They didnt translate, that one of the women said they dont want to eat chemicals on their food. Referring to their farming techniques not using chemicals
Unfortunately tourism creates it's own problems. The government is pressured to provide the tourism sector with cheap labour, against the interests of the workers. Thousands of young people live under poor conditions, working up to 12 hours/day, very often 7 days/week for at least 6 months. Big foreign businesses have created their own hotels and they can't seem to find workers, hence the Greek govt is turning a blind eye to all the abuse the workers receive and even considering changing the laws for benefits, effectively creating poorer people looking for a job

So true ! 99% of foreigners picture Greece in their mind with only cycladic style islands. Only the ones that have visited several times get to understand a bit more.
The saddest part is that foreign tourists have gone to more greek islands for vacation than greek citizens. With a minimum wage of 706€ per month you can only afford scrolling photos of Greece on the internet
On the people here who slander greece about deaths of tourists: mobile phone or water walking for hours in the hours of 14h to 16h in the afternoon he passed from a villages with shops and restaurants and he did not stop to ask for directions either and he walked for hours did not he think he is wrong the opposite direction for his house????? How is this greece fault??? Greek taxpayers payed for the stupidity of those people in finding and rescue operations. Enough with slandering greece guy went on his own

Kimolos is by no means an unspoiled island anymore. It looks like it compared to Mykonos, but the waves of hypertourism leave nothing unspoiled.
The quiet island is my fave. Curious if Mykonos’ reservoir also down from incr tourism and residents over time?

I have visited Greece 4 times since 2010, 3 visits to Santorini! , once in Jan 2014, it was cold and raining when I took the boat tour from Santorini to the volcano Island 😊 My 2019 visit was from Ferthyi, Turkey, took a 90 minutes speed ferry to Rhode Island and spend 5 wonderful days there. It was difficult to leave, I met so many lovely people at my hostel! It was so nice to cook a simple meal in the newly renovated kitchen with free cook books! Rhonda became my new favorite after Santorini and Crete! I visited Crete during the Greek Easter accidentally, so supermarket were closed for 2 days, it was a bit frustrating because everything shuts down!
I think few people discovered that there are similar costal towns on the Turkish Rivera, such as KOS, tranquil and pristine and cheaper due to Lira. I visited during June 2019, just a few days before visiting Rhode Island. Both Aegean coastlines are very similar, I love to visit there again!
Kos is in greece. And greek islands are not similar to turkey...you propably never visited ionian Islands or the sporades and of course bever the mainland greece eh?
Kos is NOT the turkish riviera and never will be! You got that wrong.
Sorry, seems you confused hour memories : Kos belonges to Dodecanessa, together with Rodos ( not Ronda😂😂) and a lot more islands...
They prefer to import workers than to improve the work conditions for the locals. Greece is beautiful but the Greek state is ugly AF.
I’m really shocked to hear that!
@@perseusarkoudawhere are the foreign workers from?

I really hope this place remains untouched!! Social media is not helping :(
you went only to the arid cyclades islands who are part of a volcano system/eruptions. Try to go to the real greek islands like the sporades, the ionian islands, or thasos and samothraki. And just visit the mainland from livadeia to florina , greek macedonia and epirus, those areas are the spine of greece the pindus mountains the continuation of dinaric alps into greece. It s sad that majority of greece is mountains with lush forests of fir, chestnuts etc and even bears and you show some arid islands who make less than 5 per cent of greece. You give people the wrong idea of greece. Go to kastoria, karditsa lake plastira, vovousa, florina, chalkidiki, olympus etc
I think this doc wasn't to show Greece but more about the so called blue zones where people live longer on average
So true ! 99% of foreigners picture Greece in their mind with only cycladic style islands. Only the ones that have visited several times get to understand a bit more.
No they specifically said we’re covering these 5 islands
The saddest part is that foreign tourists have gone to more greek islands for vacation than greek citizens. With a minimum wage of 706€ per month you can only afford scrolling photos of Greece on the internet
We greece!!

Is this a documentary or a promotional video for a vacay for rich people who can't figure out what to do when their kids are out of school?
So true 😅
No it’s just a documentary about real people living in a real place. DW does a lot of videos with this topic in mind.
Don't like? Don't watch!

"Sex is a good way to have a long life" - typical Greek 😂
It seems that Maria is one of those who storm and rage in tourists face 😂
