Rick is absolutely spot on! This song came out in the mid 90s when India has just opened up its markets, experiencing the initial stages of globalization. This song is classic symptomatic of an era of India desperately pandering a "uniquely exoticized" cultural identity to the rest of the world. The example of this song often comes up even now in seminars and university classrooms. So dont care what huge mass of people think, Rick being uncomfortable here equals to Rick being an intelligent and intuitive person. Cheers!

Funny how Korbin says 80 million views and Rick says If he hadn't seen the video he wouldn't have disliked it. Wake up Rick, 80 million people viewed it. So in the 90s someone knew how to make a video that 80 million people will view.

Sometimes Rick gets too annoying. Like he refuses to look past things. Or understand things from a wider context. Maybe because he is a boomer? 😂😂😂 I mean when korbin doesn’t understand things he is still much more open minded about them. I think he has a more accepting mindset and Rick is just too sensitive, and may be a little set in his ways. No offence to each his own. It’s just that korbin is really stupid and doesn’t know bullshit but he never makes it awkward and still his reactions are fun. 😝😂😂
I expected to see a lot of ppl in the comments talking about Milind Soman and I wasn't disappointed!..😍😍 GORGEOUS man who with his wife has inspired so many Indians to run.. especially women to get out and run n not be restricted by their attire.
Let me tell you what actually made rick sad... Up untill the point she was rejecting a chinese and an african, he was fine the moment she rejected ENGLISHMEN, he stopped dancing and that reverse racism dawned on him and he wasn't going to take how an indian women rejected an englishmen. Rick is secretly racist.
Indeed, Milind Soman is fitter and better looking today. We got to meet him last month as he is the Brand Ambassadors of our society (the builder basically). And this was the time when Pop Songs came in India... This definitely was picked from the Madonna's song you mentioned. And some more songs then were picked from outside India, and till date are. Yet, we didn't mind and loved them and danced to the tunes of Thanda Thanda Paani (picked from Ice Ice Baby).
I agree. It was popular in the 90s. Catchy at first but repetitive throughout. And yes, the lyrics say she wants someone with a good heart and then goes for the looks. 100% agreed.
When it's a reaction channel, there is a chance they won't like everything. And it will be disappointing if it's such a popular song and video like this. But their validation or lack of it doesn't take away anything from how much any song or movie is loved by us. So let them give their honest opinion and let us enjoy our songs and videos at the same time 😄
The song was for Indians in the 90s who were suddenly watching MTV and Star Movies and feeling very inferior to western entertainment. So much of the 90s cheese today is because various Indian media retaliated by embracing Indian-ness. The uber confident India of the 2000s was built in the 90s. Rick and Korbin don't come with that context and history of India's liberalisation. The subbers and other stupid babies might be way too young to be aware of the context.
Alisha is a fantastic singer who you've probably already heard several times without realizing it! Check out some of her film songs - there are many - her debut was back in a 1985 movie.
The song literally sings about how she wants an Indian guy, whether dark or light skinned she doesn't care. Jesus, what's so hard to understand? The subtitles are very clear, how can you misunderstand?
Korbin got this down, he enjoyed the song....Rick saw visuals and got weirded out and went into some philosophical hole...... Rick 90's didn't have Political Correctness, this is just created by some "smart" people in recent years and we didn't care about it so much. We just either liked the music or not. That's the way we always have been.
In fact, the video is politically correct for the 90s. We had opened up to the world and the world was mocking us in every field. So Indians upped the ante, pursued excellence aggressively and owned every Indian aspect of ourselves. That's what today's self-confident India is based on. But Rick and Korbin don't know that history, they are looking at it with US context
She didn't care about how he looked. If you didn't notice , he was the only Indian guy (wearing Indian outfit) who came to see her , so she chose him .
Nobody really cares about the stereotypes in the video. The song talks about loving your country and whatever it has to offer. And therefore it is so famous still
This was a Chart buster of early 90's. Alisha was the 1st Indian Pop Star who has sung super hit songs. U r being uncomfortably critical Rick . Milind Soman was India's 1st Super Model
I love that song. Let’s leave our childhood songs as it is. They will not like it based on lyrics. But for us, we have associated memories and it’s part of us.
You are not the most hated person on the internet Rick. You n Korbin r totally justified in disliking the video. The song by pop star Alisha Chinai was the rage back in the day of MTV music videos and topped the charts for a very long time. People especially teenagers loved the song and Milind Soman the male model in the video. The song is still popular though the video is not because it is filled with the prejudices that Folks have about India n Indians n was probably used by the makers intentionally(there was fascination with foreigners n everything foreign at that point so this was a reminder that Indians were beautiful on their own) .. Alisha always has a splendid voice though😍💞😃♥️n Milind Soman is still one of the most attractive absolutely fit Indian actors today😃🙏🌹💟
Sridevi's Hawa Hawaii is racist - but Made in India is not racist. It was an owning of Indian stereotypes - pay close attention to the visuals, and Milind Soman, India's first male Supermodel, also meant something then. All those Bharat Bala and AR Rahman videos were an extension of the patriotism rising through Indians at the time. If people want to know how India was looked at by the West, just look up old press clippings of Aus and Eng cricket tours to India.
Guys.. don't over think it... it's just a girl looking for a fiancee from India. In those days foreigners were thought to be handsome than Indians in India itself. This song actually changed it... that's all about it

