The wire stripper is a FELO branded JOAKRI. Looks like FELO has changed manufacturers.

Thanks for the video! Ryobi keeps making things I want!!! I bought the Rotary Station Kit & absolutely love it!! It's much more powerful than my old Dremel!!
Got one of these at Home Depot - they have a "deal" where you buy two 3Ah batteries with a charger for $99 and you get your choice of a free tool. Got both for $99 plus tax. Pretty cool setup. Thanks for the video.
Never store your iron dry. Wet it with solder before putting back into the holder. Either the solder oxides saving the tip or your freshly cleaned off tip will oxidize rendering it useless.
EXACTLY ! After every few solder joints you Clean(solidify) off the solder&slag&contamination from the previous connections, and then re-apply virgin clean solder to the tip and do not wipe it off after the last usage.
When you use it again you wipe off the protective (yesterdays) solder "Tinning" shield onto the moist sponge (Distilled Water ONLY) and then Re-Tin the tip for your 1st connection of the day, and repeat this one neat trick that tip-vendors don't want you to know about!

Good review. I debated heavily on the Milwaukee M12 and even watched your review. I decided against it as it won't be a reliable/quick. This Ryobi looks promising and seams pretty portable.
I use the Ryobi most.
Ryobi are on fire! So many great products.
Grounding loop is usually unless you plug it in to the outlet.
AH MAN i want one... sheesh they keep making things i want
I bought one :)
would like to see a spot welder for building battery packs.
Thanks for the review. I was looking to pick this up over a Weller basic model and your review helped me decide!
Im enjoying the quality and perfirmance of all my Ryobi tools.
However, $ 200 + taxes CDN for a single 6ah battery is ridiculously prohibitive.
Thanks for the informative video.
Great video, so thanks for posting. I've been looking for a quality soldering iron since shortly after the earth cooled. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to quality, and when I saw that it was a Ryobi, I already had a negative attitude. However, after watching your demo, I have to say I had to eat my words.
I got one if these and running it on the wall power or a 9ah dewalt battery it does not get near as hot as yours, I am about to return it.
What I like about this soldering iron it that you can adjust the heat. Most of the other battery soldering irons are set at one wattage.
The wire stripper is a FELO branded JOKARI. Looks like FELO changed the manufacturer since I made this video. The JOKARI would be functionally identical to the FELO shown in the video. I put links in the description.
EXCELLENT VIDEO!👍
I'm brand new to soldering, never even touched one. But I'm in the market to buy one. I love how you explained what everything was for and what it does.
Pretty sure I'm gonna buy this one.
Thank you. I am very happy with it. I also have the Milwaukee M12 soldering iron and a very nice AC powered soldering station, but this Ryobi is the one I use most often.
I am contemplating this for automotive wiring, but I am leaning towards the m12 Milwaukee.
What do you mean 'impressed'. The soldering iron running too hot is never a good thing, it'll just burn up the surface alloy of the tip and if you're working on electronics and PCBs, you're more likely to damage the components and delaminate the substrate. Nor should it be running too cold. You want it within a couple degrees of where you set it at all times except under extreme conditions.
When you touch the soldering iron to the solder joint, the LED didn't go from green to red at all, nor did it when you touched the soldering iron to the wet sponge and its temperature dropped rapidly.
I suggest that heatup LED indication is simply preprogrammed on a timer and is not indicative of actual temperature; and that the soldering station has no active temperature sensing and control at all, merely output power regulation such as via PWM. SImilarly the cooldown indication is also a mere timer.
You make good points. You are probably right about the dial being a simple pwm adjustment with no sensing. This Ryobi isn't a replacement for a good high quality soldering station to do PCB work. Cordless soldering irons tend to be wimpy, this one definitely is not, it can put out the heat. This unit is great for hobby situations such as RC repairs in the field, typical wire splicing and reclaiming parts out of junk. I use this Ryobi more than my cordless Milwaukee because the Milwaukee is wimpy.
Ryobi, best company for innovative ideas....
