there wasn’t any more books after that one.
You're insanely talented
Thanks, means a lot!