But then Korbin very well corrected him that good looking guys can have good hearts too but even then Rick didn't seem to accept it. Maybe it's just the vibes he got from the video itself, I don't know.
She choose it not because of look, bt because his heart is made in India..
That's forever dashing Milind Soman! The Super Model of the 90's. Nobody came even close to him 😍. And he still looks exactly the same
This song started the 90's Indi-pop era (my favourite music era)... She was referred as India's Madonna for revolutionising the trend of independent music videos... She has done playback singing in many movies, including Kajra Re, for which she won the Best Singer awards...
That guy is MILIND SOMAN...THE IRON MAN Title Holder.

@@satakopang Brother That is diffrent.

Cheers!
The sexiest diva of 90s Indipop ❤
Milind Soman, my first crush when I didn't even know what a crush was.😂 And he's still irreplaceable 😭
Grumpy old man on the left 😶

Just here to make Korbin happy 😂
Rick she wanted a indian guy. Was not about him being good looking. What she said is i have travelled the world but still crave for someone indian.
YES CAUSE " ONCE U GO BRYAAUWN , THE OTHER COLOURS LET YOU DYAAUN "!! LOL
Rexx Bailey ooo ya I remember vir das saying this in one of his comedy special
One of the favorite songs of all 90s kids!!! ♥️ and of course Milind Soman 😍
Now that I think of it .. somewhat similar to Katy Perry's Dark horse. But this one is definitely old
omg tell me about it. im a malayali, but my teen nd younger youth was blessed with our amazing album songs. god i wish i could again be there....
This Song Is All About... She's Saying She Has Travelled Whole World But, She Says Nothing Is Better Than Indian So She Wants An Indian Man To Be Her Life Partner Forever🇮🇳♥️💯
Rick is suddenly feeling insecure for not being an Indian.... 😆😆
Hahhahahahha
😂😂😂😂correct
😂😂😂
👍🏻😄
😄
Songs like these made our childhood memorable and beautiful
You still have a lot to learn about indian songs albums and the concept behind it.
NOT FOR RICK - She is rejecting everyone. Wants a man made in india lol
I knew korbin would say' look at me, Rick'..... When they were speaking abt beautiful people having beautiful hearts.😁😁
I love how they have no idea how big of a legend is Milind Soman that too just by modeling.
So we ignore his athleticism?
What's wrong with Rick today..!😂
Funny how Korbin says 80 million views and Rick says If he hadn't seen the video he wouldn't have disliked it. Wake up Rick, 80 million people viewed it. So in the 90s someone knew how to make a video that 80 million people will view.
It's ok Rick Segall. We still love you....... You on other hand Korbin Miles ........ I knew you wouldn't like it
Hahahaha at 4:10 the discomfort on Rick’s face and the cheeky grin on Corbin’s
I was waiting for this song. The guy who comes at the end is Milind Soman, the first super model of India. He also won the Ironman triathalon.
Won? Or completed.

