Two things that struck me. How Javarceay could be so calm and quiet through all those interviews while hiding so much hate and jealousy underneath. He thought, at 17, he could outsmart the detectives. I hope he gets a very rude awakening behind bars. Then, at the end, to hear the sister say how her little girl pretends that her cousins are still alive and 'plays' with them is beyond heartbreaking.

This story is the exact reason why I stay far away from Columbus and from my jealous "family" because of how dangerous it is to be around misery. These kids were at school the next day with a pair of the stolen shoes on.
The fact they went allll the way across town sharing a moped was ridiculous. That’s bout a 30 min drive itself!
Some still believe the “look out” really was telling the truth about not doing anything /going in since he was going to be murdered next.

As a former police officer, watching this video brings tears to my eyes how brutally this man's family was murdered. You can tell looking at the home and acreage the family was financially well off. This had to be a premeditated killing in which the killer knew something about the families wealth or a family member in the home. That is my police instinct after only watching just 2 minutes of the video. I immediately ruled the father out simply by listening to his testimony and his distraught behavior during the interrogation interview after the loss of his family. Detectives are well trained on identifying people when they are lying.

As inconsiderate as it sounds to ask, I think they do it to see the reaction they get... unfortunately most of the time when a family is murdered (including children) it's someone related to the victims. It's normally a crime of passion whenever people are brutally beaten, especially children. You have to have so much hate inside you to do it. Based on how many of these interrogations I've watched, the person who "found" their family dead is the one who committed the crime. But I'm no expert in this field, it's just my opinion! I remember when my friend passed away, his girlfriend was asked "how are you?" She responded with "I'm great!" Yeah that was the first red flag.

@ It does matter. It was awful either way. The commentary emphasized that it was so much worse because they were family, and I was just pointing out that they were not related by blood. If your blood relative did this to you, that makes it that much worse. Because the idea that a blood relative could do this to their own family member is beyond belief. The fact that a close family friend who you thought of as a family member did it is horrible as well. But apparently, the perpetrator did not see them as family, even though they saw him as family. If he had seen them as family, he obviously would not have done what he did. The perpetrated did not love the family as much as they loved him.

How about parents stop raising angry, unaddressed mental illness, violent entitled narcissists. Back in my day we didn't have nearly as heavy of violence and crime and yet we had a larger population....back in those days parents didn't coddle their kids for life, parents disciplined kids (a little fear is healthy). Parents did not accept so much excuses or believe if their kid complained about someone or a teacher that it was automatically the other party's fault. Parents taught us to self reflect and realize what responsibilities we had and how to get things done. These days you have parents talking to a 25 year old kids manager because kid complained to parents that they think they were treated unfairly, like no cell phones on the job, you're somewhere to work.

I know, right? I would be curious to go inside his mind to see what made him like this. It's about more than being jealous. This is pure evil!!!

This is a nightmare I wish I had never stumbled upon. How horrible for them. This family seemed so happy and healthy. They are at peace, now.

Jervarceay needs life with no parol or the death penalty.. Just an evil cold hearted person just to be able to talk after the crime without a care in the world. Amd did all that for some shoes and video games. Just imagine what he would d9 in the future for some real money or expensive items