Would this soldering iron be any good for say 10 gauge wire ?
Bienvenidas sean todas esas buenas innovaciones de la marca de herramientas Rioby.
The outside looks pretty nice and well-built but if you took it apart the inside like trash
My unit must have be bad. I'm lucky if I can get the one I bought to melt the solder at all, on the tip WITHOUT the wire. So, guess I need to take mine back as a soldering iron that won't melt solder is useless. For those who wonder, that is without it being in power save mode. The unit does give me a green light, but it really doesn't work well on just basic electronic work. Soldering two 22 gauge wires took 5 minutes just to get the wire (eventually) warm enough to melt solder, by which time the wire insulation was also starting to melt because it just took so long to get to temp.
Tried using both the AC power and a fresh battery. No difference.
I like the wire stripper you used, as well as the digital meter. What brands and models are they?
The wire stripers from Felo, Knipex and Wiha are so nice. Links on my website www.zeug.com
1st review by someone who knew how to solder. Good info, thanks for a excellent review. Think I'm going to pick one up. Seems HD has the best deal right now, too late for the $99 battery kit with free tool deal Mr DeVillers got. $75 bare tool right now.
I use it all the time. Use it more than my Milwaukee.
Didn't know Ryobi did this sort of thing.
Nice review, I think I am going to have to get one for myself.
I briefly looked at your video thumbnails. What is your connection with Ceylon?
Thank you. I like it because for a cordless iron it has better heat than my cordless Milwaukee iron. I married a SriLankan, which reminds me, I should post more of my travel video footage.
@@bzeug "I married a SriLankan..."
How cool! I'm getting to be an old guy and can't keep up with every time
they change the name of a country or city, I forgot Ceylon is now Sri
Lanka. When I was young we had to learn geography, nowadays kids don't
even know how many stars there are on the American flag - and by "kids",
I mean college students.
550°C ? I would be impressed too, that's 1022°F. Pretty darn hot.
Are the tips proprietary? Looking at HD website, they look a bit expensive to get replacements.
That is a very good question. I have been using the iron but still have not replaced any tips. Measurements of the Chisel tip included with the iron are: 43mm overall length, 25.26 (26mm nominal?) length of largest diameter. Largest diameter is 6.88mm (6.5 nominal?). Inside diameter is 4mm.
Very nice but it doesn't look like its esd safe.
it's a shame that it's not digital. I got the TS100, TS80, and ZD-8917B i use them for building Race Drones :D
i got mine from bunnings, 2 months ago, its 480d and cost me $140 i just found out i got ripped off.
Mind telling me what wire stripper you used? Thanks for the review.
Not at all. www.kctoolco.com/felo-62681-felo-automatic-wire-stripper/ or from Amazon.de (Germany) www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listing/B00QWYNPGY/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new actually cheaper on Amazon USA www.amazon.com/Felo-0715762681-Automatic-Wire-Stripper/dp/B00QWYNPGY/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_3?crid=2YMQ0CDTZLYZU&keywords=felo+wire+stripping+tool&qid=1555611770&s=gateway&sprefix=felo+wire+s%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-3-fkmrnull
Does it come with a battery n charger?
no battery no charger tool only
ts100 + any battery.. portable digital soldering iron.
What wire strippers are those?
Felo is the brand. German. links on my website www.zeug.com
Not on the inside
It is a bad idea. This is a ceramic heater iron that can lose half power.
So i guess they had not heard of the ts80 or ts100
I guess you hadn't heard that neither the TS80 nor the TS100 is battery powered.
My ts100 runs just fine on batteries and if i get a ts80 it will primarily run off a battery
Milwaukee has one smaller than your battery!
yea but it is inferior to the ryobi and more expensive. the ryobi is nice and can be used plugged in or wireless. milwaukee gambled trying to make it compact like a gun solution but situations to use it in that manner is not common. more commonly people soldering on a bench/desk and even if in tight situations the chord on the tip is long enough to have a enough play in tight situations. i know your a milwaukee fan boy but the ryobi is better in every way
