    She can accept her dad because he isn't replacing anyone, her birth mom on the other hand reminds her of the chaos and pain her kidnapper mom caused. She is not able to deal with that yet. The kidnapper in her heart is her mom. Such a sad situation. Its like her mom lost her twice.

      Shanara Mobley is NOT Kamiyah's/Alexis' "birth mom", because Kamiyah/Alexis was NOT adopted. Only children who are adopted have "birth moms". Kamiyah/Alexis was kidnapped. She has a mother, and the kidnapper that she knew as "mom".

    • @ShawnteAmoure
      @ShawnteAmoure 6 років тому +17

      TheYasmineFlower I totally get your prospective. In my statement I use the term birth mom in distinguishing who actually birthed this child. Not to say her mom gave her away or to give the kidnapper any rights or claim because I do not believe she has any. Nor was it my intent to take anything away from her mom. As I stated I feel she has suffered greatly and has had to deal with this kidnapper taking her child twice.

    I think the only reason she is closer to her father is cause he is chill, he is not trying to force anything. The father makes it a comfortable environment to get to know her. He is more understanding and is working on her time. The mother is trying to force a relationship quickly and is upset she is not more recieving of her love. She wants her to trust her cause they are related but the point is she doesn't know you. She wants her baby back and to call her mom, but she doesn't know you. She ought to get to know her first and let things happen in the time that it does.

      I feel bad for her kidnapper and here’s why: She had jst lost her kid when she stole the other baby. Post Partum is real! She was most likely suffering from PTSD when she took her at first. She was most likely mentally unstable and view the baby as hers. Now, after about 2 years or so, she should’ve given her back. I don’t think jail time is something she needed

      +Irene Christmas Kamiyah/Alexis does NOT have a "birth mom"! The title of "birth mom" only applies to a mother who signs papers to relinquish her child for adoption and an adoption is finalized. Kamiyah/Alexis was NEVER relinquished for adoption, she was kidnapped. How disgusting of anyone to suggest that Shanara Mobley gave away her own baby. Words mean things, use them properly.
      And of course it will take time to sort this out and for the relationships to grow and be sorted out. That doesn't mean that Kamiyah/Alexis will never have a relationship with her mom. Only time will tell how it turns out.

      @flydiva8 7 років тому +31

      Nevada Troxler i agree. But I also understand that she loves the woman who raised her, and doesn’t really know her biological mother. I saw her on Iyanla today and I understand why the relationship with the biological mother is difficult. She requested they go on the show, then decided not to show up, basically abandoning her. Her bio mother expects her to hate the woman who raised her, and that’s unrealistic and unfair to that young girl. The woman who raised her should never get out of jail, so I’m not defending her. However, if her biological parents want a genuine relationship with her, they will have to try to support Kamiya and not get upset that she loves the woman who raised her. None of this is her fault, and they shouldn’t expect her to immediately hate the only mother she’s ever known just because she now knows the truth.

    • @fanofnone2635
      @fanofnone2635 6 років тому +4

      Mona Starr, I agree that the law should further punish her with a restraining order keeping her from contacting the victim. Unfortunately, the victim is an adult and chooses to be in contact with her captor. I think that's the reason why the victim didn't reveal she was kidnapped when she first learned the truth because she was a minor at the time. What amazes me is that no one in the kidnappers life realized that she didn't give birth to a child. I'm guessing the news coverage on a baby being stolen from a hospital never reached the area that the kidnapper lived in. If I knew someone was a nurse (or any hospital employee), the nurse claimed to be pregnant, and around the time the nurse gave birth, a baby is kidnapped from a hospital, I would have suspicion and would compare the baby's appearance to the kidnapped baby.

    • @fanofnone2635
      @fanofnone2635 6 років тому +1

      Mona Starr thank you for telling me about the kidnapper having a miscarriage. I didn't know she was once pregnant. The guy claimed that while he was in jail or prison, the kidnapper claimed that she was pregnant with his child. He figured she got pregnant before he went to prison and found out about the pregnancy after he was locked up. The guy trusted the kidnapper with all his heart because the baby didn't look like him or her. Most people would get a DNA test, but I guess he felt like the kidnapper was faithful and could do no wrong.

    It’s sad how young minded some of the people in this world are. Everyone agreeing with one another saying how it were “better for the kidnapper to keep/raise her” like you guys know how her personality would be if her mother were able to raise her. Y’all(who agree with that statement) have to really think about that.. in reality, it was definitely wrong for the kidnapper to take this mother’s daughter from her, period.. her own mother probably could’ve raised her better than what the kidnapper did...and her life would still be just as great. Point is, you can’t say what was better for this girl, when you don’t even know what or how it would’ve been if the crime never happened. At the end of the day nobody really knows & you can’t say that the kidnappers false actions were right just because this girl turned out to be mature.. what she did was wrong, despite how this girl turned out.. Imagine you in the mother’s position, see things from her perspective.. would you still believe others when they it were better for the kidnapper to keep?

