As my old Grand Dad used to say:
"Clever people say clever things and do stupid stuff"

Some very good points made, many that appear to have been ignored by Russell's successors. ...or perhaps Russell's public commentary only represents a PR element and in private, among his peers in the elite, a different plan for the future of humanity has been devised, one far less benevolent in its conception, as is suggested by actions that have unfolded post-Russell.
One thing seems clear, the post-WW2 world seems to have been dominated by Russell's thinking and the thinking of those who share his worldview. The subduing of Germany and the end of the kind of Germanic thought that produced a counterpoint to British thought in the pre-WW2/1 era has led to an insufficiently critiqued, lopsidedness in European philosophizing.
While I think it's fair to say that the ideas advanced by Schopenhauer and Nietzsche leave many things to be desired, it seems to me that without the kind of Germanic thought that was prominent in pre-WW2/1 Europe to counterbalance the thinking of British Liberalism, we end up with an ideological dominance that is insufficiently tempered by credible and critical opposition.
It seems that the Anglo-American successes of the mid/late 19th century and the 20th century over Russia and Germany and to a lessor extent the 18th century successes over France, have left the Anglo-American establishment in a position of almost uncontested intellectual, military and economic dominance over Europe and the European diaspora nations.
In a sense, the USA is rather like the ancient Rome of today and the British establishment are like the ancient Greek intellectual establishment post Roman conquest. Without much competition to stimulate new ideas, the Anglo-American establishment is becoming intellectually bankrupt. No wonder they are seeking input from sources of "diversity."
Unfortunately for them, their precious "diversity" wont be able to save them as the degree of complexity and expanse of operations are far beyond the conception of the average European mind to contend with, let alone the average "diverse" mind. Can't get certain East-Asians involved too much either as they will seek to supplant Western hegemony.
If only the elites of Judeo-Anglo-American establishment weren't possessed of such supercilious arrogance, they might have looked closer to home for recruits to assist in their endeavours. At least Plato conceived of elevating worthy minds into the "Golden class," whereas the current elite seem to have little belief that such worthy minds even exist.

It is sad that more than that would not listen and likely as many more could not manage to understand him just on this level.

What a wonderful image of Russell....I swear, such an image of Russell engaging so fully in a game of Chess thrills me to no end, however sad that may sound, it is true, true, true.

I think it is the lifestyle and upper class interior luxury and comfort that is appealing in that picture as well as wearing his quality clothes that is very appealing.

Comfort, yes, but Russell did not indulge in luxury. The furnishings were largely acquired whilst living in numerous other countries. And I have never seen him in such a beautiful and well-fitting suit; it looks new and he is obviously enjoying wearing it. @@goognamgoognw6637

The concept nof freedom is the definition why a nation uses a taxation of freedoms in business band in life's of individual. This is a essential aspect of another than anarchy.

I agree with our professor, in the idea that a President (world government) should only be in charge of preventing nuclear war. Our system can actually run without a president thanks to our checks and balances.

So far ahead of his time. Just think if he had been president.
