I first started surfing in 1968 and my first trip to Noosa was in 1970. The days of few crowds and sleeping in the car at National Park and eating canned braised steak and onions. No fancy eateries on Hastings street then.
Tide changes around this area are roughly 6.5 hours apart so they are not the same every day. For example, on Sat 14th December Low tide is 00.25 and High at 07.07. The next Low
is 13.34 and High at 19.09. The tidal measurement depends on the phase of the moon.
You can find tide charts for your area with a simple google search.
I am enjoying watching you explore the area as we did 50 odd years ago. 🤙

We must be about the same vintage. I first surfed Noosa National Park (Tea Trees) Xmas hols 1969 as 15 yr old schoolboy. Been going back ever since. There wasn't much in Hastings St in those days. My sister has lived at Little Cove for the last 25 years.

@@RobNMelbourne I was 13 on my first trip. I lived in Bargara at that time and National Park seemed like heaven. My big brother and his mates had cars and our weekends were spent either at Agnes Water or the Sunshine Coast.
A great era to be a kid and a surfer.

Used to hike through there all the way out to hells gate and back, way before they put paths in. It was way better than now because it was peaceful and you could find a secluded spot to sit for hours enjoying nature and not see another soul.

Granite bay was for many years a nudist beach. My grandmother was the first non indigenous person born in the area. My grandfather, towards the end of his working life worked as a park ranger in the Noosa Heads National Park.

You can often see Koalas around that part of Noosa. Normally high up in the trees. Hard to spot.

You can have a beach in a bay and in a cove. A cove is just a small bay - compare Little Cove (which has a beach) to Tea Tree Bay (which also has a beach).

Was that hells gate in the windy section? Haven't been up there for years. Sunshine beach and the small hidden beaches and caves on the otherside of Noosa is better imo. But cool to see, I used to run up and down that section. Good job 🇦🇺

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe a bay is a bay because it's set back in a way that is protected from the direct waves, currents, and is less tidal. 😊

The windy lookout was Hell's Gate. A heavenly spot despite the name. Looks a little like North Gorge on Stradbroke island.

You finally found dolphins now try and see then fully or hunting. (We had see them through the clear water up close hunting fish a big school). Also mate it’s quite common to see manta rays up close on the shore lines.

In the early days those pools would have been full of oysters and some coral.and with sea weed. Picco stays home alone I take it.

Many years ago, Granite Bay used to be a "Nudist Beach". On a good day, there were so many beautiful women that I could point at the turtles while both my hands were behind my back.