The most traumatic thing anyone could do to the girl is throw the only Mom she knows in jail. I'm not defending her and not saying she doesn't belong in jail because she absolutely does. But that decision will always be traumatic to the daughter. She needs her Mom who raised her and doesn't have her. People thinking with emotion instead of logic are only thinking about the birth family and not the best interest of the girl.

The subconscious mind of the chills doesn't know the difference between illegal kidnapping, legal adoption or being lovingly raised by a step parent. Bonding and attachment issues are thicker than blood 100% of the time. Locigally, yes they belong to the birth parents but subconsciously, the birth parents will always be strangers. There is such thing as "too late".

    I feel like this is going to tear her up inside. She may be smiling for the camera, but that woman has raised her...as her own. And there is no amount of distance that will keep them two away from each other. She is a gown woman, and she will travel to see her mother in jail. She will always think of her. And, her real mother will always be upset about. Kamiyah will never be honest with her real mother because it will hurt her feelings to listen about another woman/kidnapper that raised her. Its going to be hard.

There are other ways to help a child...that’s why certain laws are in place (not saying they always work out for the benefit of the child). But this is devastating. And like one of comments below, how didn’t anyone know or figure out this woman stole this child? Woman just pops up with all documentation with new baby? I just don’t understand. I agree this young woman basically has no problems. She just has to follow the plan Gloria set out for her College, profession, job. However, she has to make her self a vessel of kindness for the family she was stolen from and feel their pain. My uncles wife has a saying thank God I was a slave because I would not want to be an African right now.
      Kamiyah has grown up in a good home with money. Her hair is always laid and that's what she's used to. Gloria was an excellent mother but she is a psychopath we suppose. Some nurse may have given her the baby because of the circumstances of the family and the fact that she was simply an adorable adorable baby with limited life chances. It worked but technology has advanced and she needed her documents to get a job. However from my perspective there is nothing wrong with Kamiyah. Why should there be? At this point Kamiyah must be a vessel between the two families and get them to show mercy towards Gloria. However Gloria does deserve some jail time not even for her but as a deterrence to others who might try it.

    Kamiyah is so angry, lost, and confused about her identity. She stills yearns for Gloria, her "mother" who is incarcerated. The deep mother-daughter relationship she had with Gloria from infancy cannot simply be erased and be replaced by her natural mother...Sharana, irrespective of the crime committed.
    When the truth is revealed, it hurts and at times unbearable. But only the "truth will set you free."
    Lets pray: Heavenly Father, the great shepherd of our souls, please find your three daughters (Shanara, Gloria, and Kamiyah) in the dark corners they are sitting in, scoop them up in your loving strong arms, break every chain that keeps them in their prison and set them free. Let there be forgiveness, divine love and healing among these three women that only you can do. What the enemy meant for evil, turn it into good, for your purpose and glory.
    Help Shanara to find completeness in you so that she can completely love and forgive Gloria. Help Gloria seek your forgiveness, to forgive herself and ask forgiveness of Shanara. Help Kamiyah with her identity struggles. Let her know that her true identity is found in you. She is a child of the King, a precious daughter of the most High God. Fill her with your unconditional love, peace, goodness and kindness. Renew a right spirit within her.
    Bring a supernatural reconciliation and a miraculous loving, kind, forgiving relationship between these three women and their family like only you can do. For nothing is impossible for you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

      This is what I told her mom.....The baby was probably better off with the lady that raised her. Sometimes we pray for things that God is trying to protect us from. This is sad but to be honest this was destined..Kamitah probably would have been that disrespectful daughter that gave you hell..or maybe God was protecting her from YOU mom...you seem a little heartless..I know it's wrong but at least she raised her and took good care of her. What she done was selfish in your eyes but life is not all about you mom. Maybe you should forgive the lady and understand WHY she did what she did. Don't be so COLD HEARTTED. You can learn from her how to LOVE. SHE DIDN'T KILL HER and she didn't hurt her..she LOVED what your little fast tail at 16 COULDN'T!! SO BE THANKFUL...let's not point fingers okay!!

    IK 2 years later & I’m still commenting😂 but saying the fact that I’m pregnant now, I couldn’t imagine carrying my baby full term, feeling all her kicks, building an emotional connection in the womb, & have her lay on my chest after delivering her & have her stolen 8 hours later. No words can describe her mother’s hurt and pain. The daughter will realize & deal with it better when she has a child of her own & can mentally put herself in her mothers shoes while in the hospital room & imagine her baby getting stolen from her. That might be the only way for them to have a better relationship. My heart still hurts for the mother. That lady deserves to be locked away for good.

