I'm himyarite from Yemen, We believe that our old grandfathers where a jews but most of them had converted to islam, I'm so proud of this game! Thank you very much!
@Derren Aalis The Himyarite kingdom was a pagan and then Jewish kingdom in pre-Islamic Yemen. As far as I can tell there was no Ethiopian Jewish Kingdom, but google Beta Israel to read about their Jewish community.
@Derren Aalis Judaism, like Islam and Christianity, is a faith, and it's the faiths/religions that caused people to shift and persecute and exhile others. Yemeni Jews are Yemeni, Ethiopian Jews are Ethiopian etc. but the religions caused infighting and upheaval. Of course, all of them are myths, none of the myths or religions give anyone rights to land.

The think i enjoy most while watching your vids is your very honest and straight-to-the-point behaviour. I also just had to laugh at the way you simply said " could have done it while having early access but meh i was getting married ". Keep it up !
"CA says that they have attention to detail, they put blinking camels but they can't fucking get it right and call him a rabbi. I don't care whatever" hahahahaha I don't know why but I lost it when you said this.
It's probably the power level. Sassanid AI is basically like "Himyar is weak, don't need trade." even though historically trade, non aggression and even alliance was Sassanid's first goal with Himyar in that time frame; due to not wanting to waste so much manpower treading through the harsh deserts.
I know this an old video and you'll never see this and anyone else reading it won't care but there were Jewish magi as well. The three wise men who visited Jesus were literally 3 Magi
That annoyed me when he criticised that too. I looked up the Himyarite Kingdom, apparently they weren't rabbinical jews, but thought to be a sect of Sadducees, whom themselves rejected things like the Oral Torah and a consequential afterlife. Ancient religions are often different to their modern versions, and often in the past were much more varied and dynamic. Early Christianity, even largely of the early Roman period that Attila is set in, would be practically unrecognisable to a modern Christian if the ancient accounts are to be believed.
"The Western Roman Empire is going to crumble eventually" For me by 410 AD they were only able to hold onto to a few provinces namely a piece of Spain and a piece or so of Africa. They crumbled right after I sacked Rome (as the Visigoths) in 397 AD.
"You can be Jewish and Italian, can't you?" As someone who is ethnically descended from Eastern European Jews and Italians, I can confirm this is possible.
Just FYI, rabbinical Judaism wasn't really a thing til the Roman Flavians made a deal with the Jews to try to keep a lid on the Messianic movement. Rabbinical Judaism was probably very rare in much of the east, as it really hadn't had that much time to take root yet. Judaism was word of mouth until around 500 CE. Magus was a term used to describe a holy man in Zoroastrianism, as well. no surprise the Himyar would refer to Jewish priests as Magi.
I always go first against the Aksum as Himyar and then after that I fight the Sassanids and then establish trade relations with Eastern Rome, also I always prefer the Rumha units as a mobile spearmen while the Baltha and Sanhegohrim acts as flankers.
its largely based on whether they like you or not and in order to get them to do so you usually have to either give them lots of gifts or fight factions they hate. Most of the times I've found its not worth bothering with.
you need to have goods that they are interested, if both of you have the same recourse, they won't be interested. especially if it's not something they need at the moment.
A magus is from the order of the magi in persia. As best we can tell, they decended from Daniel, the guy from the Lions den. The magi also appear in the Christmas story, also called wise men. Putting rabbi in the southern regions of the Persian Peninsula wouldn't make sense historically, however magi would have been present here.
Looks like this will be an interesting campaign. Haven't bought the empire of the sands pack so not sure what Himyars military units are like. Are you thinking of fighting the ERE or the Sassanids first?
Also you are so right about the AI, It seems to be in Attila that most factions have an aversion to any sort of diplomacy unless you are on very good terms with them, even then they are really unreasonable.
from the looks of diplomacy in this episode one could assume they programmed anti-semitism into the game, but i think it's a couple of hundred years to early for that.
+ahmet said alkur no I said I wouldn't do any for a long time. It had actually been a huge break from the game since the WRE campaign when I said that.
I played as Lakhmids and to be honest it was so hard in the beginning that I I thought giving up. Sassanids declared war on me and I could not keep up with my shitty mercenary armies. Even sneaking an army and razing sassanid settlements did not help. But I just kept grinding. Anyway I think Lakhmids were very very hard.
Try the tanukhids. You have 2 tiny CRAP armies, negative money, terrible starting position and there are 3 ERE armies next to you when you spawn. A very hard tanukhids campaign is way worse than this is total war legendary western Roman Empire.
The Tanukhids are kinda easy dude. They have pikes and cavalry. The AI isn't very good at dealing with pikes or cavalry. But tbh WRE-TITW is more boring than it is hard. It's also really easy if you just abandon most of the Empire and hold out in Italy until the AI dies off at which point go and kill freely.
I really think and hope the diplomacy will be a bit more reasonable, like Shogun 2 and Rome 2, in Warhammer. I personally don't think diplomacy is that important in TW (hey, making war is fun) but Attila just seems ridiculous. It's almost Civ5 standards. Almost.

Prophet Muhammed is just the last messenger and he continued the message of the previous Apostles or Prophets. The reason the Jews didn't like Prophet Muhammed (although he is a descendant of Prophet Abraham) is that he was sent to humanity and not to the Jews themselves.