He won. Here completing means wining the title...
I love that song.... Even I'm originally from Malaysia but I heard the song since I was a child... I kinda thought that song was from Malaysia back then together with Malaysian song genre Dangdut... Only in my Adulthood I discovered that's Indian song.... Haha
Sometimes Rick just for the sake of it I feel tries to be politically correct... 😂
@@fbird3856 what a ridiculous thing to say
@@SumitBohra487 we are not saying he is wrong.. we are just saying it is just a song ... That too old song.. let it be..😝
Goosebumps through the entire song when she says made in India 🇮🇳😭❤️
Sometimes Rick gets too annoying. Like he refuses to look past things. Or understand things from a wider context. Maybe because he is a boomer? 😂😂😂
I mean when korbin doesn’t understand things he is still much more open minded about them. I think he has a more accepting mindset and Rick is just too sensitive, and may be a little set in his ways.
No offence to each his own. It’s just that korbin is really stupid and doesn’t know bullshit but he never makes it awkward and still his reactions are fun. 😝😂😂
You shouldn't watch the video if it gets annoying.. isn't that like common sense?🤣🤣
@@avikbose2216 hahaha exactly
So happy, to see Milind Soman my school classmate. you made our school proud Milind.
The reaction video had Milind Soman and I am getting an advertisement having Milind Soman, twice....wow the AI has really got evolved greatly
Half way thru the video:-
Rick : When is this gonna end? 🤣
Fun Fact: Produced by British composer 'Biddu' who composed for Carl Douglas ('Kung fu fighting') and Tina Charles (Dance Little Lady Dance)
I expected to see a lot of ppl in the comments talking about Milind Soman and I wasn't disappointed!..😍😍 GORGEOUS man who with his wife has inspired so many Indians to run.. especially women to get out and run n not be restricted by their attire.
You Brought so many memories..
I heard this after many many yeears
When you watch old stuff, don’t judge
Yeah, at least not without trying to get the context.
Katy Perry does this 3 decades after "dark horse" ..it becomes instant chartburster
OG Indian pop does this in 90s.. it's weird! .. ahem ahem
I agree. It was popular in the 90s. Catchy at first but repetitive throughout. And yes, the lyrics say she wants someone with a good heart and then goes for the looks. 100% agreed.
Aaahhhh Milind Soman 😍
Was, is and always will be the most handsome man in India
It's not racism. It's her preference to marry.
When it's a reaction channel, there is a chance they won't like everything. And it will be disappointing if it's such a popular song and video like this. But their validation or lack of it doesn't take away anything from how much any song or movie is loved by us. So let them give their honest opinion and let us enjoy our songs and videos at the same time 😄
yes, well said.
The video did show the typical western stereotypical western misconceptions about India.
But the song was a big big hit back then
The song was for Indians in the 90s who were suddenly watching MTV and Star Movies and feeling very inferior to western entertainment.
@@anitak3985
Completely agreed
Rick is clearly uncomfortable 😂😂😂😂
Rick took it personally. He needn't have.
well, this should have been recommended for you in the 90s!!
And that dude you witnessed is a legend there!
You have thrown our childhood right there in front of our eyes. Listening this song may be after a decade
Yeppaa
The video sucked so bad tho. It's completely stupid.
I love that Rick is brutally honest about his feelings. This is why I love you guys
Yeah. Look at korbin. A beautiful man with a good heart💙
Nobody really cares about the stereotypes in the video. The song talks about loving your country and whatever it has to offer. And therefore it is so famous still
Since that EIC video, Rick is being different and not being attentive. 😅
It seems you didn't understand the theme of the song.
This was a Chart buster of early 90's. Alisha was the 1st Indian Pop Star who has sung super hit songs.
U r being uncomfortably critical Rick .

Nostalgia! The Indian pop princess 👑
Guys.. don't over think it... it's just a girl looking for a fiancee from India. In those days foreigners were thought to be handsome than Indians in India itself. This song actually changed it... that's all about it