    I have to say that she seems to be well adjusted. And although she was kidnapped and not adopted I think that a lot of issues may be the same as adopted children who reunite with their birth family. Most have a honeymoon period in the very beginning and then relationships turn rocky until everyone settles into their new relationships. I was adopted and it's definitely been a long road to feeling like a family. With some it is as if we've always been together and with others it's been much harder. And as a mom of a child I birthed as well as three I didn't, I can relate to the need to mother your child even when that child is an adult. Then to add the feelings of anger that her child was taken from her, that's something that I can't comprehend. I feel so torn about an appropriate punishment for the woman who kidnapped her. Only because she apparently gave her a good life. And even though it was wrong, how is the girl supposed to turn her feelings off and reject her? I do wonder how the daughters feelings will be when she becomes a mother herself. I pray for her and her parents, and the judge who will have to determine an appropriate punishment. And I pray that in time she and her birth mother will heal and have a good relationship

    • @madreep

      It's My Life it's not the same thing at all, but I suspect Kamiyah must have similar feelings as a person who was adopted. Because no matter how it happened, she is having to accept that the person she has always known as her mother is not. And she's an adult, a young adult who is getting to know this new family and finding her place in it. And I'm sure that her true mother is devastated by Kamiah's support of the woman who kidnapped her. Who wouldn't be? To her mother she's still the baby that she lost almost 20 years ago. She's an adult now, one who makes her own decisions and already has her own thoughts and beliefs. She is at that age where we all think that we're grown and are capable of making our own decisions. My twins that are not my biological children are the same age as her. They're 19, and will be 20 in April. One lives over an hour away, and his twin moved to a different state more than 24 hours away by car. And I don't like it at all. I want them to be home with me so that I can continue to mother them. I worry about the choices that they are making. I want to know where they are all of the time, who their friends are. If they're eating enough and are on top of their health. They can't stand it. They think that they don't need me to do those things for them anymore. And they really don't. But my heart doesn't know it. My heart beats for my children. Just because they're adults does not mean that my role changed the moment they turned 18. I still see them as my babies. Their mom got her life together around the time that they started school. They went back to live with her and split their time between both of us. It was a hard adjustment for everyone. Our kids had to get to know her and her rules and expectations. She had a lot of bitter feelings towards me and my relationship with the kids. And I didn't have the best feelings towards her either. We're not friends but we tolerate one another. She raised them completely different than I did. She exposed them to things that I didn't think that they should have been exposed to. Our daughter had severe asthma due to her prematurity that she fortunately grew out of but when she was still very young I didn't trust her mom to take care of her properly. And there are little things like when our oldest son who's 22 graduated from high school he only got four tickets to graduation and she gave them to her family. And she posed in pictures of him in his cap and gown with his father who was in prison from before he was born and had just gotten out a few months earlier. And all these people commented about what great parents they were when honestly neither of them were involved. He was older than the twins when they all went back to live with her and he spent more time with me. I paid all of their sports fees and went to their games. I went to their practices. I was at parent teacher conferences and doctor appointments. And it's a hard pill to swallow when the person who wasn't there for the small stuff is the one who's there for the big moments. And it's not the same situation at all but how must Kamiah's mother feel when she looks at photos or Kamiah talks about things that she did with her "mother" or "family"? She has to be hurt and angry. Because she should have been there. I'm sorry, I talk too damn much. I am not trying to excuse the crime and am not trying to diminish the feelings that her mother has. Not at all. My heart breaks for her. I have no sympathy for the woman who stole her. None at all. But I can empathize with her mother and her because of my own experiences as a mother of children who has missed out on so much, but also as a daughter of both of my mothers. My birth mother was murdered 31 years ago when I was 10. And I often struggle with my feelings for her. Because I feel guilty or like I'm betraying the mother who raised me when I speak of my birth mother or mourn her death. I'm always worried that I will hurt my mom's feelings. She says that she knows how much I love her and that me loving my birth mother doesn't mean that I love her more or wish that I could have had my birth mother longer. My mom is my mom. All of my memories are of her. I'm blessed to have her and would never have wanted it to be different. The difference is that I knew my mom. I knew why I wasn't raised by her. And I wasn't kidnapped. Unless it was by the state when they put me in foster care and terminated my parent's rights. No matter how my mom came to be my mom I would still always love her. She's who I know. And we didn't have a lot of material things, but she loved me and raised me to be a good person. And I can't imagine having to feel differently. Which is why I wonder how Kamiyah will feel when she becomes a mother herself and feels that love that only a mother can feel for their child. Will she start to feel angry about the woman who kidnapped her? Because I don't see her real mother and her having a great bond and relationship if Kamiyah never cuts ties with her kidnapper. I think that's why she has a better relationship with her dad. He's not focused on her relationship with the woman who kidnapped her. He's just enjoying today and looking forward to tomorrow. It doesn't matter if the kidnapper was executed, there's no punishment in the world that will give them back what was stolen from them. I respect everyone's opinions as well. I'm just trying to explain why I feel the way that I do. I am not excusing what happened at all. But I understand why Kamiyah can't hate the woman who she thought was her mother.

      +madree p You know that Kamiyah/ALexis wasn't adopted, yet you use adoption terminology to describe her mother. As though Shanara had given away her baby - she didn't. Her baby was kidnapped. Ergo, she is not and can not be a "birth mother", period.
